Authorities say the 23-year-old suspect spent months in Yemen being trained for the Christmas Day suicide mission.

First, would a dog have detected this explosive? I know that dogs can detect many explosives, but I'm not sure about all. If they can, why aren't they being used? As far as the praying before takeoff I would recommend they encourage the Muslims to do their praying in private or before they enter the airport terminal and ban praying on airport property altogether. That includes all faiths.

This Christmas was very, very close to being a major tragedy. Things could easily have ended very differently.
With all the government knew about Maj. Hassan at Fort Hood...and now, to find out this guy was on a "watch list" but NOT on the "no-fly list", it's becoming painfully obvious that our law enforcement and intelligence capacity is entirely inadequate. c) The phenomenon of (b) above persists throughout the West because of two intertwined fears: a fear of Muslims, and a fear of ourselves succumbing to our evil white Western predilection to collectively mistreat a Brown People. The former fear is suppressed in terms of rational and logical consequences (i.e., in terms of our taking rational actions against Muslims to protect ourselves) and thus serves, perversely, to energize the latter fear, producing the paradoxical and all-too common phenomenon we see over and over, which can be put pithily: Every time a Muslim explodes, we must become more deferential, respectful and protective of Muslims, not less. All three must be incorporated and utilized, though not necessarily all three simultaneously or equally in degree at any given time or context. The methodology would not be robotic; it would include -- where appropriate -- the human element of common sense, creativity, flexibility.

Privacy is very important, and any other type of scanning device that would show the bare human body, is a violation to the human rights, and should be banned before its inception.
While we must have strict security measures, we need not to implement devices that promote voyeurism, and immorality against the bodies of individuals who travel. There are a lot of crazy psychotic people out there who have perverted minds who would not only invade the individual privacy but would transgress them with their ill, filthy and perverted animalistic instincts; and every person who travels should be protected against such evils.
There are other ways we have not thought of, and need as a country put our minds together, and seek most feasible solutions that will help ensure to preserve not only our privacy,but our decency and honor as individuals and citizens of this great country.

This is what I will do if I see someone lay out a prayer rug before boarding a flight.....I will get down right next them and recite the Pledge of Allegiance as loud as I can. If they want to pray in public they can do it like the rest of the civilized world....quietly and introspectively.

Seriously, it is time to take a more proactive role and stand up to the people who come into the US and demand we assimilate to there cultural mores instead of the other way around. The time has come to SPEAK YOUR MIND.
I know for sure that the people who died, and those who were injured on 911. And all the the loved ones they left behind would have been glad to give up as much privacy as would have been neccesary for that horrible day not to have happened.^j^
