Rifqa Bary's parents ask that she be held in contempt of court to force her to see Muslim counselor

What sweet, loving parents they obviously are. How wonderfully they will treat her if the dhimmi Ohio authorities order her to be returned home.

"Parents of Rifqa Bary ask court to hold her in contempt to force her to attend counseling sessions with Muslim counselor," from The Jawa Report, December 18 (thanks to Pamela, who has more here):

...and the counselor they demand she attend filed an affidavit in support of Rifqa being held in contempt!

The next episode in the legal battle between Muslim-turned-Christian convert Rifqa Bary and her allegedly abusive parents will occur next Tuesday in an Ohio courtroom. As I reported last Friday, one of the issues that will be heard by the court is a motion by the CAIR-appointed attorney to the Bary parents demanding that all Christmas cards sent to Rifqa be banned, and any cards she has already received be seized. On Monday, we provided clear evidence of CAIR's backstage handling of the media in this case.

Another issue next week will be another motion filed by the Bary parents asking the court to hold Rifqa in contempt for refusing to attend counseling sessions with a Muslim counselor. Amazingly, the counselor that the Bary parents are attempting to force her to see filed a affidavit supporting the parents' motion to hold Rifqa in contempt of court. How could this counselor be remotely neutral?

But wait a second - haven't all the media stooges in this case, from Meredith "Hijab" Heagney of the Columbus Dispatch to Michael Kruse of the St. Petersburg Times, insisted that the Bary family intends to respect Rifqa's Christian faith? Haven't these media stooges repeated assurances from the Bary parents that Rifqa has nothing to fear from returning home?...

Her parents have defamed Christians who have attempted to help their daughter flee their abuse; they have filed criminal charges against Rifqa accusing her of being a delinquent; and now they ask the Ohio courts to ban and seize Rifqa's Christmas cards and to force her to see a Muslim counselor that has demonstrated his own partiality. What this long sequence of events clearly shows is that Rifqa Bary has much to fear from being returned to her parents and that they have no intention to honor her personal religious choices....

Does anyone know when Rifqa turns 18?

I cannot believe this is happening here, but I can't say I'm surprised.

"Parents of Rifqa Bary ask court to hold her in contempt to force her to attend counseling sessions with Muslim counselor...

Contempt of what? Is there a court order , ordering her to go to 'therapy' conducted by a Mahoundian? Did the court order her into Islamic therapy?...If there is not a court order, she can't be in contempt...Not only that, but technically, it's the duty of the counselor to kill her...She should not be allowed to be in close proximity of any Mahoundian...

Cjhill: I have heard from someone else that it is in October, so 9 months to go...

This is despicable. Even if one denies the realities of the supremacy in islam, why is it a muslim counselor? Couldn't they find a secular one? Doesn't this indicate a desire to try to influence her to change her faith, despite their claims? This by itself should be HEAVILY questioned and raise red flags.

Now I expect mohammadeans are going to come on here and explain how it's not as it seems, we're biggots to see any bad intentions and that Christians are the bad guys in this story because they were trying to "brainwash" rifqa. Ha! (If if anyone doubts, all these claims have been made by mohammadan commenters here, namely AM and I beleive a few others.)

cj hill:

Rifqa's Birthday is August 10th. On that day she will automatically be emancipated and declared an adult.

Do parents in Ohio really have the right to force a child to attend religious counseling?
Or is that a special privilege reserved for muslims?

this deserves some study. it seems Sharia is being imposed in this case, again.

what qualifications does this counselor have?

is he/she licensed by the State to counsel?

what kind of report will this person present to the court? how will their facts be verified?

where will the counseling sessions be done? [will they be done in an orderly way with Rifqa getting enough sleep, proper nutrition and fluids, or will this be the typical sleepdeprivation/harassment techniques employed elsewhere in the world to grind the subject to pulp?]

with only 8 months left her parents must be getting desperate
if she can hold out until aug she can tell them and CPS to bug off and if she enlists in the armed forces i think she can get a green card

I think Rifqa's parents have really shot themselves in the foot with their Return-the-Christmas-cards motion. (Who files stupid motions like that anyway?)

