Our military has some decisions to make. This appears to be the second time a Muslim American soldier has committed Jihad against his fellow American soldiers. The last time was in Kuwait.
Since there is no way to tell a moderate Muslim from a militant Muslim, will our military make the hard decisions needed to properly protect our soldiers from future internal Jihad or will they give militant Muslims more chances to kill our soldiers. All of us could offer some simple solutions but that may be a hard if not impossible decision for PC MC generals and politicians.

However, I would prefer he recovers fully, stands trial (or whatever is the Military equivalent) and goes to jail for the rest of his life providing he is denied ALL contact with other Muslims and is given NO special supplies or allowances with respect to his religion. Failing that, I prefer he be given the death penalty.

The threshhold for taking rational measures of safety is set irrationally high when PC MC is dominant, as it is in the U.S. Military (and as it throughout North America, Central America, South America, Europe, the UK, India, Australia and New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, and probably the rest of the non-Muslim countries of the world).
It is grievously reasonable to suppose that that threshhold would not be reached by a third murderous attack on our soldiers and officers, in some other fort or military complex (perhaps even a veterans' hospital); nor by a fourth attack. Would a fifth attack, occurring down the line a few years from now, finally shake things up? Who knows what the magic number is for the PC MC mentality. On this matter, I am particularly pessimistic. I would wager that not before ten such attacks, at a minimum, will we begin to see the re-orientation back toward rationality on this issue.
P.S.:
1) It is eminently reasonable to count unsuccessful plots to attack as equal to successful attacks. Thus, this would not be the second attack, but the third -- since only two years ago Muslims plotted to kill American soldiers at Fort Dix in New Jersey.
2) The issue of Muslim-American military being a threat to our military can tend to become a distracting peripheral issue, distracting from the general problem of Muslims -- leading some people in the Anti-Islam Movement to call for expelling Muslims from the US Military, but continuing to refrain from calling for expelling Muslims from the US, as though the latter problem is smaller than the former, which is quite the reverse.

The only people on a military base who carry weapons are those who are guarding the perimeter. Military personnel are not routinely armed. They were in an area where they were going through medical screenings. These were apparently personal weapons, not army-issued. The military does random checks of vehicles entering the base, so this guy probably just carried them on.
Who carries TWO handguns? Even without the korans, this was totally premeditated.
We have a volunteer military. This man had no business EVER joining the military.

I don't think so, PMK. Koran 9:111 doesn't say "kill and die", it says "kill and be killed". But 9:111 isn't the only way to get to Paradise; it's just the absolutely assured way. It says "kill and are killed". So that doesn't mean you have to die the first time you go out, does it? The soldier who is killed by enemy fire without first killing an enemy is no less honorable than the one who killed a dozen before finally dying himself.
Whether you "kill for Allah" or "are killed for Allah" would seem to be irrelevant.
What about the soldier who killed his superiors as they slept in their tent? He'll die someday. He might even be executed by the military. Is his act of jihad rendered meaningless because he wasn't killed as he did it?
