Grenade launcher, weapons cache seized in New Jersey hotel room from man with "Middle Eastern headdress" -- FBI says no terrorism link

"Investigators also found Middle Eastern red and white traditional headdress, Forrest said." That would suggest that this guy is either a jihadi or a jihadi wannabe. But when the FBI says there is no "terrorism link," they mean essentially that they did not find an Al-Qaeda membership card in his wallet. Is he a Muslim? Does he hold to the jihad doctrine? One thing is almost certain: the clueless and PC FBI, which is too busy playing the dhimmi to stealth jihad groups to remember what the I in its name means, doesn't know the answers to those questions, and hasn't tried to find them out.

Convenience Store Clerks Are Our First Line of Defense Alert: "Somerset authorities seize grenade launcher, weapons cache from Virginia man at motel," by Jennifer Golson for The Star-Ledger, January 25 (thanks to Pamela, with special thanks to Stuart for the Alert name above):

UPDATE: FBI finds no terrorism link to Virginia man with weapons cache in N.J. motel room

BRANCHBURG -- Somerset County investigators seized a cache of weapons including a grenade launcher and hundreds of rounds of ammunition today from the Branchburg motel room of a Virginia man, who also had maps of a U.S. military facility and an out-of-state civilian community.

Lloyd Woodson, 43, whose last known address was Reston, Va., today faces multiple offenses, including second-degree unlawful weapons possession and fourth-degree possession of prohibited weapons, Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne Forrest said.

Read the update: Virginia man had weapons cache, grenade launcher stashed in N.J. hotel room.

At the time of his arrest, Woodson was wearing a military-style ballistic vest with a reinforced steel plate and carrying a .223-caliber assault rifle that had been altered to fire .50-caliber ammunition, Forrest [said]. He was also carrying four loaded magazines with hollow-point ammunition, Forrest said.

Branchburg police confronted Woodson at 3:55 a.m. at the Quick Chek convenience store on Route 28 after receiving a call reporting a suspicious person. Branchburg Patorlman [sic] Steven Cronce noticed a large bulge beneath the green, military-style jacket that Woodson was wearing, which was later determined to be the assault rifle with a defaced serial number, Forrest said.

Woodson appeared "extremely nervous" as Cronce questioned him, and he ultimately ran from the convenience store toward the Regency Trailer Park on Route 22, Forrest. Officers found Woodson hiding in the bushes and he attempted to run, Forrest said.

Officers tackled him and used pepper spray to subdue Woodson, Forrest said.

Detectives later searched Woodson's room at the Red Mill Inn on Route 22 and found weapons including a .308-caliber semi-automatic assault rifle with a defaced serial number, a grenade launcher, hundreds .50-caliber and .308-caliber rounds, a police scanner, and the maps of a U.S. military installation and an out-of-state civilian community, Forrest said. Woodson, who is a Navy veteran, had been staying at the hotel since last week.

An "out-of-state civilian community"? What an odd locution. A synagogue, perhaps?

Investigators also found Middle Eastern red and white traditional headdress, Forrest said....

Investigators found Middle Eastern red and white traditional headdress, but said....no terrorism link to Virginia man with weapons cache in N.J. motel room

MEMO TO FBI:

Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

I saw this last night and Chainsaw brought it to my attention later as well. Too many unanswered questions and likely to stay that way.

Overall, this is not good. Seems like lots of free-agent AQ wannabees are looking for their version of glory.

Stay alert and prepared, unerschrocken. Peace through superior firepower.

Read the comment, some tool thinks our support for Israel is "why they hate us".

Feel safe yet?
We sure don't want to hurt muslim feelings by speaking truth.

LONDON – Scientists and other experts are gathering in London to consider new ways — and new places — to search for alien beings.

Britain's Royal Society — an eminent group equivalent to the U.S. Academy of Sciences — is hosting a two-day event to consider the progress made and the challenges posed in the hunt for alien beings.

One astrobiologist says the best place to look for aliens may be right here on Earth. Paul Davies of Arizona State University said Tuesday that extraterrestrial life may have found its way to this planet at several different times.

If so, Davies says, the aliens could be "right under or noses — or even in our noses."

Message to the FBI - Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

... too busy playing the dhimmi to stealth jihad groups to remember what the I in its name means...

Islam?

So we are supposed to be relieved that this sort of spontaneous jihadism is occurring without the aid of outside terrorist connections? Is anyone in authority asking why AQ styled terrorists are becoming en vogue among the psychically challenged and dispossessed among us? Apparently not. Buy ammo.

What's the big deal? I always travel with my grenade launcher.

This guy has anti-tank weapons and bullet-proof armor. He evidently has the means and intent to attack a US military base as well as US civilians.

