Sudan: Christian girl gets 50 lashes for wearing "indecent" knee-length skirt

The learned analysts have repeatedly assured us that Sharia provisions do not apply to non-Muslims.

Sharia Alert: "Christian girl, 16, gets 50 lashes for wearing 'indecent' knee-length skirt in Sudan," from the Daily Mail, November 27 (thanks to Alexandre):

A 16-year-old Sudanese girl was lashed 50 times after a judge ruled her knee-length skirt was indecent, her family said today.

The mother of Christian teenager Silva Kashif said she is to sue police and the judge who imposed the sentence under Islamic shariah law.

Saying she only learned about her daughter's conviction after she had been lashed, mother Jenty Doro said the family's religion should have been taken into account.

Kashif, whose family comes from the south Sudanese town of Yambio, was arrested while walking to the market near her home in the Khartoum suburb of Kalatla last week, Doro told Reuters.

'She is just a young girl but the policeman pulled her along in the market like she was a criminal. It was wrong,' said Doro....

In many ways.

"mother Jenty Doro said the family's religion should have been taken into account."

This is what Islamists demand of our societies. This is a good case in point about how they do not reciprocate in theirs.

Question (in faux disbelief):
"What? You mean double standards exist in this situation? Surely NOT! Not in the R.O.P! How could it possibly be? Surely the reporter[s] of this story are exhibiting bias / prejudice / racism / izlum-o-disgustia or some form of common sense...."

Answer (in peevish snarkism)
Methinks that the messogynister of ulluh-hu qWahksmoor would have wanted something even worse for this child. The administrators will probably be punished for being so lenient.

Thank you Robert, for helping us be aware.... "Oh but wait, the followers of the messogynister might be offended!"

Yes, I sure hope so.

Wonderin1

I was recently watching a documentary on the 6-day war in June 1967, when I noticed something interesting. They were reporting on pre-war atmospherics on the West Bank (then, Jordanian territory)...and briefly filmed a street scene in what I believe was Nablus. I noticed a young lady in mini-skirt, purse and beehive hairdo walking down the street. It struck me how "far" the Muslim world has come in the last 30 years as it re-established its own identity.

So much for the CPA. Muslims can't stick to an agreement. This is a bigger punishment than a Muslim woman would get. Worse is to come, as south Sudanese affirm their desire to secede in 2011.

Where are the "human rights" people when you need them? Too busy consoling Islamic belly aches I suppose.
