Kenyan Prime Minister caves to local Misunderstanders of Islam

"The PM also appealed to the Muslim community to remain calm and give the government time on their grievances." Grievance? Al-Faisal is a jihad terrorist, but who cares? Muslims, after stabbing and looting and destroying, have grievances! Violent intimidation works again, courtesy Obama's friend Raila Odinga.

"Kenyan PM orders investigations into Muslim riots," from Xinhua, January 16 (thanks to Maxwell):

NAIROBI, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Saturday ordered investigations into Friday's demonstrations called by Kenyan Muslims to protest the arrest of controversial Jamaican Muslim cleric Sheikh Abdullah al-Faisal.

Odinga instructed Internal Security Minister to carry out comprehensive and urgent investigations into the riots that left at least five people dead and the fatal shooting of protesters.

"The PM also appealed to the Muslim community to remain calm and give the government time on their grievances," a statement said.

The peaceful protest turned violent as the marchers pelted police officers with stones who in turn fired in the air and lobbed tear gas canisters.

Several people including police officers were among those who were seriously injured in the protest while some of them were stabbed by the demonstrators.

Shops adjacent to the mosque were looted and vehicles that were parked on the streets had their windscreens smashed by stone-throwing youths....

Seems that no one wants Al-Faisal -- except Kenyan Muslims. The Kenyan government can't unload him anywhere.

The protest may have started peacefully after Friday mosque, but when demonstrators carry knives, obviously their expectation is one of violence.

From an account of one of the pro-Al-Faisal protests:

Some of the protesters were chanting "Allahu Akbar" (God is great) and others displayed what was thought to be the flag of Somali rebel group al Shabaab.

Pure Jihad. The only "grievances" here are where Muslims perceive *any* "obstacle" to the spread of Islam and the imposition of brutal Shari'ah law.

That anyone can stand in relatively civilized Kenya, and think that *it should be more like Somalia*—a savage, insanely violent failed state—shows what these Jihadists have in mind for their nation.

Hi Robert. I regularly visit here and appreciate your day-by-day commentary, but it suddenly occurred to me today that there seem to be some "inside jokes" creeping in, that may detract from the effectiveness of the site as an educational tool.

Probably the most common is the phrase "misunderstanders of Islam" used in your title. Regular visitors such as myself appreciate this droll bit of irony, but it struck me as I read the title that a newcomer might scan, find 3 or 4 bits like this and decide your site is incomprehensible or just nonsense.

I would miss these running jokes if they disappeared (hey, what fun is doom-mongering without making fun of idiots with their heads in the sand?), but I wonder what could be done to make them more "newcomer friendly".

Not wishing to increase your energy barrier, but here's a suggestion: A page of explanation of your running jokes, for anyone coming in "mid-stream", to help interpret what your point is when you speak of Islamophobia, or speak of It could also contain bits labout your "Departments" (like the "Islam Respects the People of the Book Department" referred to in a recent post). Indeed, it might be fun to formalize some of these at the same time as explaining them (explaining a joke often takes the fun out of it, but maybe a clever site admin with a bit of wit can invoke a bit of artful language).

Rather than link to this page in the menu, which is getting pretty full already, you could link "inside joke" text to it, jumping to a target explaining the particular phrase being used. A nice way to "link back" would be to make this entire page a "back link", so a user need only click to return. Just a thought.

Rather than linking the whole text, which might be problematic because in a post title it sits inside another link, maybe it should have a special icon, or footnote (*) or a registered-trade-mark symbol (which in itself might help newcomers "get it").

I wouldn't want you burdened with the distraction of such "added value" editing on your webpage. But perhaps you have a site admin with a bit of time on his/her hands, who might be up to the task of designing a feature like this and automating the process of adding this link whenever such a phrase gets used (automating it might lead to other problems, like linking to the "inside joke" where you're citing someone using the phrase non-ironically. Hmm, I wonder what sort of confusion that might cause...?

While we're discussing "added value" tweaks, can I complain about one of the buttons on your comment editing page? It says "submit". I'm about to click it now, but I admit that every time I do it grates on me.

Can't it be changed to "send comment" or "post" or something of the sort?

I'd like to see a "Refuse to Submit" button, but maybe some users might be a bit confused about how to use it ... a bit like the sign I've always wanted to put up in a parking lot and watch people try to process it: "Unauthorized Parking Only".

If it is not broken, do not try to fix it.

Possibly you should start your own website?

Odinga signed an agreement with Kenya's Muslims to give them whatever they wanted in exchange for their vote, and then denied signing it. These Misunderstanders of Islam were "dismayed" by this deceitful tactic.

dsinc: Thanyou for the link. Odinga seems to have virtually agreed to Islamize Kenya for the Muslims' votes, beginning with two sharia-ruled states and the outlawing of Christian proselytising, and establishment of sharia courts throughout Kenya. Will Kenya end up like Somalia? Just for votes? Is this the fate of all democracies, to be Islamized via "multicultural" democratic process? It seems to be happening in Britain too.
The special cocktail of rights and freedoms devised in the West - which have travelled to other parts of the world as well - not only do not protect us, but ensure our demise. What system, apart from sharia law, is being offered up as an alternative? We don't have long to come up with something.

That anyone can stand in relatively civilized Kenya, and think that *it should be more like Somalia*—a savage, insanely violent failed state—shows what these Jihadists have in mind for their nation.

Not just Kenya. This is what they have in mind for the entire planet, but try telling the thickos of the Left and the dhimmis inside our institutions that. All you'll get are accusations of racism and bigotry from these blockheaded zero common sense pseudo-intellectuals.

The whole of East Africa (Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania) are sliding into islamization, fast. My uncle recently went back to Uganda after being kicked out by the muslim Adi Amin, to perhaps see the place for the last time before he pops his clogs. He was flabbergasted to see the sheer number of Ugandan muslims that has sprung up since he was there last in the 70s and the number of Arabic signs and mosques.

The story repeats across the whole of the old colonies.

Muslims and violent rioting.............so what else is new?
