The leader of a group which plotted to blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago has been sentenced to 13-and-a-half years in prison.
Narseal Batiste, 35, also planned to bomb FBI offices, along with four other men who have already been jailed.
Prosecutors said the men conspired to provide material support to al-Qaeda but defence lawyers said the plot was never serious.
Prosecutors in Miami had sought the maximum 70-year sentence for Batiste.
But he maintained he only went along with the plot to seize the $50,000 (£30,000) offered by an undercover FBI agent posing as an al-Qaeda operative.
The men, most of whom have Haitian backgrounds, were arrested in Miami in 2006.
They had been caught on tape by the FBI informant discussing plans to cause an anti-government insurrection.
Batiste was heard on audio and video tape saying they should start a "full ground war" that would "kill all the devils".
'No threat'
Sentencing Batiste, US District Judge Joan Lenard said: "You've done great harm to yourself, your family, the young men who were your followers, and you've violated the trust of your country."
Batiste apologised for the plot in court, saying he had "wanted respect"....
Does seeking respect include gratuitious mayhem? I guess Islam is not really into accomplishments other than those lauded by street gangs.
Hopefully an innocuous administrative oversight will result in him being placed amongst MS-13 members.

13.5 years for being the ringleader of a terrorist plot? No wonder the Muslims keep on attempting more and more terrorist plots. US punishments are a farce. When Muslims riot in Russia or China, the can expect to be brutally cracked down upon by the Russian or Chinese authorities. Yet, despite this brutality, most Muslims seem to accept it and save their anger for the US, Israel, and the West who actually make an attempt to treat them relatively humanely. Despite Singapore being wedged inbetween two Muslim majority countries-Malaysia and Indonesia, you don't see Muslims rioting in the streets, threatening violence if they don't get their way because they know the Singaporean authorities will cane their asses if they don't execute them.
I'm not sure if Churchill said this, but whomever did really did understand Muslims better than most leaders today, "Muslims are either at your throat, or begging at your feet.' Treat Muslims with the contempt they reserve for kaffirs. Fear and might seem to be concepts Muslims understand.

A British Council's report has shockingly revealed that an overwhelming three quarters of people in Pakistan consider themselves as Muslims first and Pakistani's second.
"Only 10 percent have faith in national or local government, the courts or police, while three quarters see themselves as Muslims first, Pakistani second, compared to just 14 percent who see themselves as primarily a citizen of Pakistan," The Daily Times quoted the report, as saying.
Pakistan has more productive youths than dependents, yet is has done nothing to tap this favourable ratio, the report said.
According to the British Council's Next Generation Report on Pakistan, the country is going through a favourable ratio of productive young to old, but it has done nothing to address this demographic dividend over the past two decades.
The report highlighted that this 'window of opportunity', which opened in 1990, would close in 2045, which gives the country 'little over 35 years to change course and reap the economic and social potential attached to such an opportunity.'
The report also pointed out that only 15 percent of the country's youth believe that the country is headed in the right direction.
The report said that over 92 percent youth considered education an important issue which must be addressed soon.
It, however, noted that there is a widespread discontent with regard to democracy among the youth of the country.
Only one third of country's youth considered democracy best for the country, while another third preferred 'sharia'.

When a poor Haitian is offered the chance to acquire by illegitimate means the grand total of $50,000, what do you expect him to do? Perhps the arrest was made too soon when insufficient evidence had been accumulated. Depending upon which facility he gets sent to, will determine the actual length of his time on earth.

Judge, he is not an American. His "country" is the Ummah, the international Death Cult of Mohammed.
The sentence of only 13.5 years is way too light. These judges are still thinking in terms of normal criminals - terrorists are mass killers with a cause for Islam & Allah. His pretense of only wanting the money should have been completely ignored and he should have been considered extremely dangerous and put away from society for life like all such terrorists.
The Hasan case should be a wake-up call not to take chances with people's lives.

The criminal behavior of the Florida-based plotters, members of the Ummah, against the Chicago landmark gives us a glimpse of the tip of the growing Islamo-fascist iceberg in America. Why is this in a civilian court? Terrorism (or warfare) cases need to be tried in a military court. This bozo is dangerous. I would advise detaining him in Gitmo, but our Dear Leader keeps threatening to close this necessary detention camp.
That's an swful short sentence for the US. I remember one 18 year old in Michigan who got sentenced to LIFE in prison over a bag of weed (and no, I don't care how much it was, or even if he was selling it, that's a stupidly long sentence for weed. Especially considered in light of how Muslim terrorists are apparently coddled.)
