Mahdi Bray makes known his support for Hamas and Hizballah
But this comes from Islam Online, and they're serious. CAIR is going to start a website, says Nihad Awad, to fight against the jihadist interpretation of the Qur'an. Mahdi Bray is going to organize a youth summit.
It all sounds great, and it is just what is needed. If Islam really were a Religion of Peaceā¢, Islamic refutations of the jihadist explanations of the Qur'an and Sunnah would be readily available, and we would be seeing Islamic groups fight against jihadists in various ways all the time. Instead, when CAIR says it's going to do this, people who want to resist the jihad should be skeptical. CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case -- so named by the Justice Department. CAIR operatives have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror. CAIR's cofounder and longtime Board chairman (Omar Ahmad), as well as its chief spokesman (Honest Ibe Hooper), have made Islamic supremacist statements.
And as for Mahdi Bray, see here.
"US Muslims Fight Domestic Extremism," by Aisha Qidwae for IslamOnline, December 10 (thanks to James):
WASHINGTON - Leading American Muslim organizations and community leaders are planning to launch a website and organize a summit where young Muslims can ask mainstream scholars questions as part of renewed efforts to combat extremism."The idea is really to refute and counter the misuse of certain ayahs [verse of the Qur'an] and hadiths [sayings of Prophet Muhammad] that are commonly misused by recruiters or young people who do not understand the depths and circumstances of revelations and just juxtapose superficial and disconnected meaning to justify their actions," Nihad Awad, National Executive Director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), told IslamOnline.net.
He described the website as an online resource center for Muslims who are vulnerable to extremist ideologies....
In addition to putting together theological rebuttals to misused verses and hadiths, CAIR, along with Muslim organizations, is organizing a summit where young Muslims can ask mainstream scholars questions at this year's conference of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) and the Muslim American Society.
The annual conference will be held in Chicago from December 24 - 26.
Imam Mahdi Bray, the Executive Director of MAS Freedom, said the summit will also reach out to young Muslims to do peer mentoring.
"That will focus on positive solutions involving issues of hate, violence and intolerance," he told IOL.
"One has to recognize that there are real issues here and abroad. We need their [youth] voices to see how constructively they want us to address these issues in a nonviolent way."
Bray personally knows Zamzam, a dental student at Howard University.
"If you said to me, that person would have gone to Pakistan to allegedly do what they're dong [sic], that person would have been the last person in my mind to think like that." [...]
He is shocked! Shocked!
Prominent Muslim scholar Dr. Jamal Badawi had refuted Awlaki's claim that the shooting tragedy was an act of Jihad against the enemies of Islam."The Qur'an and Sunna allow the use of force only as a last resort and only in two cases; to resist oppression or in defense against aggression," he explains.
"You don't just sneak and attack without declaration. This is not in accordance with Islamic ethics," Dr Badawi told IOL after the attack....
Indeed. First you invite the victims to accept Islam, as Muhammad directs.
Badawi, by the way, is another unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas jihad terror funding case.
I guess even CAIR realizes that many Americans are becoming alarmed at the number of their "fellow Americans" shooting up military bases and going off to Pakistan and Somalia to wage Jihad.
Time to make some weak statements about "fighting extremism", and maybe the stupid Kufr will go back to sleep.
Its just amazing that CAIR's agenda is totally overlooked by the media. They don't even try to hide it.
If you want to have fun, do an interview with CAIR on (for example) they plan to combat Islamic extremism. Would love to see a Robert Spencer vs CAIR debate.
Ooooh - that would be fun.
I know I do this too much, but...

TAQQIYA!!!
(sung to the tune of Tequila by the Champs)
I promise I won't post this anymore, maybe.
Interesting. Robert should have some fun with this new site's content. However, a more exciting prospect would be if they allowed open forum posting. How be entertaining would it be to see the "misunderstanders" duke it out with the "moderates" (have your popcorn ready)? Although, sadly, I suspect they won't and the message will be tightly controlled. Sigh.
From the article:
"The Qur'an and Sunna allow the use of force only as a last resort and only in two cases; to resist oppression or in defense against aggression," he explains."
Suure.
But some of us happen to know that the Islamspeak definitions of 'oppression' and 'aggression' are not the same as the usual Infidel definitions.
'Oppression' = Muslims anywhere not able to totally dominate the Infidels around them. Or, non-Muslims living like non-Muslims.
'Aggression' is pretty much the same, though it also covers obstinate Infidel refusal to comply with Muslim demands.
From my handy file, 'Religion of Perpetual Outrage', Abul Kasem the apostate's hilarious article on the subject of "When Is Islam Oppressed?"
http://www.islam-watch.org/AbulKasem/IslamOppressed.htm
See also this useful article from the jihadwatch archives:
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2006/07/islamic-dictionary-for-infidels.html
The final paragraph in that article supplies a useful definition of the Islamspeak meaning of 'aggression':
"Aggression: When non-Muslims do anything to preserve their culture and resist the Islamization of their country. Even when this "aggression" is non-violent, such as publishing a cartoon critical of Islam, this intolerable insult to Islamic supremacy on earth can be answered with violence by Muslims. Since a refusal to submit to sharia is a rebellion against Allah, the very existence of non-Muslim communities can be viewed as an act of aggression."
Muslims told us they will lie to advance the Ummah. We should believe that and nothing else. We must stop playing this game with them.
Re: Today's chuckle: CAIR, Mahdi Bray to "fight domestic extremism"
One would never have seen this farce only a few years ago. CAIR etc would have been pushing Taqiyya. They know Taqiyya is not working anymore.
This new-track of CAIR etc. represents a terrible realization on their part that too many Dhimmis, too many non-Muslims (who are never innocent as per Islam), are turning cold-bagels as they a watch and listen when a Muslim says "Islam forbids killing the innocent" etc.
Too many non-Muslims now know that in Islam non-Muslims are not innocent because they are not Muslims. The non-Muslims politely listen, but are not fooled anymore when they hear such phrases.
It is amazing how many ordinary non-Muslim people now know a lot about Islam. I think many Muslims now have the uncomfortable realization that non-Muslims know too much about the real teachings of Islam, and they feel the quiet gaze of skepticism looking at their words, greeting their Taqiyya .
Their Taqiyya is sometimes being laughed at by non-Muslims. They feel it.
As someone once said a few years ago re Taqiyya, Dhimmis, and all that: "The cat's out of the bag." Now a whole lot of cats are out of the Taqiyya-crap-rap bags.

..of course any non-violent directives could and will be abrogated by other "more redeemed and revered" imams/scholars to taste, so what's the point. A for effort but too little too late. Are they going to suggest that Israel and Jews have a right to exist too? Can't wait..
Funny how things change dramatically when the FBI starts swarming around their hooch. Hooper blooper out-takes at eleven.
Haven't we been through all this crap before?
In the mohammedan view, everybody is inherently mohammedan by nature, because mohammedanism is The One True Way, and consequently, anything that stands in the way of everybody practicing mohammedanism is a form of oppression or aggression! And therefore a legitimate object of attack.
What crap.
Can we get the Taliban to attack them? Just askin'.
