It is a common but fatal mistake to assume that economics plays any role in this. Religions in general and Islam in particular (not that I am allowing that Islam is a religion - it only asserts that it is one) are non- or anti-economic. Economics deals with humanity's well-being and needs in the here-and-now of life on Earth. Islam makes no secret of showing complete contempt for that view and giving all emphasis to the hereafter. Religions that emphasize doing good on Earth to achieve Heaven can, indirectly by that imperative, lead into a worldview that has people doing good, economic and otherwise, here on Earth. But Islam does not promise heaven for doing and manner of general or humanistic good on Earth, rather, "good" is narrowly defined as "promoting submission" by any means available. To borrow an old expression, Islamists need economic opportunities like a fish needs a bicycle.

Our post modern ideologues who are running things these days seem to be completely under the sway of socialist ideology that posits that human affairs are regulated completely by materialistic and economic forces, the communists taking it further by injecting class consciousness into the mix. Nowhere is there a recognition that it is even possible, despite several thousand years of history showing otherwise, that religious forces can play a role, as well. By ignoring, or willfully refusing to accept, this fact, they are using the wrong tools and concepts to battle the Islamists.

If there's one thing that can be grudgingly admired about Muslims, it is that they have a clear vision of what they want, ugly and twisted and narrow minded as that is and what its adoption would portend for the rest of us and for the future of mankind. Our folks willfully place religion outside their cone of consciousness, instead blathering on about ordinary moms and dads and jobs and bribes and other trivialities that, frankly, if I were a Muslim I would be insulted about. They therefore miss the obvious fact that religious forces may be the only effective means to battle Islam.

If it is not Islam, but merely lack of employment, and lack of money, that makes the world's Muslims think, and act, as they do, if they are merely anti-Infidel because, you see, their own societies don't provide jobs (might it be because economic stasis is owed to inshallah-fatalism and hatred of bid'a, or innovation?), then the answer of course is simple: we Infidels, and especialy we endlessly-rich Americans, with our brand-new roads and bridges, our schools second to none, our affordable health care, our splendid water systems, our middle class growing larger, and more economically secure, every day in every way, surely can afford to provide jobs, or simply cash grants, to all of the world's Muslims -- outside of those who are sitting on trillions of dollars in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the U.A.E., Qatar, and -- not for all but for some -- Iran, Iraq, Libya, Algeria. Yes, we can pay for everyone in what are among the poorest countries in the world, Afghanistan, and iYemen, and Somalia, and Pakistan, and Egypt, and in the "Palestinian" terrotitories, so that Muslims, especially male Muslims, can sit and chew qat (in Yemen), or smoke hashish (in Afghanistan and Pakistan), or smoke hubble-bubble pipes in Egypt, or watch television all day in cafes and mud-huts, and of course do what they like to do most, which is to whip themselves up into a frenzy, some by reading the Qur'an and Hadith, some by listening to others read the Qur'an and Hadith, or by watching the videocassettes spread around of the attacks on American Infidels in Iraq and Afghanistan, or on Israeli Infidels in Gaza, or on European Infidels, of all kinds, who have managed to travel to Muslim lands, been kidnapped and, on-camera, been videotaped pleading for their lives and then being ghoulishly and slowly beheaded, while the assembled Muslim murderers chant like zombies from one of their Islamic texts.

Yes, that's all we need to. The more than twelve trillion dollars smoothly pocketed by the Muslim members of OPEC since 1973 alone was a result not of hard work, nor of entrepreneurial flair, but merely a sign of Allah's favoring of the "best of peoples," the Muslims. But those particular Muslims who have that wealth from oil and natural gas do not intend, never intended, to share it with fellow memmbers of the Umma. No, their solidarity consists only in joining fellow members of the Umma in making war, through many different means, against any and all Infidels. For propaganda, for the employment of Western hirelings, for mosques and madrasas and campaigns of Da'wa in the Western world, for trillions in armaments bought from heedless Western countries, for the many tens of billions put into the deveopment of nuclear weapons in Pakistan (successful) and Iran (about-to-be successful if the American government does not come to its senses in time), that they have money. But for giving cash or offering employment to many of their poor fellow Muslims -- well, that's a job for Infidels.

And we Infidels, especially we Americans, are delighted to shoulder that responsibility, to pay out the two trillion dollars, for example, that we have spent on Iraq to give it a less murderous regime, and to keep various Iraqi factions together, and to make that country prosperous, a strategy that we also think has worked so well for our own interests (we do have "our own interests" -- don't we?), that it's going to be tried in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and who knows? -- perhaps tomorrow in Yemen and, one more time as dimwitted would-be samaritans, in hopeless Somalia.

Bravo. Keep it up. We have too much money anyway. We need to share it with Muslims all over the world -- the ones who, as yet, have been unable to be admitted, or enter illegally, into Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and of course, the prize goal for so many, the fabulously-rich -- for what else would a person naturally conclude about a country that just dropped two trillion dollars on a war in Iraq, and is now prepared to spend another few hundred billion on the venture (nothing ventured, nothing gained) in Afpakistan.

Instead of paying the Taliban to lay down their arms, the U.S. should be paying them to hand over al-Qaida, say, $1 billion for each leader and $1 million for each grunt, in return for an immediate pullout of Afghanistan of its 100K troops costing $1 million a year each. Ever since al-Qaida desecrated Pakistan's Red Mosque in 2007, they have been splitting, and yes, Muslims can be bought off, given that we don't keep handing them money for nothing and make ourselves too attractive as marks but show we're hard bargainers.
