However, he said that President Barack Obama's decision to increase troop numbers in Afghanistan was a big mistake that would damage the US economy. [...]
"People were always asking my father to attack more," he said of the militants with whom he saw his father in Afghanistan. "They would say, 'Sheik, we must do more'. Crazy things. My father has a religious goal. He is controlled by the rules of jihad. He only kills if he thinks there is a need."
He said that he doubted bin Laden would order any more mass attacks.
"He doesn't need to. As soon as America went to Afghanistan, his plan worked. He has already won."
Omar Osama bin Laden is right, his father has achieved all the goals in his Jihad that are possible without looking like a has-been. It is difficult to imagine any attack bin Laden Sr. could make that would have the impact of the World Trade Center disaster. Anything less would probably be seen as ineffectual, maybe even as un-Islamic.
The US should make every possible effort to capture Osama bin Laden alive, incarcerate him for the rest of his life, give him the best possible medical care to keep him alive and suffering. If he lives in custody long enough, Allâh might lose interest in him, even forget about lifting him to Jannat.
On the other hand, if it is decided that Osama bin Laden must be executed, he should find his final resting place at the World Trade Center Plaza, after being dropped from a helicopter at 5000 feet without a parachute. The resultant blood-spot should remain untouched and admission charged to see it, as a reminder to all of Justice served.

I brevet, av vilket en kopia offentliggörs för första gången i dag, varnade statsministern att målet för ett militärt ingripande i Irak var av tvivelaktig legalitet och skulle finnas någon garanti för en bättre framtid för Irak, även om Saddam Hussein togs bort.
Den sändes 10 dagar innan Blair mötte George Bush, då den amerikanske presidenten, i Crawford, Texas, i april 2002. Dokumentet innebär klart att Blair redan planerar för ett militärt ingripande trots att han fortsatte att hävda att den brittiska allmänheten för nästan ett år att inga beslut hade fattats.
Skrivelsen kommer att vara en central del av den bevisning som Chilcot utredning om Irakkriget när det frågor Straw denna vecka.

Omar bin Laden has at least one other thing in common with his father, and that is that both of them crave media attention. Another: They both have multiple wives.

His father's plan worked in that the U.S. and others invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. I question that this should be referred to as winning. If Osama bin Laden's goal is to spread Islam and extend the rule of Islamic law, it is questionable that his terrorist attacks, including 9/11, have helped this project overall.
I also question whether hundreds of thousands of dead Muslims can be regarded as a victory by most Islam supremacists, though bin Laden seems to view this as a propaganda victory. It should be noted, though, that bin Laden and Zawahiri subscribe to a doctrinal view that allows them to kill fellow Muslims, whether the victims are pious or not, because they think they are fighting in Allah's Cause.
I recall a pious Saudi commentator complained that bin Laden's attacks on the West have woken them up. He complained in not so many words that Islam's demographic jihad in the West was going smoothly, with Islam barely on the radar amongst Westerners, but bin Laden and al-Qaeda have disrupted the slow jihad. Now some people in the West are waking up, and there is increasing criticism of Islam. There is a slowly growing resistance to Islam, despite apologist propaganda of most Islam scholars and the widespread public-relations coddling of Islam by news organizations and politicians. Bin Laden through his terrorist attacks has sparked increasing scrutiny and attention to Islam's core texts, exposing the extreme violence, intolerance, immorality, and absurdity of Islam. I'm sure bin Laden didn't want this. Islam can't stand scrutiny, which is why it requires a code of violence plus high birth rates for its spread and maintenance.

The point of the attacks on 9/11/01 was to wake the Umma up to the lesser jihad. It was a call by a man who lives in a cave, dyes his beard etc, modeling himself as a contemporary Mohamed.
His mistake was assuming all Muslims are the same, they are not, some are ignorant about Mohamed's commands, some are cultural Muslims, the Umma is not united politically or culturally.
OBL has failed and done so miserably. He has brought the light of Western scrutiny and criticism of Islam like it has never experienced before.
Our political leaders may regurgitate the apologist BS, but the people are a different story.
In the end, Islam will be a footnote in a history book 1400 years in the future.
Islam will be an anthropological curiosity that it deserves to be for future generations to learn about and discuss the psychological consequences of a misogynistic, hate filled ideology invented by a seventh century narcissistic, sexually deviant, political despot.
We all have Islam's number thanks to OBL's wake up call.
