[...] The attorney general has glibly, and most insensitively, called the perverse spectacle he wants to invite on this city and this nation, the "trial of the century." Well, Mr. Attorney General, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed has put you on notice. He's going to give it to you. His trial will be lawyer-assisted jihad in the courtroom.We understand that to the terrorists, jihad is more than spilling American blood, it is forcing us to change our lives, divert our limited resources. When we spend hundreds of millions of dollars on rooftop snipers, kevlar vests and armored vehicles, that's jihad. Mr. Attorney General, this doesn't have to happen. You have called the military commissions system "lawful, fair, and effective" and "consistent with our highest standards as a nation." We agree. We think that is far more than these sworn enemies of America deserve.

It's interesting that the administration is entertaining the idea of turning certain military people over to foreigners in the Hague, stripping them of all American rights, and at the same time bringing terrorists to the US and giving them American rights...The terrorists are more entitled to American rights than are American soldiers 'accused' of a crime. Is there something wrong with this picture?

The fact that the administration seems to want a showcase trial in which KSM is guilty any which way unless he gets off on a technicality bothers me.
KSM said he was guilty and asked to be put to death. He clearly wants martyrdom, so let's indulge him. Everyone will be happy.

Obama was a known anti-American leftist with socialist and Islamic sympathies. The American people got what they bargained for. They will have to pay a price for putting him in the white house.
One thing about this trial that seems unacceptable -- if it is really true -- is the price. Is it true this trial will cost in excess of $70 million? How much would the military commission trial cost? I'll bet a few million at most.

I called the AG's office, and when I told that the receptionist I was calling to oppose his decision to try KSM in Federal court, my call was immediately forwarded to voice mail: the equivalent of a circular file.
This administration is so hellbent on undermining the Bush-Cheney legacy and ingratiating itself to the world that it is willing to put Americans' lives at risk.