Let's start treating this as an Act of War, not a simple law enforcement matter. This is a lot more than a Gun Control violation!

Yea, what gozan said: a shit-load of ammo.

http://freemendo.typepad.com/undaunted/2009/03/get-your-shit-in-one-bag.html

Courts have repeatedly decided that law enforcement has no affirmative duty to protect you as an individual, but only "society" in general. It is YOUR responsibility to protect you and those you love.

Let's see:

Grenade Launcher: Check
Assault Rifle: Check
Hundreds of ammo-rounds: Check
Police Scanner: Check
Military Base Maps: Check
Middle Eastern Headdress: Check

Nope, no Islamist / terrorist connections or intent here!
Just another lone nut! Move along & never mind...

Are people really soothed by these twisting of words and refusal to call these incidences what they are? The group this guy is involved with is the Ummah. That being said, whether an individual is acting alone or part of an organized group, what does it matter - actions taken with such weaponry is absolutely terrorism.

Are we supposed to feel all warm and fuzzy if he's somehow not affiliated with Al Qaeda? What is the fear here of calling a spade a spade? I am fed up with this entirely.

"...carrying a .223 assault rifle altered to fire .50 caliber ammunition."

There is a limit to engineering and to my gullibility. How about some fact checks from the press.

Matt Ackland reports for MYFOXDC.com:
beginning at 01:34

"Meantime, authorities in New Jersey say this Reston Street (Glade Ave. - Generation I) is Woodson's last known address.
We went door to door with Woodson's picture but no one recognized him and neighbors say they haven't been any
recent police activity."

So we have here a 43 year old Navy deserter who recently established a domain in the same northern VA area as whence the Fort Hood shooter came from, and who has three prior addresses in in Brooklyn, NY, 1 in District Heights, MD, 1 in Jamaica, NY according to USSearch.

FBI says no terrorism link.

What else can they say? Short of catching him with an Al Qaeda platinum membership card, the only alternative would be for them to accuse him of being a Moslem, and it's an article of faith that Islam is ok, Islam is alright. Just misunderstood is all.

*** 92:8 ***

To say otherwise would be to admit the horrible truth, and as we see every day from the likes of Dennis Prager, the Moderate Moslem is no Unicorn, the mythical beast is a true fact that's got to be, otherwise we're in big trouble.

Holy ****. I live about five minutes from where this took place. What the hell was this guy planning?

Thank God for our local police! Great job!

". . .Forrest said they seized another Bushmaster .308-caliber semiautomatic rifle with a defaced serial number, a 37 mm Cobray grenade launcher, a second bulletproof vest, . . .

A second bulletproof vest? For whom? Are the authorities even considering there may be an accomplice still out there?

I like Mr Spencer's line - "Convenience Store Clerks Are Our First Line of Defense Alert".

But it's true. It was a video store clerk who raised the alarm about the 'Fort Dix Six'.

If you're not, at some level, a 'people person', you don't get, and keep, a job like 'checkout chick/ charlie'. I know; my eldest daughter just got a part-time job as a checkout chick in a big, busy supermarket. She doesn't mind the busy-ness; she *likes* people; she 'reads' people; after all, she's planning on a career in theatre.

If you're a 'people person', you *read* people; and in that kind of job you get LOTS of practice. Checkout chicks and checkout charlies see lots and lots and lots of people, day after day after day. You get to know who the 'regulars' are in your patch, who 'belongs', after awhile. You also learn the difference between the harmless kook - 's/he's a bit of a nut, but no problem' - and the 'creeepy'.

I'm not surprised at all that this particular Bad Guy - whether he's a black convert to Islam, planning freelance Jihad, or whether he's simply a disgruntled non-Muslim deserter from the armed forces, planning revenge - was picked up by, in order, the convenience store clerk who first got a bad feeling about him and rang the local cops and then, by the local cops acting on instincts honed by long practice at the coalface.

Quote:
"Branchburg Patorlman [sic: Patrolman] Steven Cronce *noticed a large bulge beneath the green, military-style jacket that Woodson was wearing, which was later determined to be the assault rifle with a defaced serial number*...

"Woodson appeared "extremely nervous" as Cronce questioned him,

"and he ultimately ran from the convenience store toward the Regency Trailer Park on Route 22, Forrest. "

The cops noticed something odd - the bulge under the jacket, the nervousness of the suspect. When the suspect's nerve broke and he bolted, that nailed it.

Let's remember that it was two ordinary highway patrolmen who caught two Muslim wannabe jihadists with their boot full of suspicious home-made potentially-explosive objects...and they initially pulled the car up for...speeding, only doing the search that found the objects, when their cop 'sixth sense' started jangling in response to 'odd' behaviour.

