"He was convicted in Egypt in absentia in 1999 for offenses relating to the Vanguards of Conquest's activities and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment." He should be given a sumptuous flat next door to the home of this Canadian federal court judge. "Canadian court frees Egyptian terrorist," from AFP, November 30 (thanks to all who sent this in):
OTTAWA -- A federal court on Monday ordered the release of an Egyptian man convicted of terrorism in his home country and who was later detained in Canada for eight years as a possible national security threat."The court is satisfied that the threat Mr. (Mohamed) Mahjoub poses to national security or the safety of any person can be neutralized by the imposition of conditions on his release from detention," said the ruling.
Mahjoub came to Canada in 1995 and was granted refugee status the following year.
He was detained in 2000 under a rarely-used security measure that permits secret court hearings and indefinite jailing of foreigners suspected of terror ties, without charges.
The Canadian Security Intelligence Service alleged Mahjoub was a high-ranking member of an Egyptian Islamic terrorist organization, the Vanguards of Conquest -- a radical wing of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad or Al Jihad.
He was convicted in Egypt in absentia in 1999 for offenses relating to the Vanguards of Conquest's activities and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
In 2007, Canada's Supreme Court ordered his release after quashing the anti-terrorism measure used to detain him, as unconstitutional....
wow! he must have been a real bad guy. To have been picked up and Gitmo'ed by the lily-livered Canadian justice system.
They give him refugee status, and refuse to send him back to face justice in Egypt, and eventually free him to stay in Canada. That was a nice touch, ehh!
I think it would be a good idea for someone up there with some guts, to send him up to Churchill to help with Global Warming by counting polar bears on foot in a parka stuffed with Goose liver.
Although this non-sense is still happening in the courts, day by day the general public of all nations are waking up to the terrible dangers of Islam. This will only increase steadily over the coming years -- especially as more and more ex-Muslims come on-line and their voices become more widely heard. Many of us ex-Muslims will soon be picking up the pace and exposing the fraud of Islam at an even faster rate. Although there will of course be many stubborn, obedient cultists that will cling to their precious Islam and reek havoc, there is much to be positive about and take hope in.
Upon close inspection, Islam is such an obvious fraud, and Muhammad such an obvious mad man, that millions upon millions of young Muslims will lose their fears, apostatize, and help strike the death blow to this evil ideology known as the Islamic religion. As Ali Sina has said -- Islam will fall much faster than many people think.
Can someone please forward this to ROBERT SPENCER. Thanks in Advance.
Dogs in Pakistan are treated better than their women
I return that evening to Islamabad and am joined by a group of very powerful women. We talk for hours. I meet Samar Minallah -- an activist lawyer. She focuses primarily on highlighting problems of women in the Northwest Province of Pakistan. She has been fighting a practice called "retribution" where girls are traded to resolve conflict between men. Recently she was involved in a case where a man killed another man's dog and instead of a fight ensuing, the man who killed the dog gave the aggrieved man 15 girls between the ages of six months to seven years old. These girls then became the aggrieved man's possessions, to be raped, enslaved, treated in any way the man desired. Fifteen girls for one dead dog. This is a common practice. A practice Samar has been fighting against. In the case of the dog, she called the father of the girls and asked if it was true. She recorded the conversation. The father proudly announced that he had traded his daughters.

Sharp like pointed stick eh..
I say, Let this terrorist become a servant, along with his Islamic pals in the homes of these pathetic tearjerkers who set him free. Some justice system, huh! They have about as much backbone as fishing worms. No offense to the worms here!
I am very frustrated with the Canadian justice system.
Not so long ago, an Ontario judge proposed allowing Sharia law to be used in family court!
One of this historic problems in Canada is the unelected Senate, where the party of the day can appoint Senators for life. Since the Trudeau era, that has meant the Senate has been stuffed with far-left Liberals who can do what they please.
Only Alberta elects its senators, and unfortunately Stephen Harper who I believe is the best Prime Minister we have had in decades, is in a weak position due his government's minority status. If the provinces elected their Senators, I doubt very much that we would have such a weak judicial system. I, for one, believe CSIS when they deemed this man a threat.

You know, before you fight a war, you've got to realize that you're in one.
Suicidal.
In this case, it isn't a senatorial issue, it's a judicial one. If the courts strike a law down on constitutional grounds, it's gone - hence, no more detainment on security tickets.
IOW, a known jihadist has to actually blow something up now before he can be detained.
Oh, and just to clear things up - I've lived in Alberta for 10 years, and have never been asked to vote for a Senator. All our senators remain unelected appointees.
I think you're harking back to Preston Manning's Reform party, whose main platform was installing an elected senate.
He kind of failed at this, because it caused a rift on the right, which hurt the election chances of both the Progressive Conservatives, and Reform, and the transitory Alliance party. The just-plain-old "Conservative" party resulted from the settling dust of conservative in-fighting.
