When confronted, according to a source close to the events, he explained that he was lost and was looking for Fort Dix -- the site of an attempted jihad attack in 2008. This report offers scant details, and there are apparently few to be had, but I am sure that Abdulrahim Sulaiman just wanted to help slash open the piñata at the school party, or perhaps help cut the lunchmeat at Fort Dix.
"Trespasser carried knife into Tappan Zee Elementary, police say," by Alex Taylor for LoHud.com, January 21 (thanks to Shawn):
PIERMONT -- A Connecticut man found trespassing Wednesday at a South Orangetown elementary school was arrested at a nearby store while carrying a knife, police said.Abdulrahim Sulaiman, 23, of Bridgeport had already entered the main lobby of Tappan Zee Elementary School before 8 a.m. Wednesday, when he was spotted by school officials, police said.
After a call from Principal William Lee, police officers from Piermont and Orangetown arrived and arrested Sulaiman at a nearby convenience store.
Police said Sulaiman was carrying a gravity knife at the time of his arrest. The knife is similar to a switchblade.
In an e-mail to parents, Lee said he had questioned Sulaiman "for a few minutes" before asking him to leave.
No one was injured.
Lee said classes were not canceled, but students and staff were on lockdown while police swept the building.
Sulaiman was charged with third-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors.
He was being held in the Rockland County jail. Bail was set at $5,000 cash. He is due in court Feb. 3....
It remained unclear why Sulaiman had entered the school....
Indeed it does.
Abdulrahim Sulaiman? Of, of course. A Methodist.
From the article,
Similar to a switchblade, eh?
Oh boy, I guess I need steel-lined boots to keep my switch...er, I mean gravity...
What was I saying?
This is scary....even with a knife he could have done some serious damage. It could have been so much worse.
We all must be vigilant like these school officals, good work!
It remained unclear why Sulaiman had entered the school....
That should read 'It remained unclear why Sulaiman is still alive'.
You're welcome.
Another probe.
Another Muslim man behaving badly?
Yawn
I wonder when and where Beslan will be repeated??
It sounds like Abdulrahim Sulaiman, moham the mad zombie, could be a true believer.
Sometimes I wonder if what the West really needs is an Army
of deprogrammers to snap these deeply brainwashed and deceived lunatics out of their psychotic trance.
I want to hear more about the Ft. Dix connection.
I do not know what it is but lately all the"Johnny Jihads" seem to keep crawling out of the wood work... Is it because of our "Leader" or is it they feel that they can... I just know that when Bush was in charge, hmmmm
You mean connectionS..Take your pick. New York,Beslan,Chicago,Toronto,London,Madrid,Mumbai,Denmark,Detroit,Fort Dix,Fort Hood, etcetera etcetera et al.
The dots aren't dots anymore. They're blots and messy evil spills and spoil.I recommend hate in copious amounts. We've already tried love and understanding and compassion and helpfulness and accommodation and bending and censorship and appeasement to no apparent avail or change for the better. Don't you just HATE when that happens?
Yes and Washington DC,Oregon,Dallas,New Jersey,Boston,Minneapolis,Memphis,Virginia and more to come no doubt..Yup, I really do hate Islam.

Geert Wilders needs one of these babies.
All da best eh..
Give me a freakin' break!
Luckily the bastard chickened out, otherwize there'd be a parcel of dead kids laying around the Tappan Zee Elementary School.
Of course I might just be jumping to conclusions. He might have been looking for a girlfriend.
"Of course I might just be jumping to conclusions. He might have been looking for a girlfriend."
Or his wife. Maybe he had word she was fooling around with another 4th-grader, and he was there to perform an honor-killing.
This elementary school located in a tiny hamlet of the lower Hudson Valley holds classes for second and third graders only (7-9 yrs).
This 23 year old "Abdulrahim Sulaiman", allegedly from Bridgeport Connecticut, wielded a gravity knife and entered this elementary school property, which is located more than sixty miles away, prior to normal school hours.
Here is a comment placed in the local paper:
No students should have been brought into the school until after the school building was swept.
What is Abdulrahim Sulaiman's immigration status? Where does he attend religious services? Is he employed? Where? Is he a student? If a student, where? What brought him to this location? On what assumption did the authorities think this individual was acting alone?
So many questions.
The mohammedan was looking for Fort Dix?
And STILL our soldiers are no better equipped to defend themselves against attackers (especially jihadists) than they were at Fort Hood!
They won't be able to defend themselves adequately as long as base commanders and unit commanders can arbitrarily forbid law-abiding citizens/soldiers to carry loaded firearms on base, even if those soldiers/citizens possess carry permits issued by the state the base is located in.
