Two "Middle Eastern" men detained after acting suspiciously on flight to Phoenix, CAIR leaps into action

Since apparently nothing was found on these guys, this one has already become a pretext for CAIR cries of "Islamophobia." In CAIR's "American Muslim News Briefs" was an item entitled "AIR: Plane Incidents in Ariz., Mich. Raise Profiling Concerns." It noted that "in Arizona, two 'Middle Eastern' men were removed from a US Airways flight in Phoenix and questioned by the FBI after another passenger overheard the men speaking in a foreign language. The men were questioned and released." CAIR spokesman Ibrahim "Honest Ibe" Hooper says: "While everyone supports robust airline security measures [yeah, surrre -- ed.], racial and religious profiling are in fact counterproductive and can lead to a climate of insecurity and fear."

Here is what Honest Ibe could have and should have said: "Since everyone supports robust airline security measures, we call upon American Muslims to cooperate fully with airline security procedures and to accept being inconvenienced in the effort to prevent another Islamic jihad terror attack."

Feel free to crib from my work, Ibe.

"TSA: 2 passengers detained after flight to Phoenix," from AP, December 27 (thanks to all who sent this in):

PHOENIX - Two men thought to have been acting suspicious aboard a flight bound for Phoenix were detained and questioned by federal anti-terrorism authorities before they were released, the FBI said Sunday.

Transportation Security Administration officials said passengers aboard U.S. Airways Flight 192 from Orlando, Fla., on Saturday night reported that two men, described as Middle Eastern, were acting strangely and talking loudly to each other in a foreign language.

A nearby passenger also observed one of men watching what appeared to be footage of a suicide bombing, but was actually a scene from the 2007 movie "The Kingdom." The man also got up from his seat while the seat belt warning sign was still lit, FBI spokesman Manuel Johnson said.

"The totality of those three occurrences led this passenger to believe this was suspicious," he said....

The best security measure would be 'personal profiling'...That's where individual people refuse to board a plane with any suspicious looking, or acting people...It's up to the individual to determine who is suspicious and who is not...It should not be left to the airline or the government to decide...People power will work, but first people need to know that they have this power and don't have to be herded around like sheep...

Here is a video report on this incident. At the end of the report you will see CAIR spokesman Ibrahim "Honest Ibe" Hooper setting up his victim of profiling scenario in attempt to once again go after US Airways, the airline that was sued in the "Flying Imans case out of Minneapolis.

"Racial" versus "religious" profiling? Sorry, didn't realize that "muslim" was now a new "race" of people. However, insofar as profiling is concerned, it is not a "fact" that it is counterproductive (unless you're muslim) or leads to a "climate of insecurity and fear". On the contrary, attempting to blow up airplanes, shooting unsuspecting people, calling for the eradication of an entire nation, beheading, raping innocent women, denying basic human rights to others who disagree with you and generally following an ideology that simply states "Agree with me or die" - now THOSE are things that are counterproductive and lead to a climate of insecurity and fear. Again, why do we allow these people into our country?

A Long-Winded Errata Sheet:

For Ibrahim (Douglas) Hooper's "racial and religious profiling are in fact counterproductive and can lead to a climate of insecurity and fear."

Read "racial and religious profiling are well-founded in the case of Muslim terroriswm, and given the enormous burden such terrorism puts on both the security services and on the general public all over the Western world, should be used to intelligently focus attention on the very group (Muslims, with "racial profiling" simply being an at-times useful marker for Islam) whose members are the ones responsible for such terrorism. This will reassure the general public that resources are not being foolishly misdirected in order not to offend Muslims, and the level of insecurity and fear among that general popoulation, including the truly "moderate" Muslims (who should not be offended in the least, and if they are, then it is they who should be looked at askance) will not increase but go down."

Yes, it is all about Muslim feelings, isn't it. Let the dead bodies fly, but never let Khalid shed a tear.

Another point - not all muslims are terrorists, but have you ever noticed that all terrorists are muslims? And have you ever noticed that they don't kill people who don't walk down the aisle at a Billy Graham crusade? If CAIR is SOOOOO concerned about racial and religious profiling, then why not condemn the killing of so-called infidels? Moreover, inasmuch as God created the universe with a "word", doesn't it make sense that He really doesn't need help from the Islamic nation if we were the infidels? Personally, I am tired of dealing with these people and their idiotic beliefs. Islam is a "gutter religion" that took everything it is from Judaism, Christianity, Gnosticism, Zoroastrianism, paganism and last, but not least, pure old GREED. Enough is enough. We don't allow rabid dogs to roam the streets for a reason.

It really is time for CAIR to be shut down.

Swami's right. Again.

The best profiling is personal profiling. Law enforcement agencies are bound by law or policy and cannot or won't "profile".

But we civilians can profile all we want. And we should.

I think this is good. I really think this will backfire on them. I haven't noticed, and maybe I have missed some, many talking heads out there trying to pretend that Islam wasn't the motivating factor for our flight 253 friend. People are slowly waking up to reality.
For Hooper to start shouting Islamophobia, this close to the incident in Detroit, is going rub a lot of people the wrong way, and will force a lot of people to connect the all so obvious dots.

