An update on this story. "Islamists claim killing of Russian priest," from Agence France-Presse, December 26:
MOSCOW -- An Islamist militant group based in Russia's North Caucases [sic] has claimed the killing last month of an Orthodox priest who was an outspoken critic of Islam.
"One of our brothers who has never been to the Caucases took up the oath of (former independent Chechen president Doku Umarov) and expressed his desire to execute the damned Sysoyev," said a statement on the Kavkazcenter.com website.
Daniil Sysoyev, 35, was killed on November 20 when masked gunman walked into Saint Thomas's church in southern Moscow and shot him four times.
Doku Umarov emerged as the leader of the remaining active rebel movements in the North Caucases in 2007 and is considered enemy number one in the region by Russian authorities.
The statement on the Kavkazcenter.com website, which is often used by militants, accused Sysoyev of writing several pamphlets insulting Islam.
It warned "those in the future who defame Islam and insult the religion of Allah will suffer the fate as Sysoyev."
Sysoyev, who was criticised by Muslim organisations for his statements on Islam, had reportedly contacted Russian security services several times over threats.

Muslims will suffer the pain and anguish of hellfire for the sin of killing a priest on holy ground and for the torchings of churches and killing of the devout in multifarius cultures and lands around the world.
Islam today is no different than the Islam of 1100 years ago. And its recent resurgence in this "Third Jihad" is merely its last thrust of the sword in the struggle of a dying cult of violence and oppression in its effort to survive. The Muslim Brotherhood brought it back to life and the Muslim Brotherhood will take it to its grave. Hopefully it will die forever this time.
Any people and ideology that commits atrocities such as these will not stand the test of time. It will turn in upon itself and wither away like a morning flower exposed to the hot midday sun.

Whoever (or whatever) translated this French article probably got confused by the fact that in French, "the Caucasus" is rendered le Caucase -- neither one plural, though the English resembles a plural noun. I suppose if, in English, there were more than one Caucasus region, they would be denoted as "the Caucasuses", while in French it would be the less cumbersome les Caucases -- which happens to be the form of the error made in the translated article. ("The Caucasuses" sounds like the name of the neighbors of The Fockers...)

Most of us in the West first heard of this threat with the fatwa on Salman Rushdie, but it is nothing new. The "Prophet" Muhammed himself had critics assassinated, including a nursing mother with young children.
How many good people are laboring under this threat? Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Wafa Sultan, Geert Wilders, little Rifqa Bary, our own Robert Spencer—on and on, and with the spread of blasphemy and "hate speech" laws, the threat is widening.
It is incumbent on good people to "insult" evil, even-or especially—in the face of growing threats.

Look I am against Islam don't get me wrong they are a bunch of idiots believing what they do but don't forgot the Russian Orthodox Church has many sins too.
For one it was forcing conversions to the Jewish people or it was your death just like Islam is doing now.

"insulting Islam" covers a multitude of sins as we Christians put it-from defending the right of Danish naewspapers to carry"blasphemous"cartoons to refusing to convert to Islam or any other attitude to this faith other than uncritical reverence(much as the late unlamented Soviet Union termed "anti-Sovietism) Curious still is the attitude of certain left-wing organisations in the West that for reasons best known to themselves hace taken to flacking for jihadism!

The .45 ACP is my preferred handgun caliber. The song says that "diamonds are a girl's best friend" but I find a good .45 is a much better friend. Many women prefer the .45 auto once they try it. The recoil is more comfortable than many smaller calibers. I have handguns in many smaller calibers, too, but .45 ACP is definitely my favorite. It has been reliably knocking down drug-crazed fanatics for well over a century. I carry a compact 9mm when bicycling.
The long guns are mostly 7.62x54r Mosins (fun to shoot), along with some 7.62x39, 8mm Mauser, 30-30 Winchester, 6.5x55, .303 British, 5.56 mm, .22 and 45-70 Government thrown into the mix. I love my Mosin M91 rifles (fun to shoot) & they often must be fired with a fixed bayonet if I expect to hit my target. Shooting a rifle taller than I am and roughly 100 years old adds to the fun of shooting, as does the fireball that comes out of the muzzle. Daniil was not forcing anyone to convert but was preaching to the Muslims, being and doing what a Christian priest must do, what all Christians must do with love - many DID convert and thus he is a new martyr because of his love of Christ and for his fellow man. No forcing just plain speaking of the Truth.
The Jews are not the only ones to suffer from pogroms. This type of behavior is not of God nor His Church and has historically been linked to political aims. Why should the Church have to defend against something so obviously not Christian?
Sadly, most of what fallen humanity has committed in the name of God is not OF God and what some do in the name of the Church is not OF the Church.
