Which of the Muslims who read here would say that their first loyalty is to their country, and not to the Ummah?

Pursuant to many of the comments above, one of the major reasons why Islam will eventually be placed on the trash heap of history (and last only about half as long as did the ancient Egyptian religion) is due to its many misogynistic aspects. The discrediting of Islam worldwide, which is already well under way, though still in its initial stages, will occur in part because both Muslim and non-Muslim females will increasingly see it for the repressive phenomenon which it is where women are concerned. All the propaganda to the effect that Islam actually honors women will come back to haunt this decrepit faith again and again. It will provide fodder for mockery of a belief system which is as inimical to women's rights as any belief systen which has ever existed. All part of the reason why I'm optimistic long term that Islam is doomed, as it should be.

The obligatory and entirely predictable stuff about what lovely lads they all are and how the neighbours are Shocked! Shocked! to find they have been arrested on suspicion of plotting jihad mayhem, is duly reported.

"In Victoria Terrace, Longsight, a neighbour {Muslim or non-Muslim?} said the arrested man lived in the neat terraced house with his wife, two daughters and a son.
The neighbour added: "They have lived there for about five years and seemed okay to me. *They were always quiet and nice so this has come as a big surprise* {my emphasis - dda}. I am absolutely gob smacked."
Shabnam Yunis, 26, a solicitor who works a few doors away from the shop raided on Stockport Road, Longsight, said: "The two lads who own the shop *are really decent friendly lads* {my emphasis - dda}."

Suure, Mr Muslim solicitor Shabnam Yunis, I'll bet they were 'really decent friendly lads'...but perhaps only to fellow Muslims, like you.

Qur'an surah 48: 29 - "Muhammad is Allah's Apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another” .

As for any British *non-Muslims* in their vicinity, well: the Qur’an several times (Surah 3:117; Surah 5:49, 5:56 and 5:57) expressly forbids Muslims to befriend, or to ally themselves with, unbelievers, with Jews or with Christians but, in Surah 3: 28, advises that this may be done feigningly to protect the Muslim, if the non-Muslims are strong:

“Let believers [Muslims] not take for friends and allies infidels [non-Muslims] instead of believers. Whoever does this shall have no relationship left with Allah — unless you but guard yourselves against them, taking precautions”.

Here, for the benefit of any persons new to this site and this subject who may have found their way here in the course of investigating this particular news story, is a neat summary of the concept of Taqiyya, as provided by Mr Spencer's friend, Arabic-speaking scholar Raymond Ibrahim, in an article entitled “Islam, War and Deceit, a Synthesis, Part One”, posted on this website on 14 February 2009.

Ibrahim (of Coptic Egyptian ancestry, hence his Middle Eastern moniker) sums up some of the key sources thus:

'The primary Koranic verse sanctioning deception vis-à-vis non-Muslims states:

“Let believers [Muslims] not take for friends and allies infidels [non-Muslims] instead of believers. Whoever does this shall have no relationship left with Allah — unless you but guard yourselves against them, taking precautions”
(3:28; other verses referenced by the ulema in support of taqiyya include 2:173, 2:185, 4:29, 16:106, 22:78, 40:28).


'Al-Tabari’s (d. 923) famous tafsir (exegesis of the Koran) is a standard and authoritative reference work in the entire Muslim world.

'Regarding 3:28, he writes:
“If you [Muslims] are under their [infidels’] authority, fearing for yourselves, behave loyally to them, with your tongue, while harboring inner animosity for them. … Allah has forbidden believers from being friendly or on intimate terms with the infidels in place of believers — except when infidels are above them [in authority].

*In such a scenario, let them act friendly towards them* {my emphasis - dda}.”



'Regarding 3:28, Ibn Kathir (d. 1373, second in authority only to Tabari) writes,

“Whoever at any time or place fears their [infidels’] evil may protect himself through outward show.”

'As proof of this, he quotes Muhammad’s close companion, Abu Darda, who said,

“Let us smile to the face of some people [non-Muslims] while our hearts curse them”;

another companion, al-Hassan, said, “Doing taqiyya is acceptable till the Day of Judgment [i.e., in perpetuity].”

