Ah—here's the real crux of the speech: Iran has been jockeying for the past thirty years, and more intensely for the past ten years or so, to become the leader of the Muslim world—with their sponsoring of Hizb'allah and Hamas, and general exportation of Jihad terror.
The only snag has been that Iran is a Shi'ite nation, the only Shi'ite-majority nation in the Muslim world besides Iraq (which Iran has been seeking to dominate—with a good deal of success—ever since the fall of Saddam Hussein). Most of the Muslim world is Sunni, and is suspicious—at best—of Shi'ites.

No, it was brought to the region by Mohammed's associates, who fought over the line of succession. Iranians were still zoroastrian and the rest of the Middle East was uninterested in Arabian politics. No one had ever heard of Zionism, since the diaspora hadn't occurred. The American Revolution was still a millenium away. Shia and Sunnis had been fighting one another for a thousand years before the shot heard round the world was fired.

Muslims wage Jihad on us the Kuffar for generations, then, the unbelievers get translations of the Quran, Hadith and Sunna and learn the ideology of Islam for themselves, then talk publicly about what they have learned about Islam.