Time and again we see the mass murderers (or wannabe killers) pick places where their potential victims are disarmed by law. Places like schools, churches, post offices, doctor's offices, college campuses, and retail businesses or shopping malls that forbid concealed weapons.....and now we can add our military bases to this list.
This is a disgrace! The same soldiers that were entrusted to obey all applicable federal/international laws and treaties while making life and death decisions in the heat of mortal combat are suddenly deemed untrustworthy simply because they are back on American soil? What's wrong with this picture????
But I forgot that Obama & Napalitano consider our own soldiers to be the enemy, while at the same time they are currying favor with the mohammedans and trying to become their "newest and bestest friends".....
there would likely be signs on the street that would lead this sawed off toad in the direction of ft. dix, and there is likely lettering on the outside wall of the school with the school's name, along with a sign in front by the street or road. he's lost alright, lost in the culture of the world's most violent, arrogant, dishonest, and intolerant ideology.
He's dirty. And he's lying.
His arrogance is showing when he says he's looking for Ft Dix. He's supremely confident that 90% of the stupid and inferior kuffar wouldn't have a clue what that meant, so he toys with it.
Was he 'carrying a knife' in his hand, or was it in his pocket? If he was carrying it open in his hand, he probably was looking for Ft Dix, and just dropped in to ask directions...Or he may have been looking for softer target and got cold feet when confronted...Or this may have been a dry run... I hope they ask this guy some serious questions...
Of course if he was looking to jihad, the authorities will never tell us about it...
the sword is the symbol of islam, kinfe must to be the same thing.what a hell ?this guy is a good muslim.
THE SWORD IS THE SYMBOL OF ISLAM,KNIFE MUST TO BE THE SAME THING.WHAT A HELL, THIS GUY IS A GOOD MUSLIM.
GOOD COMMENT.
So his English pronunciation isn't so good.
What he actually was looking for was Dick's, the sporting-goods chain, but when he said that, his hearers minsunderstood him as saying "Fort Dix".
He'd bought this knife at another branch of the chain, but it wasn't quite what he wanted, and he was going to exchange it.
It was all just an innocent misunderstanding. Of course.
"It remained unclear why Sulaiman had entered the school....
"
thats why they invented waterboarding.
Soon after the 9/11/2001 attacks, there were reports of groups of three or four Muslim men, who went to several elementary schools in a suburb of Boston. At each they entered without being stopped, but at each, too, the group was eventually challenged by a teacher and at least in one case, brought to the principal, to whom they explained that one of them was considering the school for his child and wanted to look it over. The explanations were apparently accepted, the "concerned father" and his friends dismissed, and I have seen nothing further about this. But all kinds of things have happened, are happening, that we do not know about. Why we are not told is a question that deserves to be pondered.
Beslan? Good grief, when reading this story, how can one not think of Beslan and the horror that was perpetrated there.
Rather than just shudder about Beslan ~ and that's all most people do who know about it ~ we should be prepared. All of us.
I read an article a couple weeks by a police SWAT trainer who finally wrote what I've been writing since Sep '04: when it happens, cops need to respond to Beslan-like stuff here as though it's MOUT, an infantry mobile operation in urban terrain, not as though it's your average active shooter.
http://freemendo.typepad.com/undaunted/2009/09/the-perfect-day.html
And, if you'll pardon me banging my own drum here; the "Perfect Day" info at my blog is the best stuff anywhere to help us get ready for American Beslan, and maybe prevent it.
John Giduk, the SF operator/security expert who went to Beslan and debriefed the Russian operators, left a comment at my blog. Go take a look.
You can't just read about Beslan here and there and leave a pithy comment. You gotta do something.
Let me get this straight..."Abdulrahim" walks into an elementary school...and he's wandering around sporting a blade? And they let him out on bail?? So he can go through with it next time? Like he cares about our laws?
Fort Dix? No, that was a misunderstanding...What he said was that muslims have short dicks...
Looks like you need to work a bit more on straightening that out, George. He wasn't charged with brandishng the knife at school and the news story does not make that claim. Possession of ANY weapon that can harm another is illegal in CT when one is on school property. He was most likely charged with violation of Sec. 53a-217b of the CT penal code.
It was probably a probe, to see what school officials would do and how quckly, and perhaps to get many of us accustomed to seeing "harmless" Muslim men wandering around schools so we don't call the cops and do the other things we can and should do as quickly as we need to.