So: that some neighbours (all Muslims?) describe these newly-arrested suspected jihad plotters as having been quiet and nice and decent and friendly, means nothing at all.

If *only* Muslims describe them in these terms, it doesn't mean that they were nice to the non-Muslims they met; they might have been anything but, as per the duality described by Surah 48:29 - compassion for fellow Muslims, ruthless cruelty/ harshness/ sternness (the word rendered 'ruthless' in the English translation I referred to, appears as 'stern ' or 'hard' or 'cruel' or 'harsh' in other translations) toward non-Muslims.

If the suspects had non-Muslim neighbours who describe them as quiet and nice, it may simply mean that they (the jihad plotters) were practising classical taqiyya - smiling outwardly at those naive neighbours whilst inwardly reciting curses upon those same neighbours, and biding their time.

I wish the police stop apologising to the Muslim community every time they arrest Muslims on suspicion of terrorist offences - it is not as if the police is at fault.

What next, will the police apologise to the gays every time they arrest a gay person.

This is pure dhimmi behaviour. Apologies should be coming from the Muslim community for putting everyone at risk, as well as wasting the resources of the police.

When I first read the English medievalist J R R Tolkien's epic fantasy "Lord of the Rings", I could not believe that anything like the warring and completely parasitical tribes of Orcs (formerly Elves, but corrupted by the Dark Lord) or the devastated Black Land of Mordor, could possibly exist for any length of time in the real world.

Now, having read Trifkovic's Sword of the Prophet, and Nonie Darwish's analysis of the effects of Sharia on any society that practises it to any extent, and having read most of Bostom's Legacy of Jihad, and V S Naipaul's Among the Believers and Beyond Belief, and Bat Yeor's 'The Decline of Eastern Christianity Under Islam', and James Parkes' account of the devastating effects of 1200 years of Muslim misrule - anarchy alternating with ferocious despotism - upon Canaan/ eretz Israel (an account that in all essential points matches what happened to all other areas that came under Muslim domination - an inexorable process of ecological, intellectual, social, moral, political and demographic collapse) I know that a real-life equivalent to Tolkien's Black Land of Mordor and Dark Lord and the Orcs and Trolls and Sarumans and Wormtongues...exists; and that it is even worse than the mirror-image held up to it in fiction.

'One of the edges of the global clash between Muslims and the rest is a bottle shop in a small and ratty shopping mall in western Sydney.

*The owner of the bottle shop is suffering low-level but steady harassment from his neighbours, who want him gone* {my emphasis - dda}

'*He's a Christian who has been told repeatedly: "This is a Muslim area," and he is selling alcohol, which is proscribed by Islam* {nota bene - are jihadwatch readers reminded of the mosque in New York that warned the restauranteur opposite, to stop publicly serving pork and alcohol, unless he wanted a brick through his windows? - dda}.

'The one-hour parking zone outside the bottle shop is always occupied because local Muslims leave their cars there all day.

'The owner has written to the local council to complain, and nothing has been done.

'* He does not want to be identified because he fears retribution* {My emphasis - dda}. His reaction is sensible.

'A friend of mine, Jenny D, used to live in Lakemba.

*She began receiving insults from people in the street, usually Muslim women wearing headscarves, and sometimes Muslim men. If she wore a short skirt, she could expect abuse or comment. She left Lakemba.* - {my emphasis - dda}.

'most Australians do not appear to realise that the majority of immigrants from the Middle East are not Muslim but Christian.

'The harassed operator of the bottle shop, for instance, is an Arab Christian.

'The Maronite, Catholic and Orthodox Christians from Lebanon, the Christian Palestinians and Iraqis, and Coptics from Egypt, collectively outnumber Muslim immigrants from the Middle East in Australia.

'This majority of Middle Eastern immigrants have been innocent bystanders in the cultural tensions in Sydney since the Cronulla riot and self-styled "intifada" that followed it in December. They are experiencing collateral damage just as Lebanon itself is suffering as Israel uses a sledgehammer on Hezbollah and Shiite Muslims, while causing enormous suffering to the Maronite Christians and Sunni Muslims who had largely run Lebanon in partnership for many decades.

'Anyone who traces the growth of problems in Sydney involving Muslims who began arriving from the Lebanese civil war in the 1970s and 1980s must encounter a two-way street, though you would never know it from most reporting.

