Flight 253 jihadist was president of London college's Islamic society

How did a Misunderstander of Islam gain such a position?

And meanwhile, Yemen seizes the opportunity to beg for handouts. "'Hundreds of al-Qaeda militants planning attacks from Yemen,'" by Joanna Sugden for the Times Online, December 29:

Hundreds of al-Qaeda militants are planning terror attacks from Yemen, the country's Foreign Minister said today.

Abu Bakr al-Qirbi appealed for more help from the international community to help to train and equip counter-terrorist forces.

His plea came after an al-Qaeda group based in Yemen claimed responsibility for the failed Christmas Day airliner bomb plot.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, alleged to be behind the attempt to blow up an American-bound aircraft, spent time in Yemen with al-Qaeda and was in the country only days before the failed attack.

Dr al-Qirbi said: "Of course there are a number of al-Qaeda operatives in Yemen and some of their leaders. We realise this danger.

"They may actually plan attacks like the one we have just had in Detroit. There are maybe hundreds of them -- 200, 300."

Dr al-Qirbi said it was the "responsibility" of countries with strong intelligence capabilities to warn states such as Yemen about the movements of terror suspects. [...]

Mr Abdulmutallab's former tutors at University College London, where he was a student between 2005 and 2008, described him as "well-mannered, quietly spoken, polite and able" and said that he never gave any cause for concern. He was president of the institution's Islamic society between 2006 and 2007....

Folks, check out Wafa Sultan's "A God Who Hates".

Fantastic read.

The only drawback is that the cultural influence of her Arab/Muslim background results in occasional lapses into hyperbole...but on the other hand, she gives an insider's view, something that might sway the liberal reader and his prejudices against so-called "orientalism".

..................

And what does the current president of London College's Islamic Society—Salman Butt—have to say?

"Come and surround yourself with people that will help you worship The Most Merciful better and become righteous, upright members of your communities."

Just like Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab!

more:

"If you are a non-Muslim and want to think for yourself and learn about this beautiful way of life, we are here to help and offer from its sources. Whoever you are, the Islamic Society is here to cultivate YOU."

Yes—I'm sure they do want to "cultivate us". But if you are still loathe to "think for yourself" [cough], they can just murder us in spectacular suicide bombings!

Minor edit for the truth:

"If you are a non-Muslim and don't want to think for yourself and learn about this oppressive way of life, we are here to help and offer from its sources. Whoever you are, the Islamic Society is here to subjugate YOU."

Much, much better!

Typical news coverage for mass killer:

TV: We are standing outside the home of the killer (turns to neighbor for interview)
TV: What can you tell us about killer, did you have any reason to suspect he/she would kill xx people?
Neighbor: We didn't talk much, killer kept to himself/herself, mainly we waived hi and bye. He/she seemed religious, as we heard frequent prayers, but he/she was quiet, but kept his/her lawn mowed and once bought some Girl Scout Cookies from my daughter. We as neighbors were very surprised when we heard that killer killed xx people.
TV: So you had no idea killer would kill?
Neighbor: No, he/she was a quiet man/woman.

note: he/she added to be politically correct, but we all know mass murderers are all crazy white middle aged men.

President of the London College's Islamic Society? Wow! I see a speaking engagement at Columbia University in his future.

Yes, it was reported on all the major networks. NOT....

Dr al-Qirbi said it was the "responsibility" of countries with strong intelligence capabilities to warn states such as Yemen about the movements of terror suspects. [...]

Yes, our government is now going to inform all muslim countries of the terror suspects movements within. Then Yemen et al. will notify the suspects that they are being watched. Of course this will reveal the methods being used and risk lives. Then we may host these same people, at least until they decide to self annihilate becoming mass murderers.

Wait one minute! The New York terrorist trial is going to reveal anti-terrorism methods and risk the lives of operators. When someone dictates policy knowing that classified material will have to be revealed are they committing a crime? The definition of Top Secret information is information that if revealed may cause grave damage to the national security of the United States.
The answer is in front of you.
