Jihad Watch reader James has alerted me to an email campaign by Leftist and Islamic supremacists, complaining to USA Today for quoting me in this article. Never mind that the smooth dissembler Salam al-Marayati of MPAC is also quoted -- the Leftist/Jihadist thugs are increasingly desperate that the truth not come out, anywhere, and so are calling upon their drones to write to these addresses at USA Today:
Brent Jones, Reader Editor: accuracy@usatoday.com
Oren Dorell, the author of the piece on honor killing: odorell@gmail.com
The object of the Leftist campaign is twofold: to discredit me and to claim that honor killing is universally condemned in Islam. There are the usual Libelblogger Charles Johnson lies about my supposedly supporting fascists and genocide, and flimsy and fanciful claims about inaccuracy in my work, but that is not important -- if USA Today falls for that farrago of lies, distortions, and guilt by association attacks, more fool they. What is more important is that the Leftists and jihadists want to make sure that the truth doesn't get out about the support for honor killing in Islam.
There is a very ugly edge to this campaign: women's lives are at stake, and these Leftists and Islamic supremacists want to ensure that no one knows why, and that no one does anything about it. So I am asking you to write to USA Today also. Thank them for offering the truth about Islamic honor killing. You may wish to offer them some of this information in support of my assertion in the article that "there is broad support and acceptance of this idea in Islam":
Syria recently scrapped a law limiting the length of sentences for honor killings, but "the new law says a man can still benefit from extenuating circumstances in crimes of passion or honour 'provided he serves a prison term of no less than two years in the case of killing.'"
That's right: two years for murder! You can serve more time than that for serial double parking.
In 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that "Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values."
And a manual of Islamic law certified as a reliable guide to Sunni orthodoxy by Al-Azhar University, the most respected authority in Sunni Islam, says that "retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right." However, "not subject to retaliation" is "a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring's offspring." ('Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2).
In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law.
Please write to USA Today, thanking them for their coverage and, if you wish, offering them some or all of this supporting material. Thank you.
If casual readers of this blog doubt the existence of taquiyya, Robert's situation should lay those doubts to rest. All muslims know that there are no consequences for honor killing in Sharia law. In fact, an example of honor killing is detailed in the Qur'an ("The Green Man"). There is no fierce debate among Muslims as to whether, in view of the march of history, to abandon this hideous practice. A Muslim man's status in an Islamic society depends on his ability to control his wife and daughters. Again, there is no question amongst Muslims as to whether women have equal rights.
What is more important for this discussions is that there is no group of Muslims willing to break the Muslim "Code of Silence" and honestly admit that honor killing arises from Sharia Law and the teachings of Mohammed. The "sin of omission" is lack of candor and frankness about an issue that is common in Muslim societies and has migrated (along with the other primitive superstitions of Islam) to the West.
The West must understand that the principle of taquiyya rules the Muslim mind on this issue and others. Honor killings are accepted in Islamic society and in Islamic governance. What is not "honorable" is admitting this truth to the unsuspecting infidels.
This is the regime that Muslims want to establish over the entire world.
Off Topic, but astounding:

Off Topic again: maybe the story about the Air Tran flight is too much of a comic book hero story to be true. One poster (on www.snopes.com) referred to "the three Abrahamic religions" -- sorry about that -- but made me laugh.
****
"The 3rd stewardess informed them that they were not to have electronic devices on at this time. To which one of the men said “shut up infidel dog!”
If only someone had yelled out, "In the name of Jesus, I rebuke thee!" and a third person said, "Oy!", we could have had all the Abrahamic religions portrayed stereotypically -- all on the same flight!
StillBreathing--
Glad you went OT since I wanted to know what/if the 'low-down' on this story is true. Snopes says it's a mixture of truth and fiction but I've yet to see any official mention of the 'I' or 'M' word, just references to 'non-English' speakers and a miscommunication for lack of a near-by interpreter. I hope to see more reliable information forthcoming and that's why I looked at JihadWatch for the non-taquiyya version.
Off Topic, yet again. Thanks, islam_is_islam.
It seems that another passenger confirms the story, as indicated by a worthwhile essay, cited below.
We can only watch the story unfold; it may be a hoax or an enemy's attempt to intimidate and to check-out procedures and reactions on a domestic flight.