'Not just the failure of government policies, high unemployment, and Australian distrust, but numerous episodes of racism or aggressive insularity that arrived as part of the cultural baggage of some refugees.

'*The open contempt some Muslims have for non-Muslims is a common thread throughout the world where Muslims communities rub against the kafirs, or non-believers.* {Note well - dda}.

'This is especially so in Britain, where Western liberalism, freedom and the rule of law have been used as tools to help make it an operational centre of global jihad.

'A report by British intelligence estimates *a quarter of the 1.6 million Muslims living in Britain support jihad at least somewhere in the world* {and the article posted today, which we are currently discussing, drives this home in spades - dda}.

'It is a place where fanatical intolerance hides in plain sight.

'On February 3, between 500 and 700 men marched from the Regent's Park mosque to the Danish embassy in Knightsbridge to protest against the publication of cartoons deemed insulting to Islam. Demonstrators carried posters stating "Exterminate those who slander Islam", "Be prepared for the REAL holocaust", "Massacre those who insult Islam" and "Behead those who insult Islam".

'No arrests were made. As a senior Scotland Yard officer explained after complaints by several British MPs: "We have to take the overall nature of the protesters into account. If they are overheated and emotional we don't go in. It's a risk assessment. If we went in to arrest one person with a banner the crowd would turn on us and people would get hurt."

'The chairman of the Muslim Public Affairs Committee, Asghar Bukhari, said this demonstration should have been stopped by police. "The protesters did not represent British Muslims," he told the BBC. "The placards and chants were disgraceful and disgusting. Muslims do not feel that way. I condemn them without reservation."

'But he didn't have to confront the mob.

'Police in Sydney reached a similar conclusion in December, as an incident report prepared by Bankstown police made clear:

"On the evening of 12/12/05 numerous vehicles were sighted congregating in the vicinity of Punchbowl Park situated on Rose Street, Punchbowl. These vehicles and the crowd that had gathered were suspected to be Middle Eastern criminals who have been involved in malicious damage and civil disobedience offences throughout the Sutherland Shire and St George areas. A direction was given to police about midnight not to enter the area and antagonise these persons."

'The armed and dangerous enemies of tolerance were hiding in plain sight."

Well, there you are, ladies and gentlemen. Read my three postings (and I could find others) and then compare them with the Orwellian language of our Mohammedan dementor, Abdullah Mikail. Because make no mistake, what he's talking about, is how the *Muslims* see the exact same process that has been described, from the non-Muslim POV, in those two comments by 'Arjun sevak' and 'fibrowitch' that I re-posted, and in the article by Paul Sheehan.

In Yugoslavia, Rising Ethnic Strife Brings Fears of Worse Civil Conflict

Portions of southern Yugoslavia have reached such a state of ethnic friction that Yugoslavs have begun to talk of the horrifying possibility of “civil war” in a land that lost one-tenth of its population, or 1.7 million people, in World War II.

The current hostilities pit separatist-minded ethnic Albanians against the various Slavic populations of Yugoslavia and occur at all levels of society, from the highest officials to the humblest peasants.

A young Army conscript of ethnic Albanian origin shot up his barracks, killing four sleeping Slavic bunkmates and wounding six others.

The army says it has uncovered hundreds of subversive ethnic Albanian cells in its ranks. Some arsenals have been raided.

Vicious Insults
Ethnic Albanians in the Government have manipulated public funds and regulations to take over land belonging to Serbs. And politicians have exchanged vicious insults.

Slavic Orthodox churches have been attacked, and flags have been torn down. Wells have been poisoned and crops burned. Slavic boys have been knifed, and some young ethnic Albanians have been told by their elders to rape Serbian girls.

Ethnic Albanians comprise the fastest growing nationality in Yugoslavia and are expected soon to become its third largest, after the Serbs and Croats.

Radicals' Goals
The goal of the radical nationalists among them, one said in an interview, is an “ethnic Albania that includes western Macedonia, southern Montenegro, part of southern Serbia, Kosovo and Albania itself.” That includes large chunks of the republics that make up the southern half of Yugoslavia.