I don;t think they, or Franklin County, can imagine the howling that will ensue if they try it.

Is this a Sharia court? Why would a court even consider a motion to force a 17 year old into religious counseling against her will? This is beginning to look like something out of the "Gulag Archipelago" Will there be "struggle meetings" and "self-criticism sessions" next? Is Rifqa a criminal? I see no parental love here, but simply a malice aided and abetted by CAIR.

Come on Robert, you're such a worry-wart!

What would ever lead you to think that anybody would be in danger from their own parents. It defies logic.

I'm sure that this girl must be mentally ill and needs the help of a good friend and it will all be better. Kindness, trust and love will solve this, for sure.

There, done.

i was just trying on delusion and fantasy; it felt like a stiff new shoe that's a size too small and we are being asked to believe the saleshuman 'it will be OK once you walk in them for a few days'.

Oh, OK then, fine, i'll take them. Are you sure I can return them if it doesn't work? Right?

Time to hit the 'Lan Atsalam' button...

Just what every parent wants for their child.

Perhaps it is time for the parents to get a little instruction in Christianity so they can become more sensitive to their daughters new religion.

Why does she have to see a Muslim therapist? Why can't she have a Christian one?

The court needs to declare her an emancipated minor and sever her ties with her parents completely.

Pious muslims can never hold their water. They see the legitimacy of legal actions through the prism of sharia regardless of the country they are inhabiting. These farcical actions (as we see them) are beneficial to Rifqa as they demonstrate, as pointed out, the disingenuous claims of the parents to "respect" Rifqa's freedom of choice. I would hope the strategy of her legal team is to draw this out until she is 18 and it all becomes, legally, moot.

Even given the best of circimstances poor Rifqa will probably have to look over her shoulder the rest of her life. My (poor and humble) prayers are with her.

Why does Rifqa need a counselor of any sort? Is she now to be considered mentally ill?

In Florida, Rifqa said she was assigned a counsellor who just happened to be a Muslim. The "counselling sessions" consisted of trying to persuade Rifqa to return to her previous faith. I'd imagine this was why she's not too keen on another counsellor from the Religion of Peace.

The court hearing on Tuesday is key. Rifqa needs our prayers. And it would be good to have as many people as possible in Columbus to support her. Especially-so in the absence of an official rally... (just this time, no "Islam is of the devil"-type shirts giving the liberal media an open goal).

It is time for Christians and Jews and whom ever else is concerned about this to start praying throughout this Christmas and Hannuka season that God (Not allah) will intervene.
I have asked friends and family to remember her. If you forward an article please accompany it with a personal request so it doesn't get deleted.

The rather stupid thing among many in this case is the assumption that Rifqa doesn't understand Islam. She was raised in it as I was raised in Catholicism. The people who don't understand are her family members (from the evidence available to me. They don't understand Christianity and should be given extensive lessons in it.

I am very concerned for her well being! You know about honor killings.

I think she should attend. Let the ACLU attorney act as her witness, or at least an armed Israeli who just happened to be available just as the counselor was who can interpret Islam for the counselor. No can tell when she as an underage minor will be assaulted, you know.

If you really want to pound them, they just love womens' rights people too. Contact NOW and have them send someone along. Can't think of anything these people hate more than womens rights. Can anyone contact her and provide her with this help?

http://www.now.org/chapters/index.html

BTW; it seems to me she is a battered child so the state will happily get involved and take the child. Check her for being beaten marks. They also check for sexual assault and genital mutilation. That works wonders. See how they like America then? Has she been mistreated? We really need to get the parents in for child abuse treatment too.

This should escalate nicely.

(If they are not rioting you are giving up ground)

If the official figures on honour killings are accepted in assessing the likely risk, then that may be a great error.
In the UK the real figures are far greater.
Chief police officers say:-
'official figures on forced marriages are the tip of the iceberg, says the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).'

See this website for evidence of a figure of 17000 victims a year:

Expect similar findings in the USA.
