Please join us at a peaceful demonstration in front of the White House on Thursday January 21, 2010 from 11:00AM to 2:00PM to protest the persecution and violence against the Copts (Christian Egyptians) which are increasing in frequency and brutality.For your convenience, buses will move to the White House from the parking lots of St. Mark Coptic Church (11911 Braddock RD Fairfax, VA 22030) and St. Mary Coptic Church (8340 Woodward St. Savage, MD 20763) at 10:00 AM. Be there 15-20 minutes earlier.

I'll see if I can get my cousins to protest against Muslims persecuting Christians. It's just not right! They live close by to Washington DC, so I don't think there would be a problem with them going there.

Humza, that's interesting. You're going to get some relatives near DC to help Coptic Christians protest against muslm persecution of Egyptian Coptic Christians? Are these relatives muslim?
If your motives are genuine I applaud you, I truly do, and even more so if you can get these relatives to turn out and actually join the protest in a showing of humanity standing up against inhumanity (Muslims protesting alongside Christians- THAT would be newsworthy in this day and age).
But I have to note that your showing on JW has been less than supportive of non-muslim groups so far, unelss I've missed something along the way?

This is great news. Christians of all denominations should be there supporting their Christian brothers and sisters in Egypt and all persecuted Christians around the world. Maybe the biggest fan of Muslims in the White House would listen and hear the cries of the people he claims to be one of for a change.

I fear that's hoping too much - but maybe it will make it a tad more difficult for Hussein to justify co-sponsoring anti-free speech resolutions with Egypt at the UN.

Today, every church within 100 miles or so of D.C. should be calling its members to support this move, and to attend the demonstration on Thursday. Likewise, the clergy of other faiths should also be asking their members to attend.

I doubt they're so innocent as to expect Hussein to do anything. It's probably just location, location, location. A demonstration in front of the White House is likely to be noticed, at the very least. Hell, it might even get some press coverage, though it's difficult to be certain, these days.

Unfortunately, I'll have to teach. But I will certainly say a prayer that this demonstration gets noticed. The vicious bigotries of the Islamic world have gone excused for far too long.

These rallies should keep on happening, in every free non-Muslim country; not just for the Copts but on behalf of all non-Muslim groups who are being oppressed, persecuted and murdered by Muslims.

Imagine Pakistani Christians, Coptic Christians and Hindu refugees from Pakistan and Bangladesh marching side by side holding big placards saying "MUSLIMS! STOP Stealing and Raping Our Girls!" (Lots of big colour pictures, with their names, of Pakistani Christian and Hindu girls, and Coptic Christian girls, who have been kidnapped, raped, and forcibly 'converted' to Islam over, say, the past ten years, could be displayed).
Imagine Russian Orthodox Christians, Coptic Christians, Assyrian Christians and Thai Buddhist immigrants across the West marching side by side with placards saying, 'MUSLIMS! STOP Murdering Our Priests! STOP Beheading Our Monks!' (Posters with pictures of the murdered Christian priests, such as Daniel Sysoyev from Russia, the clergy who have been kidnapped, tortured and murdered in Egypt and Iraq, and murdered Buddhist monks from Thailand, could be held up).
Imagine Jews, Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs all holding up placards saying, 'MUSLIMS! STOP stealing and destroying our holy places!" (And pictures of Hagia Sophia, Joseph's tomb, the Temple Mount (the Muslim wrecking of antiquities there - tonnes of archeologically-priceless artefact-rich soil simply dug up and dumped in the Kedron Valley), the Bamiyan Buddhas, and any number of other places of worship, shrines, etc., of all the various groups, that have been stolen, converted into mosques, or destroyed, by marauding Muslims). Convert the catalogue of all Hindu shrines wrecked by Muslims throughout the invasion and occupation of India, into a foldout...metres and metres and metres long.
I cannot make it but I support and I am behind the Coptic Christians. Even with no religion of my own, this comes to the heart of human rights, religious freedom, freedom from persecution, and the unalienable right to the pursuit of happiness.

Well, this is good to hear, along with the rally in Washington DC above, and the one planned by Copts in Seattle reported here a day or two ago.
I agree with Dumbledore's Army—it would be great to think that this marks the beginning of a surge of marches everywhere protesting Muslim violence and oppression—against Christians, and Jews, and Hindus, and Sikhs, and Buddhists, and atheists, and anyone considered "insufficiently Islamic".
