I believe the Ft. Hood Butcher used the exact same phrase in his PowerPoint presentation which the WaPo published shortly after the man-caused killing spree.

D.U.I.I. -- Driving Under the Influence of Islam

"May I see your license please?"

Officer looks at license.

"Mr. Al-Akayleh Ahmad Al-Awaysheh Dawoud Al-Fa'ouri, please step out of the vehicle."

The driver steps out, evidently inebriated from his fanaticism.

"Breathe into this device, sir: it's a We-Love-Death-alyzer. Thank you."

Officer inputs the data.

"Now extend your arm in front of you, and slowly bring the tip of your finger to the tip of your moustache. Alright, thank you."

Officer grunts significantly.

"Finally, I'd like you to open your eyes wide and look in my direction as I shine this light on you -- and keep in mind that I am an Unbeliever."

Officer notes the soulless stare of pupils inflamed by demonic possession; writes him a ticket for a D.U.I.I.

Good to know that federal agents are learning Arabic. Or is "We love death more than you love life" a sentence lots of people know by now? What is it (in Arabic)? It might pop up in the street any time and I should be ready...

Not quite. We love life more than he loves life, to be sure, but I doubt that he actually loves death, per se, at all. What he loves is not death but Islam--Allah, Paradise, Muhammad--and death is merely his means to pursue that perverse and delusional "love." (Probably it is not love at all, but rather some sort of compulsion, but that is another discussion). Jihadists imagine that they are going to be rewarded with a sensualist Paradise in the Hereafter, and with rewards, honor, respect, power, and adulation in this life. (The latter are not imaginary, as long as jihadists continue to receive financial and social support from among the Muslim population). This is the jihadist's Achilles heel.

The intended upshot of their "We love death..." phrase is perhaps to suggest that jihadists can regulate our lives, which we our afraid to lose, because they are so ready and willing to die for their beliefs. What we need to do is punish them in the area where they are most vulnerable. We need to dismantle and vanquish what they claim to "love," i.e., Islam, insofar as they wish to deploy it as a legal, political, and military entity. Every such jihadist attack should be followed by our responding with greater and more public and more comprehensive criticisms of Islam. The jihadists cannot be beaten by criticism of Islam alone, of course, but it is an important way to inhibit further jihadist attacks by incurring a net propaganda cost upon them and Islam. In any case, Islam criticism is justified, and we need to do it anyway to counter the softer forms of jihad which are directed toward establishing sharia. But it is worth highlighting one of the main reasons jihadist attacks continue, namely, that there is no propaganda cost, and possibly a benefit among Muslims, to Islam.

Sounds like the fascist sclogan of the 1930s- "Viva La Muerte"-"Long Live Death!"

I like the "You First" comment. It reminds me of the great tough guys who were not afraid to stand up for this country. Imagine what Ronald Regan's reply would have been to the Jihadi cry "we love death more than you love life!"

I wonder what the court scenario will look like when defendant and plaintiffs have to give testimony. The victim drivers of the cars that this mozoid a-hole hit must have been pretty shaken up. I wonder if they will also sue for damages through personal civil lawsuits. They should.

What this was was an attempted *homicide attack*—it's just that since Medujanin, pursued by the police and unable to make more elaborate plans, intended to take out a carload of Kaffirs on his way out.

In addition to the other charges, they should charge him with attempted homicide.

Kinana of Khaybar, I always appreciate your take on things, but I have to respectfully disagree with you here somewhat.

Muslims do indeed kill themselves with the goal of the tacky Islamic paradise in mind, and they use the threat of death to keep Infidels in line. But I don't believe this is just a means to an end.

Islam is infused with death—the inflicting of it, the seeking of it, the glorification of "martyrs" and "shaheeds", the creation of conditions throughout Dar-al-Islam that foster it.

Islam is intensely, fundamentally nihilistic, in a manner that goes way beyond even its vicious tactics.