He is from CT the school wasnt in CT. The school is in a small suburb of New York about 2 ½ hours from Bridgeport, CT. The location is out of the way. You need to take a bridge no matter what to get into the area. Its location is not near a highway if you get lost and need help looking for Fort Dix’s. It’s not even in the same state as Fort Dix’s. Why was a he in the school prior to it opening? What was he doing? Why would a 23 year Muslim male drive from Bridgeport Connecticut to Rockland County and wander around a elementary school early in the morning?
It still remains unclear why or what he was doing?
You are correct, undaunted, the story says he was carrying the knife at the time of his arrest. Silly me! He'd probably just bought it at the convenience store where they arrested him, right?

Your distress was because he was "sporting a knife" and yet was released on bail. One can be freed on bail for crimes as heinous as murder, so your point above is still a bit fuzzy. Especially the part about dicks.
Cjt: Thanks for the clarfication/correction. With the road/bridge set-up as you described in that area, would it be easy for bad-guys to take she school and delay the cops by damaging the bridges?
I hate this new keyboard.
Undaunted, my "distress" is that, arrested with a weapon, after appearing for no seeming legitimate reason,in an elementary school,
surely out of his way based on his residence, and it just happens his name is Abdulrahim...and a paltry $5K sets him free?
Seems to me that's setting the bar pretty low
where children's lives may be in the balance.
I am also aware that one can be held without bail on crimes as heinous as murder where the public's safety is deemed at-risk.
As for my inference to his statement regarding his anatomy...I just can't believe he was really looking for Ft. Dix. Can you?
I appreciate the correction, George.
I'm in agreement with you: I think this situaton stinks and this guy should have been interrogated and held until the facts could have been ascertained. But, like you said, it's a pretty low bar they have set.
As a mother of 2 young children, I'd be freaking out as well, no matter what religion the fella was. Here in Canada, we're not allowed to carry knives unless it's a jack-knife in its carrying case on ur belt - other than that, they're considered a concealed weapon.
It's pretty sad to c meshuggenahs like Saluamin (or howeveryouspellit) terrorising children by simply carrying a weapon. It's also sad as to how the Muslim terrorists have behaved so badly that we're literally bending over backwards in fear and jumping out of our skin when incidents like this happens. Time for us Westerners to toughen up & not take guff off the Muslim bullies.
Undaunted, after reading some of your posts for the past few months, I had gone over to your blog and read most of what you've written there. I want to thank you for making me realize that it's just not enough to understand what is truly going on but even more importantly, be prepared (as much as one possibly can) for defending oneself in the event of an attack... whether that be against myself, my family or friends/neighbors.
Being a Woman and we tend to feel more vulnerable than Men but that does not mean we can't be knowledgeable and train to utelize whatever tactics that may save ours or someone elses life.
If things continue as they are, there will be three choices: convert, live as a Dhimmi, or be killed - not one of those options are tolerable to me.
Thank you, Undertaker. JihadWatch is the best at making us all aware of the threat posed by Islam. I just take the tactical angle and am grateful and honored that I'm permitted to link from here.
Again... thanks.
Thanks, Undaunted,
I think we can agree that it's pretty spooky, muslim or no, but the muslim part surely raises an eyebrow for me. I hope the authorities will demand the answers to all of Cjt's questions above before they let this creep take one step from the "Crossbar Hotel..."
Regards,
Geo

Sorry, I didn't intend to send that twice, my error!
Where are all the crazed Unitarians when you need one?
"Possession of ANY weapon that can harm another is illegal in CT when one is on school property. He was most likely charged with violation of Sec. 53a-217b of the CT penal code."
Until we (not just the USA but also the entire West) are able to treat Muslims as unique enemy combatants, we will never get a sufficient handle on an escalating, metastasizing problem that may well devolve into multiple large-scale attacks against various parts of the West using weapons of mass destruction whether chemical, biological or radioactive. The risks are too high to continue treating this as a criminal problem at best. This Muslim entering an elementary school with a knife was not a criminal; he was an enemy combatant.
