However, the Taliban didn't invent it. Prominent elements of this "dress code" far predate their movement. "Somali militants enforce Taliban-style dress code," from the Associated Press, December 23:
MOGADISHU, Somalia -- Residents of a southern Somali town say Islamists are enforcing a Taliban-style dress code.
And the sign says, long-haired freaky people need not apply:
Kismayo resident Abdulahi Omar Dhere says members of the al-Shabab insurgent group are targeting young men who have long hair, no beards and wear Western-style trousers below the ankle.
The demands regarding pants are from Muhammad's own instructions and example -- the example in all things for all time per Qur'an 33:21. Muhammad did not care for trailing lower garments, saying "The part of an Izar which hangs below the ankles is in the Fire" (Sahih Bukhari 7.72.678).
As for beards, among other things, Muhammad said "Act against the polytheists, trim closely the moustache and grow [the] beard" (Sahih Muslim 2.500).
Dhere said Wednesday that Islamists are publicly cutting off parts of trousers that violate the order and giving haircuts to anyone with long hair. The group has ordered men to grow beards and shave mustaches.
Al-Shabab has already banned movie theaters, musical ringtones and dancing at weddings -- echoing rules ones imposed by the Taliban when they ruled most of Afghanistan in the late 1990s, though the group didn't oppose long hair.
To make yourself into a real clown, don't forget the orange BOZO beard.
But beards without mustaches look really weird.
Hmm. Didn't that Jesus fellow have really long hair, and a mustache with his beard (I'm assuming).
Anyway, as the musical reply goes "Leave this long-haired country boy (or girl) alone!"
So who's right about the long hair? are the Al-Shabbab misunderstanders of Islam?
What is most interesting, and depressing about these kinds of reports is this.
If those who are supposed to be protecting us, and learning and understanding the motives of enemies, were to ingest and learn the rule book these guys play out of, it would be trivial to not only identify the reason for these sorts of actions, but also to predict future actions they will take.
It would then be simple to develop a strategy that would hinder and aggravate what would be the known next steps.
For example, if we know they will dig deeper and deeper into the Islamic dress code, do whatever is possible to make that as difficult as possible. Start pushing the traditional dress in that area, globally, as a "cultural heritage" or some other PC compliant term. Petition the governing bodies to "protect indigenous cultural symbols" long before these guys show up on the scene at try to change things.
The bottom line however is that those that we have entrusted to protect us, haven't even taken the first step to do so in any meaningful way.
Islam...it's all about control of the people.....absolute control...mind, body , and soul....you will never be an individual capable of free thought or expression...
musical ringtones? I never understood that. Why it's OK to use all sorts of Infidel innovations: cars, planes, trains, computers, cameras, the internet, high explosives, just to scratch the surface, but others are haraam. Isn't using infidel inventions akin to befriending the unbeliever (a big no-no) and imitating the kuffar (ditto) -- ? How can they just pick and choose?
Funny how 'our freedom' resulted in a huge increase in the standard of living for them, but they still hate 'our freedom' anyway. They did not, could not, and would not have invented any of these things, but still use them and in some cases use them to plot mayhem against us.
But then they 'forbid' random and inconsequential aspects of them anyway. Are they attempting to prove how idiotic and useless they are? If so they're doing a great job of it.
Goob,
Are they attempting to prove how idiotic and useless they are? If so they're doing a great job of it.
The zombies get an A+ for proving to us how worthless they are. Everday. Since 620 AD.
Yes, I conform faithfully to Sharia myself - Excuse me, but I think I just heard Lady Gaga's ring tone...

Very true. Here are "Taliban-style" strictures—here for the ladies—dating from the middle of the 19th century:

The weird kinky fashionistas of the mohammedan zone.
I know some really weird people who probably would, if they could, pass fashion laws. But they are mostly coke snorting, drunk-to-the-gills, sexually depraved high fashion freaks.
You know, fines for pastel polyester, points off your drivers license for mullet haircuts or hot iron perms ... that sort of thing.
But they would NEVER get as funky as those talibans and Iranians.
At least the freaks I know have some taste!
And better morals.
We have nothing to fear from the introduction of Sharia’. Centuries will pass while they bicker over which version of Sharia’ they’re going to adopt, so let's just leave it to our grandchildren to take care of the problem.
