A deliberately timed massacre, though the ongoing persecution of Christians in Egypt by Muslims is only vaguely alluded to at the end of the article. "Gunmen kill 6 at Egypt church after Christmas Mass," by Sarah El-Deeb for the Associated Press, January 6:
CAIRO - Egyptian security and hospital officials say gunmen have killed at least six people in a drive-by shooting outside a church in southern Egypt as worshippers left a midnight Mass for Coptic Christmas.
The attack took place early Thursday in the town of Nag Hamadi in Qena province, about 40 miles from the famous ancient ruins of Luxor.
A local security official says two gunmen drove by a group as they were walking out of the Virgin Mary church and sprayed gunfire randomly into the crowd. The official says at least six people had died and an administrator at the hospital where the casualties were taken said seven were dead.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media. [...]
Qena is one of Egypt's poorest and most conservative areas.
Conservative, how? That, and its bearing on security for Christians in Egypt is left unsaid.
"Nag Hamadi"
Of the Nag Hammadi Library, the Gospel of Thomas, the Coptic-bound codices? What more does one need to buttress the claims of Coptic Christians to the area, where they are now being murdered by Muslims who would, if they could, no doubt eliminate every last remaining Copt -- the original inhabitants -- in Egypt.
Pharaonism, the Pharaonism of Taha Hussein (the greatest Egyptian of the last century), that is a policy of Egypt First and Only, and to hell with the other Arabs and other Muslims, can't come a moment too soon, in order for those Copts to be rescued from what those Muslims who take Islam most to heart have in imagined store for them.
"Qena is one of Egypt's poorest and most conservative areas."
Yes, it must have been the "Tea Party" people who did this. This is getting to be absurd as well as insulting. Is it really so hard to say that Qena has radical Islamist sympathizers who are most likely responsible for murdering those people.
If this is the best that Associated Press can come up with using its Islamo-Stringer(Sarah El-Deeb), why even bother doing a report?
Imagine the headlines all over the globe if six Muslims were murdered in a drive-by shooting leaving an American mosque after Friday prayers! No doubt, the President would hold a press conference denouncing the atrocity and promising to leave no stone unturned in bringing the assailants to justice. Local police would beef up security at every mosque and Islamic center in the country. And for weeks to come, our media and university professors would be engaged in a campaign of national soul-searching, trying desperately to figure out what it is in the American collective DNA that could inspire such hatred, and demanding new sensitivity and awareness campaigns that would elevate Islam to a national cause celebre.
As it is, this story will come and go with nary a peep.
More murderous Christmas greetings from the Religion of Peace™.
This is, I realize, a bad spot for this, but I would like to wish all Orthodox Christians on JihadWatch a very Merry Christmas, and a happy Epiphany to all Western Christians.
I forgot at least one more Christian specific comment from my book 'Sparks and Seeds' on www.lulu.com .
Muhammad denies the Trinity as used by some Christians and yet all throughout the Koran Muhammad uses the plural terms ‘Us’, ‘We’ and ‘Our’ for God along with dividing humanity into true believers, infidels, Angels, demons and Jinn. Muhammad has created hostile division in his Koran.
I prefer to keep this more of a Muslim non-Muslim issue because of my fondness for Jews, Hindus, Buddhist, other religions, atheists, agnostics, etc. We are all in danger from Islam. We may debate among each other over who is right or wrong from time to time but Jews, Hindus, Christians and Buddhists do not have written justification from GOD to kill each other that I am aware of
Merry Christmas buddy. I proudly worship both calendars.
As you say, "As it is, this story will come and go with nary a peep."
Much like the Waco massacre. At the time I wondered about the likely reaction if the attack had been on a separatist Black Muslim compound, instead of a fringe Christian sect. Instead, there was "nary a peep" from the papers, the politicians, the professoriate, or the pulpits. As far as our "leaders" are concerned, Christians (and Jews), either within the country or without, are fair game, while Moslems must be protected from any indignity or insult.
Excellent point! Seems to me that the zombies can never offer a satisfactory answer to this problem (along with the hundreds of other problems) with the kkkoranic text.
This slaughter to place close to Luxor, where around 60 non-muslim tourists were slaughtered back in 1997.
President Mubarek must have lost his will to secure that area as he promised after the massacre.....or maybe he was just practicing taqiyya.
You nailed it, my friend. Stupid world big time, no?
The muslims will stop at nothing *growl*
Patrick, it would be better to post the same material multiple times.
Good Rule of Thumb on posting (from experience):
"If you post a comment and you think it hasn't gone through (time out error, etc.) relax and take a deep, refreshing breath, because it actually HAS gone through."
This is pretty sad. Islam and religious freedom or human rights are incompatible. There was nothing the Egyptian govt could have done to protect Coptic Christians because it would have been in contravention of the teachings of the Qur'an and the Hadith. I am praying for the survivors. I lived through persecution, but the Coptic Christians have it far worse. I am grateful to be alive to tell the story in my autobiography, Cracks in the Crescent. Please read it online following the link at http://cracksinthecrescent.com Thanks to Robert Spencer and his associates for keeping the world informed of the true nature of Islam.
As the world yawns....
Could you just imagine the uproar if the BNP so much as **scratched** 6 Mo's over in jolly old England?????
Strange happening over at NPR...
they posted the story.
http://www.npr.org/ (use the front page link [bottom left corner] and see if it can be moved to the "most popular" feature... be sure to 'recommend' it)
This version adds the 'justification' claim that the action was in retaliation of a rape. Makes sense, in an alternate universe.
But, interestingly, the AP story run by NPR closes with this:
"The bishop said he had an idea of who the attackers were, calling them "Muslim radicals."
"It is all religious now. This is a religious war about how they can finish off the Christians in Egypt," he said."
Is that legal to say and print still? What a 'phobe...
I pray for those murdered and may God have mercy upon them and their souls...may God have also mercy on those who murdered them. I know it is easy to default into revenge and hate. I do not minimize the heartache. But, the Blessed Mother, I believe will lead those who have fallen in battle, to Jesus, and for the families of the slain, lift them up as well. Never lose hope. In the end, we always win because we have Jesus, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings...
No, I do not sanction the violence. But I put my faith in Mary and her Son. If I had to be killed for the faith, I would be fortunate to be martyred at a church in honor of Our Lady. This is not a war amongst flesh and blood, rather, this is a spiritual war involving principalities of good vs. evil. Stay close to Jesus and Mary, and you will never need to be afraid...
Sashland-- thanks. I just posted it.
From the article: "Qena is one of Egypt's poorest and most conservative areas."
Translation: "Qena is one of Egypt's most heavily Islamised areas". (Poverty, or a massive gap between whichever Muslim is top dog and controls most of the available resources, and everyone else, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, is merely a consequence of this primary fact, to wit, the prevalence of Islam).
