As the liars and defamation artists try to obscure the truth about honor killing in connection with the Rifqa Bary apostasy case, the death of another Rifqa once again shows the truth: "Woman Killed in al-Shati Refugee Camp to 'Maintain Family Honor,'" from the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, December 2 (thanks to David Wood):
On Friday afternoon, 27 November 2009, Rifqa Ghazi 'Abdullah Salama, 29, from al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City, was killed allegedly "to maintain family honor."According to police sources in al-Shati, at approximately 13:30 on Friday, 27 November 2009, the woman's brother, two uncles and two cousin strangled her using a wet towel while she was sleeping at home near Hmaid intersection in al-Shati refugee camp. The police initiated an investigation into the murder and arrested the 5 accused persons. Initial investigations indicate that the woman was killed allegedly to "maintain family honor."...
According to PCHR's documentation, the number of people killed allegedly "to maintain family honor" since the beginning of 2009 has amounted to 10 (7 women, two men and a child) in 8 crimes. One of these crimes was committed in the West Bank, whereas the rest of the crimes were committed in the Gaza Strip.
PCHR strongly condemns this latest crime, and:
1. Expresses concern over the recurrence of murders against women in the Occupied Palestinian Territory [sic!] allegedly "to maintain family honor." Such recurrence may be attributed to the relative impunity granted to murderers, who are often sentenced to less than 3 civil years of imprisonment, equivalent to 24 months of effective imprisonment.
2. Calls for suitable deterrent penalties to be applied to "family honor" murders. These murders must be dealt with in the same manner as other crimes of willful killing, taking into consideration international human rights standards. Many murderers use the claim of maintaining family honor as a justification for the crimes they commit in order to benefit from more lenient sentences.
Waiting for the peanut gallery to chime in and assure us that "honor killings" are only a cultural thing....
Anytime, fellas...we're waiting...
No kidding, Boneshack! ...those silly 'misunderstanders' of Islam, when will they ever learn? tsk tsk
In any Muslim community, a Muslim man demonstrates his good standing within that community by the amount of control he has over his wife, children and any other female relation that is living with him. His "honor" is dependent on the behavior of the women in his house. If one of them frees herself from his control (Rifqa Bary defied her father by becoming an apostate and then running away from his control), then he is justified in taking any action to restore his "honor'.
How will Mohamed Bary restore his "honor"? He has to, at any cost, have his daughter returned to his abusive household. He also has to, again at any cost, return his daughter to Islam.
And if she refuses?
The story above details her fate.
The saddest thing about Rifqa's case is that the dhimmi government of Ohio is doing everything it can to assist Mohamed Bary (who is in this country illegally) to restore his "honor". Since when does the Buckeye state stand with barbarians and murderers?
Well, Boneshack and Champ, why don't you enlighten me? Please show me the host of contemporary, mainstream, orthodox Islamic mujtahid who have delivered official juridical opinions that state that Muslim males have the right or duty to murder female relatives.
By the way, isn't it, like, way cool that Jihad Watch is actually quoting the Palestinian Center for Human Rights. I thought it was a de facto position around here that they were all a bunch of mindless barbarians. Maybe we'll soon see JW quote PCHR regarding Israeli human rights violations. No, wait...
Show me something in the Qur'an, the Hadith, the Sira and Shariah laws that says you may NOT kill your wife, daughter or female relatives.
"None so blind 'n deaf and those who will not see 'n hear"
Enlighten yourself, pal.
"I thought it was a de facto position around here that they were all a bunch of mindless barbarians."
If the shoe fits, pal, go right ahead an wear it.
It takes 5 Muslim male cowards to kill a woman. This is how Muslims safe guard and honour women in Islam.
Demonic!
With each passing day I grow more impatient with:
> idiots who believe in omnipotent, invisible deities
> that have 'revealed' totally unverifiable 1000+ year old
oracles
> to illiterate indigenous 'prophets'
> consisting of laws about the inscrutable but inerrant
meanings of life
> which must be followed on pain of damnation.
> And people who actually tolerate belief in this
nonsense without at least insulting the barbarians who
believe it.
The death warrant for the girl in Ohio will happen as soon as she is exposed to her parents because of this belief of "honor killing". Until Muslim women are allowed to pray and have equal rights as Muslim men, this will continue. It is one screwed up religion.
