Sheikh Hussain al-Ma'touq sees the Palestinian issue and other issues solely in Islamic terms. Yet Muslim spokesmen in the West seem intent on downplaying the Islamic angle of these issues, and playing up the secular political angle. Have they had a talk with Sheikh Hussain al-Ma'touq? "Kuwaiti Politician Warns of Enemies' Plots to Sow Discord among Muslims," from the Ahlul Bayt News Agency, January 17:
Secretary General of the Kuwaiti National Islamic Alliance Sheikh Hussain al-Ma'touq warned Islamic countries to keep vigilant against enemies' plots, saying that enemies of the Islamic Ummah (community) are seeking to sow discord among Muslims.Secretary General of the Kuwaiti National Islamic Alliance Sheikh Hussain al-Ma'touq warned Islamic countries to keep vigilant against enemies' plots, saying that enemies of the Islamic Ummah (community) are seeking to sow discord among Muslims.
"After the consequent victories of resistant groups (in Palestine and Lebanon) against the Zionist regime, the enemies of Islam have sought to dismember the Islamic Ummah through plots and conspiracy," al-Ma'touq said.
He also stressed the necessity for resistance and support for unity by the Muslim countries.

Really?
Weren't two trillion dollars in American money spent, and thousands of American lives lost, tens of thousands of American soldiers and Marines seriously wounded, in Iraq so as to keep the country together, rather than allow sectarian and ethnic divisions to split Iraq? Wasn't that the brilliant goal of those who make American policy?

What's with the "Vahhabi"? A Tcherman accent in Kuwait?
This reminds me of the old joke, in which the cryptic answer is given, and you must figure out what the question was.
Here goes:
"9-W."
"And do you spell your name with a V, Herr Wagner?"
"have sought to dismember the Islamic Ummah" - interesting, creative, and somewhat odd personification. I wonder what book offered the inspiration for these particular choices of words.