Please allow me to introduce myself and present the other side of the story if I may. I am retired army (CSM)- 25 years active duty and an arabic linguist (should tell you what type units I was in for most of my career)- with numerous tours overseas. I recently retired and back home in my home state of NJ. I am now training soldiers/airmen/marines/and navy units for deployments overseas. This young man and some of his family members work for me as Foreign Linguist Speakers/Trainers at Ft Dix. This young man's family members worked with US Military Forces Overseas at grave danger to themselves and families during Desert Storm, OIF I/II/III/ and IV. They were resettled in the US and most live in CT. He was on his way back to Ft Dix for work/training when he became lost coming through NYC..Now for those who have been through that area with no GPS very easy to do. He was driving down very early in the morning to make the training lanes that morning. As it was his first time coming back from visiting his family He became very lost and stopped by the school because there was a delivery truck dropping papers off at the front steps. When he attempted to speak with the two men there they ignored him totally due to his ethnicity I can only assume; he then went into the front door of the school because he saw the principal. He was directed out of the school while asking for directions back to main road (NJ Turnpike) and got back in his car. At NO TIME did he pull his leatherman/knife out of his carrying case on his belt?? Please do NOT jump to so many conclusions without knowing all the facts! He then got back in his car and started driving. When he saw the convienience store he stopped again for directions. This is when the police - responding from a call from the principal - took him into custody. I received phone calls from him beggining at 0600 hours telling me he was lost in NY. The final phone call was when he stopped at store to say he would be back to work by that afternoon. I received numerous phone calls after that from the FBI- NY State Dept of Terrorism, etc to ask me about him. I look forward to the court date so I can go up there and try to straighten this entire "overblown" mess up. Again, this young man and his family have been US Allies since the initial war in 1990 - at which time I was there with 24th ID. I understand the comments from others, just asking to please stop attacking this one. He is more patriotic then most americans I know and was planning on joining the US Army as an 09L. For those that do not know what that job is(?) It is an embedded translator for US Forces overseas. The most dangerous job in Iraq/Afghanistan! I now have to go to court and ask the Judge/State to drop the weapons charge as this may prevent him from joining the US Army. Sorry for the rambling, but the enormous amounts of comments on this site as well as others have really affected this young man..Appreciate your consideration and reading the "other-side" of the story...CSM(R) Haus
CSM Haus thank you for your years of service. Sounds like you have been around the block. Thanks for the work you continue to do with our troops. It sounds like you have given up a good deal of your life to fight for our country.Again thank you for your service.
I am all for the effort to win this ongoing war against Jihad. If your guy is truly who you say he is then he did make a mess for HIMSELF.
If your story is as you say then it is a shame your guys name made it into the papers. Why could you not stop that and why was he held at all? Why was there not some major intervention to pull your guy?
But if all is as you say then there are a few questions about this whole situation still at up in the air.
Did Mr.Sulaiman not have a DOD or Dept of the Army ID that clearly would verify his employment with either DOD,Army,or Akima? I know having worked on Ft Dix for 10yrs that all contractors have some type of ID that would in fact confirm employment.
If your guy was lost in NYC which is 17 miles south of Piermont he would have past the conveinience store (he was later arrested at) traveling north prior to coming across the school. Your guy may have some problems with land nav if he does go into the service.
Mr Sulaiman had a home address in Bridgeport Ct and you are saying it was his first time home? You are saying this was his first time in CT driving to Ft Dix?
Do you think that the principal at the school was wrong to call the police after Mr Sulaiman was asked to leave, and then after Mr Sulaiman responded by asking it it would be ok if he just slept in his car in the school parking lot? If he was on his way to work to make the Lanes early and lost all before 0830 hrs why ask to take a nap?
Also there is quite a difference between a Gravity Knife and a Leatherman.
The whole incident led to a lock down of the school. Your guy was far from where he was supposed to be.
Parents at the same school system had one their administrators held at gunpoint less than one year prior, they want to know what is going on. When the paper lists only half the story people start to go looking for the truth. You ask people not to jump to conclusions but you write this "When he attempted to speak with the two men there they ignored him totally due to his ethnicity I can only assume"? How about maybe he was dazed and out of it?
If the people of the US stay alert then we have a better chance of staying safe.
CSM Haus I respect your former rank but please do not ask us all to wear blinders because you know this guy personally.
A lot of people who have worn the same uniform as you and I looked the other way for far to long leading to the incidents at Ft Hood at the hands of one of our own. Please don't expect the followers of sites like this one to not ask questions. Sometimes we the people are the only ones doing so.

did not intend to post three times, once was enough......sorry
As a parent of this school where the incident occurred and a member of this community you speak of. It so interesting to hear the other side of the story. Even though major parts are left out. He was not arrested for being a Muslim. He was arrested for being found in a school he did not belong in and had no reason to be there. When asked to leave he did not. He also asked to sleep in his car in the parking lot as the school was beginning. For someone who was lost on his way to work, why would you make such a strange request? Maybe he should learn our culture and realize that school parking lots are not hotels. Anyone doing such bizarre things should be scrutinized. Our school handled the sitition in the right manner. I don’t want strange men from other states who have no business at my child’s school or on the school grounds sleeping in their car. Also here is a geography lesson for you. We are 20 miles from NYC and no where near any major highway you would take from CT to get to the NJ Turnpike as you have referenced. If he was in NYC why did he drive 20 miles out of the city to get to our school when there is plenty of gas station, convenience stores and shopping centers to stop for directions along the way? The NJ turnpike is no where near our location. Nor are we easy on easy off to any highway. As a parent of the school I don’t care what he is. I don’t want him in my child’s school or sleeping in the parking lot. The fact is he didn’t belong and didn’t leave when asked and when you say crazy things to people. They are going to call the police. My child’s life is in the schools hands and they handled this correctly. His story stinks and so does yours explanation.
