When libelblogger and CAIR tool Charles Johnson began to betray all his principles and sling wild false accusations at his former friends and associates, I knew it was only a matter of time before he abandoned Israel and embraced the very same jihadists he used to oppose and mock so vociferously (and sometimes with a cringe-making hatefulness that has now been revealed as the one constant in his approach).
And now it is beginning: he has in a recent post approvingly quoted Elizabeth May, a venomous Israel-hater who spoke in August 2006 at an anti-Israel rally full of supporters of the jihad terrorist group Hizballah.
Thus using the very same fractured logic that Johnson has used to defame me and many others as racists, fascists, supporters of genocide, etc., the conclusion is clear: libelblogger Charles Johnson now supports Hizballah.
Hoist by his own petard.
And fractured logic aside, watch for Johnson's abandonment of Israel -- his new Leftist masters will demand it. He has already banned several longtime commenters, including Carl In Jerusalem, as "Kahanists." And Elizabeth May is someone the old Johnson never would have quoted in any context except as an opponent. Those who thought that Israel would never go under the Lizardoid bus should be watching the wheels in the coming weeks and months.
UPDATE: Johnson, brazening it out, denies that May spoke at an anti-Israel, pro-Hizballah rally. Uh, Charles, there's photographic evidence. Whoops! And Pamela has even more. The sleazy lizard keeps digging his hole deeper.
I've come to despise Charles...more than anything else for his expulsion of any dissenters among those commenting at LGF. Moreover, I think this particular post by Robert - using Charles' guilt-by-association methodology to turn the tables - is entirely appropriate.
Still, I think Robert is wrong about Charles soon abandoning Israel due to the calling of his so-called "Leftist masters". He's never shown any sign of anti-Israel sentiment...and this link to Elizabeth May has nothing whatsoever to do with the Middle East.
Charles Johnson is many things...smear-merchant, petulant adolescent, dictatorial web-master, but no one can deny that he marches to the beat of his own drum.

I never knew him personally and didn't participate in the comments section too much because there were always SO MANY comments and it was impossible to keep up. But I read the site daily and cmmmented once in a while.
How can someone go from one side to the other like that? Something must have happened to change his thinking. Anyone have thoughts on this? Has he himself said anything about all of this?
I am sincerely curious. I guess there's the underlying fear that if that can happen to him, it can happen to anyone.
Maybe some wahabists have given him a big fat cheque. Maybe he is suffering some sort of depression. His wife didn't leave him or something, did she? For what it is worth I deeply respect Robert Spencer and just feel that this is a waste of his time, talents and energy. All this my opinion of course and Robert is free to tell me to go pound sand.
Reading how Charles has been sucked into this vortex of evil is in many ways educational and newsworthy, and not entirely a waste of time ...and he also serves as an example to others.

So in his quest to nail down the Center, Mr. Johnson uses guilt by association to discredit his critics? However, when the same canard is used to demonstrate his hypocrisy and the silliness of said tactic, he takes it seriously? It seems to me Mr. Johnson's reaction is more indicative of his morality than anything else. He clearly knows what he does is wrong.
Again, it's a shame he is so immoral in his quest to attain the moral high ground.
That being said, I would like to see a little more balance in his reporting. His observations, generally, about the Right are spot on as were his observations about the Left. If people are taking him seriously regarding Mr. Spencer then all you have to do is take a hard look at those who are now his allies, evaluate their positions, and then act accordingly.
I would recommend to Mr. Spencer to not sully himself with Mr. Johnson's aforementioned tactics and behavior. Those actions will slowly, but surely, marginalize LGF into irrelevance.

I think CJ has been scared silly by contracting readership and linkage, and therefore reacted in rage to anyone and anything staining his 'reputation'. Doesn't quite work in the long run, does it?
The largest Danish conservative blog Uriasposten just removed LGF from its blogroll, following a long trend of discarding LGF-linkage.
Reputation is overrated. After a firm rebuttal of any falsehoods, a sensible reaction is to act like the big dog. We have a saying in Danish:

I am among those who never heard of Charles Johnson or LGF until he began turning on Fjordman, Robert, etc. He seems to me like the typical narcissist who insists on being the center of attention. Now that he is abandoned by his original base, he is trying to establish a new one from those he would have once derided.
