That is the most important sentence in the story above. In most Muslim-majority countries, it is illegal to proselytize for any other religion except for Islam. The practical effect of this, of course, is that there are very few conversions to other faiths in those countries. This makes it very easy for Muslims to say that Islam is so great that hardly anyone ever converts to other religions, and happily they trumpet their perceived superiority by pointing out that Islam is the "fastest growing religion in the world." Naturally this is true in these countries where the penalty for leaving Islam is death, by the word of Allâh in the Qur’ân, and the oft-quoted words of Muhammed himself in the Ahadeeth.
This is substantial encouragement for all Muslims not to convert, not even to investigate alternatives to Islam. Thus Islam remains the #1 choice of Muslims.
The reluctance of Algerian police authorities to defend the rights of Christians and others from ravaging Muslim mobs for the reason of no official recognition (A senior police officer said authorities couldn't intervene because the church hadn't been authorized as a place of worship.) is simply an extension of doctrine according to the Qur’ân and the Sunnah of Muhammed, holding Islam to be supreme to all other religions and the Muslims to be the "best people" over all others.

That is just great, here we are installing footbaths at Universities, giving extra time off in staffing issues to allow for frequent prayer times, and making big court payouts to flying Imams, and there they arrest you for carrying a Bible and loot your house.
This is not that uncommon, I had a friend that lived in Afghanistan under the Taliban, she said that the Taliban would frequently roll up to houses that they suspected were Christian and under gun point would tear up the place looking for Bibles. During the err "searches" stuff would disappear and get broken. Eventually, after a couple of searches they would get the idea and move to Pakistan.
After the US invasion, many came back to reclaim their property.

I believe we are in for some serious clashing of cultures/religions in the near future. However, is anyone else getting tired of posts that warn us of this impending doom. Yes it is important to know the evils that are being perpetrated against Christians and/or western society, but when are we going to stop all this talk and become proactive in our approach to this insanity? How many church's must be firebombed? How many airplanes have to fall from the sky? How many people have to be intimidated before we do something to stop these terror acts BEFORE they happen? If I get cancer I do something to stop it from spreading. I don't wait around for it to kill me.
Al-Qaida, and their ilk, are nothing but bullies! Bullies use indoctrination, intimidation, and violence to recruit other bullies and terrorize non-bullies. Instead of debate they yell louder then others. When that doesn't work they resort to violence. In elementary school bullies ruled UNTIL someone stood up against them.
Remember bullies are cowards, their strength lies in numbers. Don't try and reason with a bully, all they understand is intimidation and violence. Churches are ALREADY being burned down in the West. One church not far from me, owned by Middke Eastern Christians, was burned out and the Bibles and other items piled up together and made into a bonfire. Apart from a local newspaper report, nothing happened. The church was close to a Muslim area. I have heard of other churches being burnt down "mysteriously", no-one knows by whom.
Hardcore atheism, taught in our schools and an attitude that is virtually de rigeur socially, means that most people either do not care or are even quite pleased about these burnings. But whatever it is that atheists hold sacred will go, too, in the end, because they are so wrong if they think the Muslims will leave them alone.
As for Yom: despicable, a frightening reminder that Muslims will find excuses ("no internet"...) for Islamic violence, even as they pompously say they "oppose" it.

He also never left open any possibility that he was a mere profit. His claims are far larger than that.
Oh, and for the inevitable "the bible is corrupted" arguments, I have the following preemptive rhetorical question.
Who would you trust to write your biography? Your closest friends and confidants that many eventually died a martyr death for upholding your teachings with unwavering belief that they recorded in your biography. Or someone you never met, who heard nothing you said directly.
If you don't trust those friends and confidants, then you must believe that the all mighty God of the universe, had his prophet pick the most incompetent pile of losers, lairs and degenerates for best friends, who were certain to screw up the entire message, for hundreds of years to come, and deceive the entire world.
The bottom line is, either Muhammad and Islam are the work of the Devil, or Jesus of Nazareth was. The very fact that Islam tries to co-opt Jesus, proves it is Islam that is evil, as God would never incorporate the words and teachings of the Devil into his true Church.
But Allah did just that by trying to make Jesus something he never was.

It reminds one of the mindset of the antebellum plantation owners proclaiming that if only the slaves would accept their slavery, all would be well.
