"The actions taken did cause embarrassment and did offend their religious beliefs. I sincerely apologize to the families and the Islamic community."...
A review of the incident highlighted the need for additional "cultural sensitivity training," said the release, and Dr. Murad Aktas has been tapped to provide it. Details have yet to be worked out.
Windsor police officers assisted RCMP officers Oct. 30 in arresting Yassir Ali Khan and Mohammad Al-Sahli, who were wanted by the FBI in connection with a raid on an allegedly radical Islamic group in Michigan. They were released on bail last Friday in Windsor as their lawyer, Patrick Ducharme, cited their lack of a criminal record and their "long-standing ties to the community."
The Windsor police news release stresses the two suspects and their families were "cooperative" during the arrest and that the suspects walked out of their homes and turned themselves into police.
"In the course of the arrest, officers on the scene had interaction with the families of both men. It is this interaction that raised concerns among family members and the Islamic community about the cultural sensitivity of Windsor police officers," said police. "The review of this incident revealed that the officers needed to balance their operational requirements with the expectations of the Islamic community. Based on training provided in 2007 the officers believed they had struck an appropriate balance; the community did not."...

Why should he apologize? Their beliefs ARE offensive. Being a Canadian ex-Muslim the Quranic verses below -- referring to Islam’s prescribed treatment for apostates -- literally threatens my life. I just read the police union are upset at their chief for the apology, saying they did nothing wrong and with this apology you are admitting you did something wrong. well l can tell from the comments in the windsor rag everyone is upset at this apology. we are fed up with laws for us and a pass for them.
I think the union should file a grievance over this. When a police chief does this sort of unjustifiable pandering, it demorzlizes the officers and emboldens the Islamists by feeding their sense of victimhood and contempt for the authorities.
You properly ask when are these folks going to realize that force is all Muslims understand (true of all totalitarians, anything less will be interpreted by them as weakness). How about never? It will take a new breed in the West to really get it. Right now, we have useful idiots in charge (General Casey comes foremost to mind right now for the "dhimmi of the week" award). As for the comments re: drugs, perhaps the answer is to actually take a cue from Marx and declare Islam a drug. It affects the brain worse and more quickly than any street drug, and then the police might be more willing to do something about Islam-inspired crime.

Wasn't this case connected to honor killings? Didn't the "suspects" kill two young girls in the name of family honor? I realize that the police must follow official protocol when conducting searches, interrogations, and other investigative work but how can they be expected to follow two sets of rules---one for muslims and one for everyone else? No other ethnic or religious group is afforded special treatment, and rightly so. If I'm right and these savages had just killed their own flesh and blood, were apologies in order for following police protocol? Murder is fine and dandy but don't touch the muslima; that's not allowed. INSANITY!!!!
Muslims comprise about 2% of the total U.S. population. Why would such a tiny group of non-conformist, unassimilated, alien creeps need dozens of advocacy groups, constant news coverage/publicity via the lying shills at CAIR, and endless uninformed explanations of islam from ignorant, apologist "experts" or lying muslims who love to go on television and enlighten the ignorant masses? Why does the president and congress focus on the "muslim community", ignoring the many other ethnic/religious "communities" that far outnumber muslims in America? What is so damn special about muslims? Why do we have to change the way we do things to accomodate 2% of the population? It's never been done before and I don't know of any other minority ethnic/religious group asking for such expansive special treatment, only muslims.
We are literally changing our society to accomodate what amounts to a handful of demanding, obnoxious, intolerant, supremacist invaders. The airport footbaths, special prayer rooms in schools and other public buildings, special food in public schools, and so many other small, seemingly insignifigant measures to appease their incessant demands are proof of their imperialist agenda. Their in-your-face demands for recognition and "respect" are disgusting, especially when their pious brothers are plotting or committing acts of terror all over the country. I just don't get it. Even the disease of political correctness doesn't adequately explain this phenomenon.