Re: Airtran. Wow.
I followed both links; the chaplain seems honest and credible to me. It's unfortunate he wasn't aboard the first himself to witness, but I doubt the passenger he was talking to was lying, either.
Those men disrupting the flight should have been told to walk to Houston.
If this AirTran story is true, it needs to get its own heading. Robert, please keep us posted.
If middle eastern men board a plane and behave this way (as the flying imams did) it is because law abiding Americans fear charges of PC bigotry MORE than death.
They won.
As far as air marshalls, they're probably being recruited from mosques.
ON TOPIC! :-)
I just perused the comments on the USA Today article. There were 959 when I was there a second ago, and it looks like the vast majority are anti-Islamic supremacism, and that people are waking up to the threat posed by Islam.
So, I think that's positive news.
Very few cases of "Honour Killing" are reported to authorities, perhaps one out of fifty.
In Arab societies to snitch on a neighbour or friend is absolutely forbidden.
In Israel we usually receive an anonymous "tip" from a mother or boyfriend that leads us to murder's in Arab villages.
If the Airtran story is 'only' an internet myth, or urban legend, it is still a very *interesting* internet myth.
An author named Jan Harold Brunvand, Prof Emeritus at the University of Utah has written books - e.g. 'The Choking Doberman' - about urban legends. He also has a website - janbrunvand.com.
It's a while since I read his books but I remember him saying that urban legends are the modern equivalent of the folktales of old. They tell us what people fear, what they think should or should not happen; they are, so to speak, parables, cautionary tales.
The fact that this story exists and that it is circulating...at a rate of knots?...tells us something about what is happening in the American psyche (and the Infidel psyche in general) as this vast War Against That Which May Not Be Named continues to hot up.
That ancient and unsung storyteller, Anonymous, is doing his job even if Hollywood isn't.
dumbledoresarmy, that was an interesting comment.
by the way, i'm not sure that the dr. robinson described in the one writeup is the same as the man who claims he was on the flight.
"Honour Killing" The Male Mohammadan muslims
is the biggest cowards...the honour killing...
During our great..great.. grandfathers time
when we speak of honour killing... we have
two seconder.. the duel will with a swords,
or pistols in the hands of the duelist and
walk back to back till about twenty feet and
turn around to shoot or prepare to duel with
the swords... the winner defends his Honour..
I have contacted USA TODAY and thanked them. I also asked them to do do a story on Rifqa and help pevent another one.
As for the Airtran story, I live in Atlanta and hadn't heard about this. I have often said that our airport is a litle Detroit with all the Muslim businesses.

their definition of 'honor' is not ours.
Ours is based upon equality, man to man, face to face: a fair fight. And behind that, we tend to see most honour in the little guy (so long as he is in the right, objectively, as regards truth) squaring up to the big guy (when the big guy happens to be in the wrong). Our archetype there is David and Goliath; or rabbi Jesus, beaten and crowned with thorns, talking back to Pilate the fearsome Roman governor, as coolly and man-to-man as if they are having an after-dinner conversation in the loggia.
The *Muslim* definition of 'honor' seems to involve the possession and amoral display of total power: the idea that 'honor' is derived from having the most power and using it to the max, preferably upon someone who can't fight back. It's the sadist's, the serial killer's and the slavemaster's definition: one displays one's power most splendidly...by ruthlessly stamping on the faces of those weaker than oneself!
G K Chesterton both defines and excoriates this perverse definition of 'honor', in his 1915 essay 'The Barbarism of Berlin', in which he identifies it - to his horror - in the Prussian military caste.
He diagnoses and anatomises the spiritual sickness that, steadily engulfing Germany, would lead, in a few more decades, to Nazism. Curiously, Chesterton doesn't seem to have realized that the same deadly spiritual sickness is - and was - present in Islam, in spades, even though the essay does glancingly refer to Islam in a few places.
Nevertheless, for any jihadwatcher, GKC's analysis of Prussian barbarism
http://www.fullbooks.com/The-Barbarism-of-Berlin.html
can also function as a pretty damn good analysis of Mohammedan barbarism.
As a companion piece, just to lift the spirits, since you've mentioned the duel as traditionally practised in the pre-modern and early modern western world: read Paul Gallico's "The Adventures of Hiram Holliday", set in Europe just prior to the outbreak of World War II.
I wish someone today would make it into a film.