Other ethnic Albanian separatists admit to a vision of a greater Albania governed from Pristina in southern Yugoslavia rather than Tirana, the capital of neighboring Albania.

There is no evidence that the hard-line Communist Government in Tirana is giving them material assistance.

The principal battleground is the region called Kosovo, a high plateau ringed by mountains that is somewhat smaller than New Jersey. Ethnic Albanians there make up 85 percent of the population of 1.7 million. The rest are Serbians and Montenegrins.

Worst Strife in Years
As Slavs flee the protracted violence, Kosovo is becoming what ethnic Albanian nationalists have been demanding for years, and especially strongly since the bloody rioting by ethnic Albanians in Pristina in 1981—an “ethnically pure” Albanian region, a “Republic of Kosovo’ ’ in all but name.

The violence, a journalist in Kosovo said, is escalating to “the worst in the last seven years.”

Many Yugoslavs blame the troubles on the ethnic Albanians, but the matter is more complex in a country with as many nationalities and religions as Yugoslavia's and involves economic development, law, politics, families and flags. As recently as 20 years ago, the Slavic majority treated ethnic Albanians as inferiors to be employed as hewers of wood and carriers of heating coal. The ethnic Albanians, who now number 2 million, were officially deemed a minority, not a constituent nationality, as they are today.

Were the ethnic tensions restricted to Kosovo, Yugoslavia's problems with its Albanian nationals might be more manageable. But some Yugoslavs and some ethnic Albanians believe the struggle has spread far beyond Kosovo. Macedonia, a republic to the south with a population of 1.8 million, has a restive ethnic Albanian minority of 350,000.

“We’ve already lost western Macedonia to the Albanians,” said a member of the Yugoslav party presidium, explaining that the ethnic minority had driven the Slavic Macedonians out of the region.

Attacks on Slavs
Last summer, the authorities in Kosovo said they documented 40 ethnic Albanian attacks on Slavs in two months. In the last two years, 320 ethnic Albanians have been sentenced for political crimes, nearly half of them characterized as severe.

In one incident, Fadil Hoxha, once the leading politician of ethnic Albanian origin in Yugoslavia, joked at an official dinner in Prizren last year that Serbian women should be used to satisfy potential ethnic Albanian rapists. After his quip was reported this October, Serbian women in Kosovo protested, and Mr. Hoxha was dismissed from the Communist Party.

As a precaution, the central authorities dispatched 380 riot police officers to the Kosovo region for the first time in four years.

Officials in Belgrade view the ethnic Albanian challenge as imperiling the foundations of the multinational experiment called federal Yugoslavia, which consists of six republics and two provinces.

’Lebanonizing’ of Yugoslavia
High-ranking officials have spoken of the “Lebanonizing” of their country and have compared its troubles to the strife in Northern Ireland.

Borislav Jovic, a member of the Serbian party's presidency, spoke in an interview of the prospect of “two Albanias, one north and one south, like divided Germany or Korea,” and of “practically the breakup of Yugoslavia.” He added: “Time is working against us.”

The federal Secretary for National Defense, Fleet Adm. Branko Mamula, told the army's party organization in September of efforts by ethnic Albanians to subvert the armed forces. “Between 1981 and 1987 a total of 216 illegal organizations with 1,435 members of Albanian nationality were discovered in the Yugoslav People's Army,” he said. Admiral Mamula said ethnic Albanian subversives had been preparing for “killing officers and soldiers, poisoning food and water, sabotage, breaking into weapons arsenals and stealing arms and ammunition, desertion and causing flagrant nationalist incidents in army units.”

Concerns Over Military
Coming three weeks after the ethnic Albanian draftee, Aziz Kelmendi, had slaughtered his Slavic comrades in the barracks at Paracin, the speech struck fear in thousands of families whose sons were about to start their mandatory year of military service.

Because the Albanians have had a relatively high birth rate, one-quarter of the army's 200,000 conscripts this year are ethnic Albanians. Admiral Mamula suggested that 3,792 were potential human timebombs.

He said the army had “not been provided with details relevant for assessing their behavior.” But a number of Belgrade politicians said they doubted the Yugoslav armed forces would be used to intervene in Kosovo as they were to quell violent rioting in 1981 in Pristina. They reason that the army leadership is extremely reluctant to become involved in what is, in the first place, a political issue.