In the end, whether it's Muslim Bad Guys plotting or about-to-initiate jihad, or common-or-garden non-Muslim Bad Guys up to random Bad Stuff, the first line of defence in our societies *is* 1. Joe and Jill Public and 2. Sergeant Plod down at the local cop-shop.

That's why it's all the Joe and Jill Publics and Sergeant Plods who are the people who really, really need to know as much as possible about the Jihad doctrine of Islam: for they need to add, to the broad set of (often subliminally noticed) cues and clues that say 'bad stuff might be about to happen!', the subset of cues and clues that are specific to Muslim jihadis and their enablers.

NOTHING TO SEE HERE....MOVE ALONG....NOTHING TO SEE HERE...THAT'S IT....MOVE ALONG....

Pismopal, it can be done. The basic AR-15 platform can be modified to fire 50 cal ammunition. Google Beowulf 50 cal.

Wonder how long the receiver will last?...sigh

"Lloyd Woodson"

Hmmm...I wonder if he might also have another name by which his friends know him, a name that includes something like "Muhammad" or "Hussein" or "Hasan," a name that authorities aren't releasing? Just asking. Besides the red and white "headress" (kafiyah?) were there any actual jihadist materials?

There's the possibility that Woods really is one of those domestic terrorists Janet Napolitano has been warning us about, you know, the returned military veteran (although, 43 is a bit old for this) with firearms training, and no connections to jihad. We'll know the answer to which it is, domestic or jihadi, if we see the guy paraded about as an example of what she was talking about, and otherwise being used as "proof" that Janet's insane approach to homeland security is justified. If he turns out to be a bona fide jihadist, then the story will probably sink into obscurity.

Hey dumbledoresarmy

"I like Mr Spencer's line - "Convenience Store Clerks Are Our First Line of Defense Alert".

was my line i sent in, and really, i was just trying to point out that our best defense are actually trained citizens. Look at Israel for example. Everyone is trained. Police etc arent everywhere all the time, but civilaians are. Its a good idea. but on a lighter note. i better make sure my house is in order by at all times having my grenade launcher sighted in and ready to go. Not to mention my flac jacket.

From what I have heard from an Author I talk whose newsgroup I subscribe to, the receiver holds up quite well! The only problem He has is that his 12 year old daughter wants one as well!

Ex Agents from FBI and DoD tell it like it is, but their seniors don't want to know.... From PJTV interview:

[Ex Agent}....Because what my experience brought me back to was the complete unresponsiveness to facts, that as a practical matter they experience every day. I think, that gives way on a different level that has me believing or holding that, if you have no factual basis to hold a position, you have no professional basis to support it. If you’re professionals, then you have a duty to be competent. That includes the duty to know. If you are national security analysts who have a professional requirement to know but don't, or you’re in breach of your oath to be competent, you’re in violation of your oath to protect and defend.

Former agents tell it like it is.

"They also found a loaded Bushmaster assault rifle inside his coat, police said He was wearing a ballistic vest had four additional magazines carrying ball-type and hollow0point bullets and several bent coat hangers in his jacket pocket, police said."

S-E-V-E-R-A-L (?) bent coat hangers . . .in his pocket?? What The Heck for?

Anyone got a clue?

www.veteranoutrage.com

I am ex military
Many of my friends are in the army in Iraq
and Afghanistan..

I personally have seen this grenade launcher 37mm
although smaller (it was originally designed to be a cheap) knock off to make an assault rifle look meaner..

My first thought was (man you could turn this into a weapon real easily)..

so lets see
50 cal ammo
5.56 ammo
37 mm grenade launcher now modified (meaning to fire aipers) rounds ..
maps
military gear
bulletproof vests 2 of them
this was either a man heading to a local weapons show (not in NJ i know i used to live there)
the only ones with weapons are either grandfathered in
or criminals..

You cant BUT ammo in new jersey without a license..
and they treat you like a criminal..

So here is a muslim
armed to the teeth.
with more weapons than i have
with more firepower than myself, and my friend the marine
in my neiborhood..

maps
night vision rifle mounted scopes
a koran

jihadist material

Oh but this Muslim WAKO was out at 3:00 am running around with a bullet proof vest because he wanted to go down to fort dix (where i was trained) to sign UP
BULLSHIT..

www.veteranoutrage.com

Yep.

In a sane world, in a sane society, any connection of a criminal to Islam would be grounds for treating that criminal as an enemy combatant waging war against us, which would involve the following perks and benefits:

1) A heightened ability for our official protectors (police, FBI, government intelligence) to use deadly force more readily

2) If captured alive, no reading of rights, no trials -- Go Straight to Jail, Do Not Pass Go.

