My Human Events column today chronicles an unmerry Christmas in Iraq and other Muslim countries:
Christians in the Iraqi city have opted not to celebrate Christmas this year, since Ashura, a major Shi'ite day of mourning, falls on the same day. So out of "respect" for the local Shi'ites, Chaldean Catholic Bishop Imad Al Banna asked all Christians in Basra not to engage in any public celebration of Christmas, and not even to entertain guests or show any joy in the day.Would Shi'ites curtail one of their celebrations to show similar "respect" to the Christians? Would they mute their joy on Eid al-Fitr if it began on Good Friday? And what would happen to these Christians if they failed to show this "respect"?
Meanwhile, Christians are still streaming out of Iraq in such large numbers that the ancient Christian community is on the verge of extinction. Islamic jihadists last week attacked churches and Christian schools in Mosul, with forty people killed in bomb attacks and random Christians targeted for violence on the streets. This is after jihadist violence late last year killed forty and drove 12,000 Christians from the area. "It is terrible," one Mosul Christian told the Times of London: : "Most of the Christians are staying at home, or when they go out they watch their backs." A member of another religious minority, the Yazidis, who lives in a Christian village remarked: "You cannot live in Mosul. Every day you find Christians being killed. Very few are still going to church. The women have to wear hijabs. They send someone first in a car to check if there is someone outside the church."
And in Egypt, Christian Solidarity International and the Coptic Foundation for Human Rights released a new report detailing rampant abuse of Christian women by Muslims: "Cases of abduction, forced conversion and marriage are usually accompanied by acts of violence which include rape, beatings, deprivation of food and other forms of physical and mental abuse." John Eibner of Christian Solidarity International wrote a letter to Barack Obama about the treatment of Christian women, asking him to speak out and noting: "Trafficking of Christian women in Egypt is not a new phenomenon....But this problem has now reached boiling point within Egypt's Coptic community, which views it as symptomatic of a much broader pattern of religious persecution." But Obama, busy courting the good will of the Islamic world, is unlikely to say anything. And meanwhile, the State Department's 2009 report on international religious freedom noted that the Egyptian government often turns a blind eye to crimes committed against Copts -- and government officials have on occasion even participated in those crimes.
The Christians in Turkey are facing a similarly somber Christmas. "We are treated," said the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, "as citizens of second class. We don't feel that we enjoy our full rights as Turkish citizens." Yet "we prefer to stay here, even crucified sometimes."...
Muhammad and Sharia can neither bring joy nor peace with God to any individual. the mosque will always be filled with disquiet and bloodlust
someone once said: there is no joy in Islam
may there never be earthly peace among the mosque. each needs to keep thinking about what's missing.

He should also write "Rev" Wright, BHO's old "mentor". Maybe he would exert some influence on the Pres. Or maybe not.
Also he should write the National Conference of Bishops, and the presiding officials of all the major Christian churches. These crimes should be the stuff of frequent sermons from pulpits everywhere in the country.

We Must Secure Human Liberty Free from Islamic Intimidation and Sharia Influence.
Bless you, Robert.
And we all know how "bloody" the Islamic Ashura holiday can be. If not, here's a link.

Good lord, is that what that is? I'd seen a couple of those pics around, but didn't really understand what was going on in them.
How could any mother CUT her own child?!
The more I learn, the sicker I get.
If someone said I needed to cut my _cats_ so they could be "blessed", well, I can't describe here what my reaction would be. First, I'd tell them where they can shove their "blessing", though. Then they'd better start running, very fast.
And yeah, I noticed the juxtaposition of those pics with the one of the giraffe. Even predators are better than these barbarian savages.
Reciprocity.
I remember when I learned about Ashura. Nothing brought home to me the disgusting bloodlust of this "religion" like seeing photos of these savages cutting themselves and their own children. It made me sick. It will never cease to make me sick. And that's the reaction any civilized human being should have when they see such things.
Instead, the world continues to defend this ideology. I will never understand why.
As to the story itself, it made me angry. How dare Christians give in and bow to these people and their bloody ritual?! STAND UP for life and freedom, people! If you do not, it will continue being taken from you!
To my Coptic, Assyrian and Chaldean friends I can offer nothing except my sympathy. I know for a fact that the United States and European governments could care less about their blight and that they only open their arms to the Islamic hordes invading their lands. I no longer believe in the superstations that I was born and raised into. Therefore, I do not see any possible good outcome for these poor souls. Tragically still, their hellish existence at the hands of their Mohamedan oppressors has not served as a warning for Westerners to save themselves and their children from such a fate as being a flock of sheep amidst ravenous wolves who are tearing them apart and driving them to extinction. I have gradually lost sympathy for Westerners in generals and western Europeans in particular for their determined blindness (with the exception of a very minuscule minority that somewhat get it) toward Islam and their violent hatred of Europe’s religious and culture heritage while refusing to accept any criticism of Islam or any mention of the certain implications of Islamic encroachment. More Europeans rejoiced that the Pope and Berlusconi were attacked than cared that their own countries which are being gradually Islamized without so much as a whimper.