Ethnic Albanians already control almost every phase of life in the autonomous province of Kosovo, including the police, judiciary, civil service, schools and factories. Non-Albanian visitors almost immediately feel the independence—and suspicion—of the ethnic Albanian authorities.

Region's Slavs Lack Strength
While 200,000 Serbs and Montenegrins still live in the province, they are scattered and lack cohesion. In the last seven years, 20,000 of them have fled the province, often leaving behind farmsteads and houses, for the safety of the Slavic north.

Until September, the majority of the Serbian Communist Party leadership pursued a policy of seeking compromise with the Kosovo party hierarchy under its ethnic Albanian leader, Azem Vlasi.

But during a 30-hour session of the Serbian central committee in late September, the Serbian party secretary, Slobodan Milosevic, deposed Dragisa Pavlovic, as head of Belgrade's party organization, the country's largest. Mr. Milosevic accused Mr. Pavlovic of being an appeaser who was soft on Albanian radicals. Mr. Milosevic had courted the Serbian backlash vote with speeches in Kosovo itself calling for “the policy of the hard hand.”

“We will go up against anti-Socialist forces, even if they call us Stalinists,” Mr. Milosevic declared recently. That a Yugoslav politician would invite someone to call him a Stalinist even four decades after Tito's epochal break with Stalin, is a measure of the state into which Serbian politics have fallen. For the moment, Mr. Milosevic and his supporters appear to be staking their careers on a strategy of confrontation with the Kosovo ethnic Albanians.

Other Yugoslav politicians have expressed alarm. “There is no doubt Kosovo is a problem of the whole country, a powder keg on which we all sit,” said Milan Kucan, head of the Slovenian Communist Party.

Remzi Koljgeci, of the Kosovo party leadership, said in an interview in Pristina that “relations are cold” between the ethnic Albanians and Serbs of the province, that there were too many “people without hope.”

But many of those interviewed agreed it was also a rare opportunity for Yugoslavia to take radical political and economic steps, as Tito did when he broke with the Soviet bloc in 1948.

Efforts are under way to strengthen central authority through amendments to the constitution. The League of Communists is planning an extraordinary party congress before March to address the country's grave problems.

The hope is that something will be done then to exert the rule of law in Kosovo while drawing ethnic Albanians back into Yugoslavia's mainstream.

Just a little local background information. Willows Lane, Deane, Bolton is on the boundary of an area which is almost entirely muslim. The muslim area is expanding and from the shops on the main streets there you might as well be in Pakistan.

A young woman who lived in Deane was told by an “Asian” child she had no right to be in the street because, “My mum and dad say this is our street”. She said her “Asian” neighbours were the worst racists she'd ever met and as her partner was black I assume she had some experience of racism.

The nearest hotel to Deane has an interesting problem with young “Asian” men. Two of them will book a room and then up to a dozen pile in for the night and they all drink themselves into a stupor. As you can imagine the state the room is in afterwards means it's just not worth it for the hotel. While it's unfortunate for the hotel it is a ray of hope for society and should be welcomed. Booze could be the saving of us yet.

A few months ago I was driving down the main road one afternoon when there was some kind of obstruction ahead. As I picked my way past it I saw three well-built Asians dragging a white guy out of the window of his car and simultaneously beating the crap out of him. Everybody nearby, mostly “Asians”, just stood around and watched and so far as I know the other drivers just went on their way. As soon as I could I pulled over and called the police on my mobile, as I recall it the conversation went like this,

Me. - There are three Asians dragging a white man from his car on Deane Road and beating him up!

Police operator. - Three white men beating an Asian?

Me. - No! Three Asians beating a white man!

Police operator. - Can you get the number of his car?

By then white guy had managed to break away and I gave them the number.

Police operator. - What's happening now?

Me. - He's got away and driven off towards town.

Police operator. - Thank you for your call we have your number and we'll be in touch if we need to.

I say a guy that posits that the Arabic word "dharaba" used in the context of Sura 4:34 and usually translated as "beat" -- doesn't mean "beat" but rather "have sexual intercourse" -- is an ass clown.

Here's the usual translation of 4:34