3) Once imprisoned as an enemy combatant in a military prison, the prisoner either is executed if he killed or intended to kill; or he is interrogated to ascertain if his actions were part of a larger plot still having the potential to endanger untold citizens. In a sane world too, interrogation would not be conducted with respect for the sensibilities of the enemy, but with rational respect for the ball on which our eye is supposed to be: the safety of our citizens and our society.

"S-E-V-E-R-A-L (?) bent coat hangers . . .in his pocket?? What The Heck for?"

Dunno. Maybe to hang bent coats from?

Seriously, maybe to serve as improvised hooks for hanging something(s) on.

The media must been told - ORDERED - not to ever call a muslim a muslim!

I'm so sick of hearing from the corporazi presstitutes how "Jersey Man," for instance, wanted to blow up NY (for no given reason; if it was in France, they'd have to call him a "Bored Youth.") Only at the end of the article do we get to read his name: Muhammad Al-Whatever.

I'm only worried that they've been told that, NOT out of some real, good reason (for instance: that the authorities KNOW that Islam = terrosism, and so they DON'T want to point out in the public media all the time the exact Qur'anic verses condoning and encourageing violence, and they have secret plans - while the non-muslim Arab, and Jewish populations still out-number the muslim immigrants, for instance, to deport them ALL) but because the muslims have already bought, not "infiltrated" themselves into our pathetic Sales!-driven society, with Saudomite money.

We are owned by our Sales-Masters (the Warren Buffets and Rupert Murdochs of the world) not by their Sales-Puppets, the 'politician' sub-class of Salesman, as we have been led to believe.

All Salesmen are terrorists - they advertise fear to sell the greedy escape from their own threats, and whereas our Golden Rule has always been "to not attack first," our evil, satanic, and wholly adversarial social zeitgeist has always been the exact opposite: we always attack first in order to Buy Low: ("You and your stuff are trash; pay me to put you out of our collective misery, you Mistake!") and to Sell (our selves, like idolaterous, adulterous whores) High: ("God envies me, that's how great me and my stuff are!").

Our SalesMasters LIKE islam and it's mind-slave 'muslims:' muslims have been known to work for food, and the inherent threat they pose is GREAT for selling 'Security' (both the electronic systems, AND the denial of our own public Freedoms and free speech) to avert the 'crisis.'

Salesmen (including bureaucrats) will never solve any temporary problem with a permanent solution! They will always exploit the problem's symptoms as eternal "crises" for which - of course! - we are sold that we "need" these same salesmen, as our "crisis-relief management experts."

Salesmen are best at selling themselves to us all as 'experts' - as our 'Leaders,' for instance!

Anyone who still believes the Saudomite's favourite Salesman, GW Bush, was any better than Salesman Obsama... simply Google: "PortsWorld."

Hm. They posted it twice; sorry.

Bent coat-hangers can often serve as simple lock-picks.

President Barack Obama says that the war on terror is finished. Every Islamic terror incident that occurrs in America is an isolated crazy person. All the beaurocrats and some military top officers are falling in line with this sort of political correctness. They are all making sure that the dots are isolated.

So, how can anyone expect the dots to be connected to Jihad or Islamic Fundamentalism?

America needs a new president and governing coalition. I look forward to the November elections as a good start.

The Cycling Tuscan

One little thing.

In the comments section attached to an online report which was entitled "FBI finds no terrorism link to Virginia man with weapons cache in N.J. motel room", I came across the following comment, by one 'deltair', citing 'the news on the radio' but unfortunately not saying which station or presenter, or when:

"It was talked about on the radio this morning.

"He deserted the navy over seas for eight years. Then he shows up and the navy says OK, you can go they didn't prosecute. In my day he would have been shot for desertion. Now he shows up armed to the teeth.

'And yes the news on the radio siad [sic] the Police that checked his room out said he had Mid east stye clothes and headress *and Islamic religious books*". END QUOTE.

Can anybody confirm any mention of 'Islamic religious books' in *any* other version of this story?

What about this civilian community map? Brooklyn?

My nickel says he's done time at Islamberg. They're armed to the teeth and primarily African American Muslims.

...always Reston...

Wire coat hangers, cheap/quick hotel room alternative to zip-ties to restrain hostages?

Anyone know the color code for red and white headwraps? Saudi -Yemen - Al Q?

Sure would like to know if he had any inflammatory political tracts that might give a clue to his motivations... I have not seen any references (except above) to his reading list.

Do they know yet what church he attended?

"Red and white checkered headdress – Generally of Jordanian origin.
Wearer has made Hajj and comes from a country with a Monarch."

so, saudi arabia, jordan, yemen... he made hajj?
