Spencer: Pakistan Defeats the Taliban -- Again

In my column in Human Events this morning I discuss Pakistan's longstanding double game:

The Taliban, sponsor of Osama bin Laden, terror-makers for decades, are on the ropes -- at least in Pakistan. Pakistan's foreign minister, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, delivered the good news on Sunday: the Taliban is being routed along the Afghanistan border. "The operation so far has been very successful," he revealed. "The resistance that we were expecting initially did not come with the same swiftness we were expecting."

AP reported that "Pakistan's armed forces hope to rout Taliban militants in the rugged mountainous region along the border with Afghanistan before winter sets in by late December."

In just eight weeks, then, the Taliban in Pakistan -- only recently poised to storm Islamabad and topple Pakistan's government -- will be finished. Qureshi said that Pakistan's armed forces have the Taliban "on the run. They are in retreat and there is disarray over there."

If this sounds too good to be true, that's because it is. Or, at very least, it's the same thing we've heard from Pakistani officials many times before. They have been declaring victory for years now, and their American counterparts have been nodding gratefully and signing the checks.

Read it all.

If Pakistani leaders aren't really willing to drop the hammer, and we in the West won't hold Pakistan accountable either, maybe it's time for us to whisper in India's ear, "Psst..Go for it...roll your tanks & scramble your jets... we've got your back."

Obama_shahada...'I'm not tired'...I'm all fired up and ready to go'...

From post above..."Psst..Go for it...roll your tanks & scramble your jets... we've got your back."

That sounds good, but Rasulullahhaha Obama will never go for it...He is 'all fired up and ready to go', but it's not to go and help India out...He's too busy cleaning up all Bush's left overs...And he's doing that with one hand while fighting Limbaugh and Fox with the other...It's easier to just give Pakistan some more jizya, and ignore India...

Absolutely, Swami. As Representative Alan Grayson said, "FOX News is the enemy of America". If the Taliban were a really big enemy of America, we wouldn't be talking about the "threat" of FOX News, I'm sure. sarc/off

As far as Pakistan goes, even Hillary Clinton is becoming cynical. No one believes what they say, anymore. At this point, it's nothing but threatre—and bad theatre, at that.

We must not succumb to Pakistan's verbal befoggery.

The "Taliban" they are talking about is the self-styled Tehrik-e-Taliban, a 2002 extremist group formed by the South Waziristan tribals.

The real, original Taliban which is in action in Kandahar, is hale and hearty and under no threat. This protege of Pakistan, led by Mullah Omar, is sitting pretty, waiting for the ADF to get out of Afghanistan in bewilderment and disarray, so that they can move in to take charge.

Pakistani Army will never be able to defeat the Taliban. This is because, as Pakistani Interior minister Rehman Malik said, India is funding the Taliban and he has incontrovertible proof of that. Read it all:

India is the real source of terrorists, including 9/11. NOT.
