A message from Coptic activist Andrew Girgis:
As most of you know on January 6th 2010, seven of our brothers were brutally massacred at the church of the Virgin Mary in Nag Hamadi in Egypt while leaving Christmas Eve mass. Three cars armed with automatic rifles drove by and opened fire targeting Christians as they came out. Bishop Kyrellos having received threats prior to the mass is believed to have been the main target for his criticism against the recent conflict between Muslims and Christians in Farshout. The age of the seven martyrs ranged from 17 to 25 years old. While the Egyptian government turns a blind eye to the violence committed against Egypt's biggest minority, we believe that the US will step in and pressure Egypt to protect the basic rights of its citizens. This is not the first attack on Egypt's minority Christians by Muslim extremists and it certainly won't be the last unless we put pressure on both the Egyptian as well as the American government to put a stop to the shameful and despicable atrocities committed in the name of Islam against Christians. This is why it's important that we unite this Sunday the 17th in a peaceful protest to express our concerns and raise awareness to what goes on in Egypt and to the future of the US as well if it continues in its politically correct path. The event is going to take place on Sunday 1/17/2010 at 2:00 pm by Seattle Center. We will march from there to Westlake and back. The rally will end by 4:00 pm.
Please be there and invite all your friends as we need all the support we can get.
Thank you and God bless you all.
This group is marching in the wrong place. They should be in front of the white house. It will require a great amount of shame and pressure for Obama to speak out on this much less take any action.
I hope that their march draws lots of supporters, and I wish I could be there myself.
But I doubt that it will have much impact on our gummint. We've done virtually nothing to stop the murders of Christians by Moslems in Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria, the Sudan, Algeria, Turkey, Iraq, and others too numerous to list. So there's little reason to expect any different response in regard to Egypt. Indeed, we've done precious little to stop Moslems murdering Christians in our own country.
Maybe this group should be picketing in front of the offices of CNN, NBC, the NY Times, etc. etc.
...we believe that the US will step in and pressure Egypt to protect the basic rights of its citizens.
................
I wish I believed this, too—but I consider it, alas, highly unlikely.
Kudos to the Copts, though, for taking a stand. I hope this rally in Seattle is the first of many calling for US pressure on Muslim-majority countries to practice equal rights for religious minorities.
Wish I could be there.
I read that by next weekend the suspects in the massacre will be released if the police don't come up with any charges. (the reason they even have suspects is three guys turned themselves in last friday)

Human rights in a Moslem country that pays lip service to notions of democracy, you must be having a joke. Lets get it right, muslims are the superior race and christians or any other creed are inferior. They cannot expect any notion of human rights because the ruling elite cannot afford to let the lesser muslims ie those without money or influence be suborned by the the christians. Its quite obvious, even those muslims who have nothing have too have something to look down on. In this case they are looking down on those who are morally, intelectually and spiritually superior to them and they are enjoying it. I would suggest that instead of letting millions of Muslims into the west we should be evacuating decent christians from the benighted lands of Islam and at the same time repatriating the muslims into thier self proclaimed ummah. We should support our christian brethren. I am a christian (non practicing) but I would welcome and support christians of any denomination coming to western lands so they can spread the message that Islam is antithetical to everything that is expressed by western culture. Get rid of them, before it is too late.
If there is more info on the three 'suspects' who turned themselves, it would be interesting to see who they are and what would motivate them to turn themselves in. Maybe guns aimed at their heads.
I too would join this march, and I agree that it deserves national coverage and focus to perhaps wake up our nation of Jihad Deniers.
I'd mail my Congressmen about it but I've suspended writing my Senators and Representative because they ignore my positions (or take a polar opposite stance) and send me back envelopes full of crap which my taxes ate paying for.

Good luck to my Coptic brothers and sisters in Seattle. This Catholic wishes you all the best and thanks you for your ambition and courage.
I've got a commitment during that time, but will try to break out early so that I can attend this very important event. While I don't feel it'll make much difference to the current administration here in the United States, it may be a good way to inform our fellow Americans of the dangers we face with the Islamic World War.
In Liberty
But as a symbolic force there in El Cairo is the place where the Holy Family remained hidden.I,ve been there, now a copt temple, and i can tell you it,s an incredible place, the feelings you have being there....in such a humble condition as it is....but still, man what a thing they have there.
I guess if these animals wil have the courage to break in there at some point. Will they?
Probably it is this sacred place one big reason why they hate the copts.Another one being the fact that the copts are the group with more education and higher standards of living in Egypt.I was told then that even their president Mubarak was one of them.
We will hold a rally in front of the white house for the same cause on 01/21/2009. Please join us.

I thot the Youtube video was going to give to us more info on the DC rally...and I was shocked and horrified to see footage of the actual massacre. That's what it looks like, anyway.
OHMIGOSH...I wasn't ready for the terrible sights and sounds. This is heartbreaking.
We need to realize that Satan is the engine behind Islam.
Here is some footage of the massacre
