A Pakistani scientist who is the only woman accused of working with the al-Qaeda leadership has demanded that Jews should be excluded from the jury at her trial in New York.Aafia Siddiqui called for jurors to undergo genetic testing in an outburst in federal court in Manhattan yesterday.
"If they have a Zionist or Israeli background . . . they are all mad at me," Ms Siddiqui, an American-educated neuroscientist, said. "I have a feeling everyone here is them [sic] -- subject to genetic testing. They should be excluded if you want to be fair," she told the judge.
Prosecutors say that Ms Siddiqui, 37, who has a biology degree from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a PhD from Brandeis University, fled the US in 2003 after marrying an al-Qaeda operative....
If it's not the Jews, she could go for poverty, discrimination, lack of opportunity, or American foreign policy. Whatever works.
What did she learn at those Universities anyway?

Presumably her lawyers will demand a jury of her peers. Her peers would be, in her view, fellow Muslims, and could not possibly consist of non-Muslims who are, in her view, locked in permanent war with Muslims so long as they continue to throw up any obstacles to the spread, and then the dominance, of Islam. The mere fact that she, Ms. Siddiqui, is being put on trial by the government of those non-Muslims show that they are not willing to yield to Islam and remain the enemy that opposes Islam. Therefore, they most certainly cannot constitute a jury of her peers.
And this goes the other way, too.
Any non-Muslim should be able to object to a Muslim as either trial court judge or member of a jury, for such people can be held to know, and to approve -- by identifying themselves as Muslims -- of the view of non-Muslims inculcated by the texts, Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira, of Islam. It would not be hard for an experienced lawyer to show how unfair it would be to have a Muslim sit in judgment on a non-Muslim, particularly in cases where that non-Muslim may be in an adversarial position with a Muslim.
All hell now breaks loose, or can, in the American judicial system.
Does anyone care? Will anyone, writing in the law reviews, dare to take up this subject? Will anyone, writing about the application of the First Amendment, dare to discuss the question "what is the correct definition of a religion" and "if Islam contains intertwined elements of a religion (i.e., elements of personal worship and a cosmogony)and of politics, and geopolitics, that cannot possibly be disentangled, if, that is, Islam rightly understood is all about the State, and its right workings, and who should control it and for what purposes, then can Islam really be regarded just as a "religion" entitled to the protections afforded by the First Amendment, or is it something much larger, a Total Belief-System, that requires the sole loyalty of its adherents, so that one cannot both support the legal and political institutions of this country (which flatly contradict, in spirit and letter, the Sharia), and support, as Muslims may be held to do, Islam.

In my state of Minnesota, the children of all these Somali political refugees are growing up. They are daughters and sons of mothers who are sister wives in same or different households, with dads who visit conjugally and moms who claim not to be married so they can live on the dole.