I have received information that the Rifqa Bary case might just possibly have a happy ending.
There was an article in the Dec. 2 edition of the Columbus Dispatch, the daily paper in Ohio's Capital. The version of it that I got off the Patriotic Resistance's site, Ohio Patriots division was that Rifqa could get to live on her own. We should not let up yet in our efforts. Send her a Christmas card and if you live anywhere near Columbus please go to the rally there on DEc. 22.

Very interesting story in today's Columbus Dispatch regarding the Rifqa Bary situation. Interesting bits from this article:
"The girl, who goes by Rifqa, is at the center of a dependency case that will decide where she should live. Among several options in the plan is that Rifqa, who will turn 18 in August, could live on her own."
"Franklin County Children Services is required to prepare a case plan for any of its cases that are being decided in court."
"The plan for Rifqa and her parents sets a goal of reuniting the family and suggests that family members talk about religion and visit and communicate regularly. The discussion about religion would happen upon a therapist's recommendation or when all parties agree to it.
A case plan is not binding unless it becomes a court order, said Anne O'Leary, chief legal counsel for Children Services. That won't happen until the facts are determined and the case is decided."
"A caseworker developed the plan with Rifqa and her parents, but only Children Services workers signed it. Rifqa and her parents disagree with the plan, and so does the guardian the court appointed for her, according to the paperwork filed with the court on Monday.
The plan reveals that Rifqa does not wish to see her parents, who both want to see her. She also is resisting visiting her brothers. Rifqa's reason for not wanting contact is "healing purposes," it says.
Mohamed Bary and his wife, Aysha, agree with Rifqa's current placement in foster care but would like a relationship with her, the plan says."
"If she and her parents can't resolve their disagreements and another home isn't found, the agency will recommend a Planned Permanent Living Arrangement. Such plans are designed for children who can't go home or be adopted and sometimes are used for those 16 or older."
Gives me a little hope...

Yeah, foster care is acceptable because the world is watching. Rifqa is still in danger.
According to a UN report, 5000 women a year in the middle east are murdered due to "honor" killings. The UN gave a watered down condemnation of "honor" killings.
Of course, the Islamic apologists and their counterparts will say this has nothing to do with Islam, but is a cultural thing.
Hmm, well I do not see it happening in the Asian culture, or the western culture, I do not even see it happening in the latino culture, so how is this a cultural thing?
The only "culture" I see it happening in is the Islamic belief system.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan said in an annual report that one woman is raped every three hours in Pakistan. Even worse, 72% of all women in police custody in Pakistan are physically and sexually abused. The Woman’s Action Forum says that 75% of all women in jail are under the charge of "zina" (fornication). It was never stated how many men, if any, were in jail for that.
Let us not forget that when a woman in Saudi Arabia was raped, the King was going to have her executed, only with international outcry did he exonerate her.
Let us not forget the Pakistani father in Atlanta, who murdered his daughter because she wanted to divorce her Pakistani husband whom her father had arranged in marriage.
Or forget about Amina and Sarah, two beautiful girls murdered by their Egyptian Muslim father for being and acting too "western", and dating non-muslim men.
Did we forget that the muslim radio host who tried to portray muslims in a good light beheaded his wife because she wanted to divorce him?
If women are the property of men in Islam and has to do as he wills, that he can beat her if he considers her "uncooperative," (his interpretation of uncooperative)and has to have the consent of her father to marry a man, does it not give him the right or any male relative the right to "punish" her as they see fit? This means "honor" killings.
Actually, Muslim scholars disagree on marrying a virgin against her will. Abu Dawud vol.2 footnote 1426 p.561. For example, Yahya said he heard others [not Mohammned] says that if a virgin is given in marriage by her father without her permission, it is binding on her. Muwatta’ Malik 28.2.7
The Hanafites are the largest of the four major schools of Sunni Islam. Hanafi also taught that even if the woman is an adult, a guardian’s permission is still required. Abu Dawud vol.2 footnote 1409 p.557
A marriage is not valid unless the woman’s guardian gives consent. A woman who marries a man only with her own consent is an adulterer. Ibn-i-Majah vol.3 no.1879-1882 p.137-139.
