Family members of a man recently arrested for an alleged robbery and anti-Christian disturbance at Stoneridge Shopping Center say the incident was all a misunderstanding.
Abdul Walid Hamid of Hayward appeared before Judge Christine Moruza yesterday for an arraignment on charges of battery, grand theft, terrorist threats and exhibition of a deadly weapon. The arraignment was postponed until 9 a.m. today, however, as he required a translator.
Hamid, 22, who works at a kiosk in the mall, was arrested by Pleasanton police Nov. 4 after he reportedly yelled "Allah is power" and "Islam is great," while holding a pen in a fist over his head and then allegedly grabbing and breaking a crucifix off a man's neck. Witnesses also said he had been shouting anti-Christian comments, according to police.
Lt. Mike Elerick said the man was not provoked and didn't threaten violence, but he committed robbery when he grabbed and broke the crucifix.
Hamid's family members, who declined to give their names, say it was all a misunderstanding. Outside the courtroom, they said Hamid was provoked when the customer with the necklace reportedly called him a derogatory name. They said Hamid put his hand on the customer's shoulder, asking him not to use that word. When the customer pulled away, the family said Hamid's hand came into contact with the necklace and it accidentally broke.
His family also said that he's only been in the country a few months and is still learning the language and the laws.
Co-workers told police that Hamid's actions were out of the ordinary. Police also said they weren't aware of a prior criminal history for the man.

Hasan was not really part of the US military but a soldier of allah. That he managed to evade detection because of our stupidiity, is really not his fault. Moreover, it is absurd to still honour him with the rank of Major in the US armed services.

I am in essential agreement with your comment but would like to say that until Major Hasan is found guilty of the charges, it is military custom to address him by his current rank.
That having been said, it is my fervant hope that the court martial, upon finding him guilty, include among his punishments a complete break in rank to the lowest point possible, and that he be denied all military benefits including pension in any amount.
No doubt he will be charged with capital offenses. It is a pure pity that the military no longer hangs murderers. Lethal injection is just too good for him, in fact hanging is too. He should be sentenced to 13 life terms at hard labor running consecutively with no possibility for parole or release for any reason, except upon death, a trip to his favorite Muslim graveyard at his own expense. If he doesn't have enough money in his property to pay for a cab ride to the graveyard, then toss him out with the trash.
Come to think of it, it's probably better for him to be executed and prevent any possibility of a Presidential Pardon.

Why isn't the term "hate crime" being used when Muslims attack Christians?
I've got to say Abdullah there isn't any more to this story because there can't be other than the fact that a retarded muslim went around yanking crucifixes off of people. That's about it. I think Islam should perhaps be considered for classification as a mental illness. That way.. we could just lock everyone up and go back to worrying about communists. That sounds like fun. One point comes at you at once on this. These alleged family members refused to give their names, which brings up a red flag at once. Also, their claim that there was a misuderstanding seems a bit far fetched; how would they know unless they were at the mall? What derrogatory comment was made that so enraged Hamid that he felt he had the right to handle someone physically? In addition, how does one come in contact with a necklace when one is simply putting a hand on someone's shoulder?

This claim seems to directly contracdict what Hamid's fellow employees said about him as quoted to the Danville Express: "Co-workers told police that Hamid's actions were out of the ordinary and that he had worked at the kiosk for years."
Why would these fellow employees claim that Hamid had worked with them for years, while his family claims that they had only been in the country for a few months? What possible incentive would Hamid's co-workers have to lie about how long he had worked at the kiosk?
Hamid only became the poor non-English speaker when confronted by law enforcement, according to the Danville Express.
Abby, you had best closely read the articles that you post before posting them. The Pleasanton Weekly did not help your case here. If you plan to do dawah, or in this case taqqiya, you had best not be so sloppy in your work. Allah will not honor a lazy and inept follower.

If the poor, victimized muslim required a translator in court, apparently he does not speak English. If he does not speak English, how could he understand the "derogatory" name he was putatively called? Somehow I just can't envision a woman walking up to a total stranger in a mall and start calling him names. I think he was infuriated at the sight of a crucifix, forgetting momentarily that the U.S. is not an islamic hellhole where minority Christians are tormented and persecuted by muslim pigs. Why do we put up with these demonic, alien invaders who are polluting our country and endangering our lives? Diversity sure as hell isn't that important to me.
If I want to experience the joy and wonder of islamic culture, I'll buy a plane ticket to an islamic sewer that has not been tainted by infidel influence and experience pure, raw islam. Chalk it up to islamic ignorance! The attacks against us Americans on our own soil will increase with frequency and the destruction of property and Infidel life. The only solution is profiling and at the first hint of antagonism the muslim should be whisked away and deported. Those family members protesting his innocence should also be rounded up for they are clearly anti-American - Anti-Infidel and pose a constant danger to our way of life too. If the perpertrator's entire family was subjected to deportation they would police their own mutant muslim misfits.

You might be interested in knowing that fellow Flight 93 hero Tom Burnett was from San Ramon, California, which is right next to the city of Pleasanton.
The original article calls the victim of this crime "someone" and "a person", leaving his/her gender unreported. Abdullah's article states that the victim is a man. Further comment here refers to the victim as female.
Why would the original article omit the victim's gender? It might be relevant, as regards the Islamic prohibition of touching / disrespecting a woman. Unless she was uncovered? But apparently the victim is male. Does that make this behavior more acceptable under sharia?
In any case, the omission of naming the victim's sex in the article seems awkward. Why was it written that way?
When a moslem looses it I find that singing a hymm or too helps. Especially Hymns like What a Mighty Fortress, In the Name of Jesus, Lift HIgh the Cross, and for Catholics maybe, Credo in Unam Deo (especially in Latin)do well. The good part of this is that they really can't hymn back at you.

But yelling Islamic things, particularly invoking Allah's superiority, while menacing with a pen thus to vividly and dramatically communicate the logical transformation of those words of Jihad of the Pen (al-Jihad bil-Qalam) into a Jihad of the Sword (al-Jihad bil-Saif) -- should constitute a new crime, namely: that of "Yelling Jihad in a crowded theater".