Ham Sandwhich in pocket. No infidel should fly without it.

I agree with you (and with Duh Swami). Remember, though, the whole purpose of the "Flying Imams" case was to stymie just that—to make even individual civilians leery of "profiling", no matter how clear the threat, lest they be labeled "racists" or "Islamophobes", or even subject to prosecution.

Luckily, that case failed. But there will be more.

Of course, any individual can (and should) refuse to board a plane with a likely Jihad terrorist on it—our only hope here is that enough passengers will make this stand that security and the airlines will have to respond.

Otherwise, the onus—in terms of untranferable tickets, disrupted travel time, and the hassle of lining up an alternative flight, will be entirely on the individual.

You may want to clarify which "solution" you're referring to...

I have to say law enforcement or no law enforcement it is human nature to profile someone.

Profiling a potential suspect is an absolutely necessary tool for law enforcement even though they will say there was different evidence that lead to a possible suspect in an effort to be politically correct. They would be crazy to ignore it.

Want an end to this nonsense? Want to see all flights on this planet be 100%-mahoundian-terrorism free? Here's my idea for a 100% accurate and efficient way of making sure they won't board a plane... A copy of Mein Qurampf, placed half a foot above the ground and open to whatever page Sura 9 starts. If a would-be passenger can step onto that page, they'll be allowed on board. If not, they can be given directions on how to find the nearest rent-a-camel location, where they'll be able to experience mahound-style travel...

We have to take our shoes off. Muslims who act suspiciously get yanked off of planes and interrogated. Fair is fair. Get over it, Hooper.

I don't see what the big deal is about profiling.
Just do it. Advertise it. Make it mandatory. If muslims are offended, then they don't fly. Simple.

Personally, I profile all the time :)

CAIR has become not only a nuisance, but a threat to passenger safety with its antics.

Law enforcement has been profiling for decades. It's part of the normal process of whittling the suspect pool from Everyone, down to those who fit some type of profile relevant to the criminal problem in question.

All that's needed for the West, once it regains its sanity, is to develop a profiling template and methodology appropriate for this particular problem of an indeterminate number of Muslim terrorists pullulating -- at an escalating rate, it seems -- out of the larger population of the totality of Muslims around the world.

I maintain that such a profile will (to the degree that it is rational) unavoidably integrate into its methodology racial profiling, because 98% of Muslims are non-whites of various flavors, and probably the majority of Muslim terrorists continue to be Arabs.

i woumder if drug/bomb sniffing pigs would stop the terrorist attacks?? after all withthe muslim fear of pigs maybe that would make them think twice about flying on a usa airline
if they knew a pig was going to snif them and it just might put the leaders of cair into a fit in out rage

Hesperado you just proved you are than raceist. Islam is not 98% nonwhite,I my mosque at least 50% are white convert who convert than long time ago to Islam,25% are from asia and 25% are Neogre. That one of the reason that Fox New gave up on saying all muslim are non-white as it isnot true.

Not racial profiling, but ideological profiling. The U.S. is insane if it doesn't consider all Muslims as potential terrorists and screen them for signs of radicalization, like they do in Israel.

I like the ham sandwich in pocket idea and bomb sniffing pigs. Better still, how about a pigs ear, the ones sold at pet stores, carried on a lanyard around your neck. What would TSA security do or say about that? When asked why you have it, just say its a snack for later in the flight. Hopefully your seat will be near Abdullah.

What a brilliant ideaLOL! Just employ people to go on flights with a pig, maybe this would stop muslims flying!
I suppose they`d find another form of transport! There`s going to be a lot of pigs going on long journeys HAHA!!

Actually, pigs on planes, nice and clean and suitably quarantine-certified and accompanied by a handler, would be a perfectly reasonable idea.

1. They can be trained to sniff for stuff - there is an Israeli guy who (having gotten the idea from French farmers who use pigs to look for truffles) has been training pigs to look for land-mines. {The rabbis gave him their blessing because the principle of 'preservation of human life' trumps everything else}. He says the pigs show huge potential: they are smarter than dogs, have a longer concentration span, and their noses are more sensitive.

2. There *are* non-Muslims who are allergic to dogs. I suspect that asthmatics and such, in the confined space of an aircraft, might be less likely to have a reaction to the presence of a pig.

3. Pigs can be trained to use a sandbox, so there is no hygiene problem.

4. I suspect that a pig could be trained to 'sic 'im!' just like a dog can...and I know *I* wouldn't want to tangle with an angry pig, their teeth can crunch like garbage compactors.

One wonders how many Mohammedans would be willing to get onto a plane if they knew they were 1. going to be sniffed all over, very closely, by a big friendly snuffly pig, before boarding and 2. that there was going to be a pig trotting cheerfully up and down the aisle or snoozing in a big basket next to the door to the pilots' cabin.

Of course no one should be surprised that *I* should be making this suggestion - after all the entrance to Hogwarts castle (*Hogwarts*!) is guarded by statues of winged boars [and it has been noted by some readers that there seems to be a distinct scarcity of Mohammedan pupils in Rowlings' wizard school...funny, that].

Time for pigs to fly. Nice pink piggly guardian angels for Infidels, teaming up with the hounds of heaven.