It's interesting how quick we rush to judgement.
I spent the whole day today with Abdulrahim Sulaiman at Fort Dix where we both work in the woods around the clock, in all kinds of weather, keeping the spiders, the ticks and the snakes company, all the while training our troops for duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Sulaiman, in the time that I have known him, as been a tireless interpreter and translator, giving our troops the most realistic training that Fort Dix has to offer.
I once got lost in the South Bronx at night, where I had no business being, and was lucky enough not to have stopped and asked for directions.
That Mr Sulaiman was perhaps culturally ignorant, that he was lost and confused about suburban geography, is easy to understand. That he was abused by the system for which he is prepared to fight and die as a member of the US Military which he so admires, I don't think Mr Sulaiman understands that. I don't either.
I believe that Mr Sulaiman has been verbally lynched by a no-nothing media and internet mob. Fortunately, Mr. Sulaiman will defend himself in court, albeit at great personal expense. I am confident that the truth will prevail in court. And until it does, I support him.
This whole posting has really showed me how twisted things can get and how much people will assume. As well as how hard it must be to live here if you are foreign. I stumbled upon this article and was very surprised because this is the same Abdulrahim I have known personally for sometime. He is a harmless, hard working young man. It's true his family came here after helping the military in the first gulf war and he does provide a lot of important information to soliders by working at Fort Dix, such as culutral custom and what could be found offensive over there. At times I've known him to work very long hours, but he would still try to come back to CT to see his family when he could because they are very important to him. It was aweful for me to read what people suggested he was intending to do at that school, because I know he came to America in hopes of getting away from violence like that, which his family had been subjected to first hand. Things we are lucky enough to never have seen.(Such as your relatives being kidnaped at night out of their beds or having your neighborhood gased) He is not a trouble maker and has only been trying to support his family and earn an honest living. Which is the goal of any real American born here. Also,to everyone commenting about why he had a knife. He lives in BRIDGEPORT, wouldn't you?
As a side note, the US helped relocate his family to America, but as he told me his story of moving here I realized the US relocates kurdish people to the worst ghettos in America. First he lived outside Dallas and then Bridgeport. I found it boggling that his family risked their lives (literally) to help the US and they bring them here where they are placed in most aweful parts of our society. The first view point they get of our culture is drug dealers, prostitues, and a lot of stealing.
After becoming his friend it really changed my views on Islam. I realized many Muslims are leading the same lives as Americans, with the same goals, values, and beliefs. Others Muslims, a minority, are at the extreme end of thier spectrum but there is the same minority in the US of people at the extreme end of our spectrum.
Hey,
CSM Haus, Tom Perrin , and Alexandria would you like to defend your close friend now?
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2011/08/connecticut-muslim-held-on-1-million-bail-after-stabbing-two-people-at-gas-station.html
"I have known personally for sometime. He is a harmless, hard working young man." Alexandria do you still stand by this statement?
"I now have to go to court and ask the Judge/State to drop the weapons charge as this may prevent him from joining the US Army. "
CSM Haus ,How do you feel now about the weapons charge? Will you go back again before the new Judge and just recite how good of a guy he is? How about letting your buddy into our Army.
"I am confident that the truth will prevail in court. And until it does, I support him."
How about you Tom Perrin? you still stand by your earlier statement?
How about this one. Maybe you didn't know a damn thing about your guy other than what he wanted you to know. Maybe he was doing drugs the entire time you have known him and that is how he stumbled into the school to begin with. Or maybe he was being called by a higher calling.
Bottom line is the three of you should have your security clearances reviewed if you are all D.O.A. employees or contracted.
Anyone care to comment why Mr. Sulaiman on or about August 17, 2011 "allegedly attacking two men at a Mansfield gas station admitted that he stabbed one of the victims"?

"Sulaiman is believed to have driven north on Route 206 to Bordentown Regional Middle School on Dunns Mill Road after the alleged stabbing." Why?
I don't know this man or the military or support people he worked with, but could this be a trail of jihad?
