CNN reported yesterday that NWA Flight 253 Undie-bomber Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab attended the 16-day "Ilmfest" in Houston sponsored by the Al Maghrib Institute in August 2008 and two other Al Maghrib seminars in London before that (HT: JihadWatch). Al Maghrib trots out Yasir Qadhi to claim he's shocked, SHOCKED! to see a terrorist associated with their organization (except, oops!, so was convicted terrorist Daniel Maldonado).
But we can report exclusively at the Jawa Report that Qadhi's Houston-based Ilmquest was selling more than a dozen different CD sets by none other than Al-Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki as recently as last month. Ilmquest continued to hawk Awlaki's wares even after the Ft. Hood massacre, but scrubbed any mention of Awlaki from their site as soon as he was connected to the Ft. Hood incident. And CNN informs us that Yasir Qadhi was a featured speaker at the U.S. Counter-Radicalization Strategy conference organized by the National Counterterrorism Center in the summer of 2008. The same NCTC that epicly failed to connect the dots on AbdulMutallab.

Maybe Fareed over at CNN can bring young Yasir in for an intereview, they can hold a frank interview talking about the wonders and mysteries that Moslems must deal with in their daily lives inside the troubled womb of the Islam Ummah.

If Islam is above criticism, and it is above criticism, then who's to criticize our Yasir here? It'd be revealing to list the content in his various tapes and books, to see if there's any bona fide content of Islam that is less than desirable. But that wouldn't be fair, now would it. No reporter would ever do that, even if he wanted to, cuz if he found anything uncomplimentary to the troubled Islam Ummah it'd never get broadcast, be a total waste of time.
Again we see that counting on so-called moderate Muslims is a fool's errand. Many "moderate" Muslims are not really so moderate after all (like this turkey) or if they really are non-haters and in their daily life truly not themselves a threat to society, big deal. What they believe in, the ideology they adhere to, remains forever inimical to liberty, equality under the law and the Golden Rule applied to all regardless of religious belief.
Islam is the enemy of freedom-loving folks and individual Muslims will never be able to do anything about this, just as individual Communists or Nazis could never have created a kinder, gentler Communism or Nazism. When a belief is rotten, it's rotten for all time.
Who gives a crap if muslims are nice guys outside the masjid or learning center or whatever name muhammadans give their barracks. Inside their headquarters (read: learning center or masjid or mosque) every muhammadan is expected to follow orders and espouse the party line. There's no attenuating the foundational texts which clearly show the superiority of the muhammadan.
Why even call yourself a muhammadan in the first place if you don't think you have a god-given right to rule the world.
Another two-faced Islamic leader (tells his Muslim followers one thing and the media another), no surprise here. So there are at least two known jihadists that passed through his conferences, which should be cause to investigate this Al-Maghrib\IlmFest group and its organizers further. What other jihadists may have passed through their Islamic classes? What exactly were they taught that would encourage or discourage them from "extremism"? Will anyone in the media look into these questions?

Qadhi guy is a moron of the highest order. Firstly there aint 95% Jews studying Islam in the States. Most people study Islam in order to confront morons like Qadhi. It is certainly true that many of the great scholars of Islam -- e.g., Ignaz Goldziher, David Margoliouth, Georges Vajda -- were Jews, but then a great number -- C. Many of those who do go into Islamic studies today are self-selected; they find it appealing not as earlier Orientalists did, as a subject for disinterested inquiry, but because they already find something "attractive" about Islam or the Arabs (Ibn Warraq has told me that in his experience, the proportion of those non-Muslims who exhibit the telltale signs of antisemitism is higher for those who go into Islamic and Middle Eastern studies, for there an obvious and socially semi-acceptable outlet awaits them). And even if you did not really find Islam so wonderful, and even if you did have any degree of physical fear, and even if you did have a touch of antisemitism, you might want to make sure that your Muslim colleagues give you good reviews,at least until tenure, and afterwards, easy teaching loads or schedules, recommendations for summer grants and other fellowships, even access to Arab moneymen who might endow a little of this and a little of that, not to mention all-expense-paid trips to Saudi Arabia for a King Faisal II Prize for Services To Islam (Scholarly Division). Of course many will play right along, and who cares if their students are being grossly misinformed about Islam.

I think that anyone who is convicted of violence or attempted violence, including abetting others, in the name of religion should be denied their religious rights completely and for a long term going further than their incarcerations if their punishment doesn't include life imprisonment or death, in which case such denial of rights would last until death.
If I'm right, felons lose the right to vote in much of the U.S.A..
They should be kept well away from Imams coming into the prisons - if possible keeping these Imams out of the prison system completely, as they have obviously greatly contributed to the problem. Finding Islam in prisons doesn't seem to have benefited much at all, to the contrary (US,France,Britain)!
In other words, no more consideration to abdulmutalab's islamic sensibiities, he should get the treatment any degenerate mass murderer deserves! He left humanity when he tried to light that fuse!
