"Mo" Hassan's murder case today barred his new attorney from using an emotional-disturbance defense and said he would only grant the jailed businessman further delays in his trial based solely "in the interests of justice."Hassan is accused of beheading his estranged wife, Aasiya Zubair Hassan, 37, last February.
Hassan's new defense attorney, Frank M. Bogulski, today told reporters that he is "confident" he can get an acquittal for Hassan on an unprecedented defense combining psychiatric elements and justification based on claims Hassan was "a battered" spouse who was verbally abused and humiliated by his wife.

Homicide Prosecutor Colleen Curtin Gable, though, noted that Aasiya Zubair Hassan was beheaded about a week after she began formal divorce proceedings.And Gable today won her months-old motion to bar a psychiatric defense.
The judge told Bogulski he can make motions in coming months seeking permission to reinstate a psychiatric defense but as of now, such a defense claiming Hassan was emotionally out of control when he killed his wife "is precluded."...
Hassan, 44, a Pakistan-born businessman, is accused of killing his wife in the office of their Muslim-oriented cable station. He walked into Orchard Park police headquarters about an hour after the Feb. 12 killing to inform police of her death. Hassan has been jailed without bail since then.

Oh, I'm glad that was all cleared up so now the judge can get on the case, the cause of the previous "delays" now apparently resolved.
How are we to take such a case, such a person, such an unholy mess as we have made for ourselves to be in, all over the Western world, by allowing such people to come and live among us, seriously? Shall we even take ourselves seriously if we do not -- seriously -- deal with this situation as sensible and sane people, willing to draw all the logical conclusions from the evidence (beginning with what is in the Qur'an, Hadith, and Sira), would if they were not driven to semi-distraction, in every sense, by their inferiors posing as their betters, "taking a leadership role" and pretending to be able to instruct and protect them?

Grotesque calumny against the poor beheaded victim. It is also a calumny that strains credulity—Aasiya Hasan had a restraining order out against her husband, and was obviously frightened of him. There are signs that he was stalking her.
Have you seen pictures of this pair? He's half a head taller than she is, and he clearly outweighs her by a considerable amount.

In addition, beheading someone with a sword—a means of murder which is up-close and requires a considerable amount of strength—is hardly the method a person would use who was frightened of the victim—he would have likely shot her, instead.
But it is the Islamic way to commit violence and then endlessly disparage the victim. The only "humiliation" this woman likely caused her husband was in leaving him—but that was enough, as he saw it, to make her life forfeit.
Muzzammil S. "Mo" Hassan should just suck it up, and use the trial to publicly and loudly proclaim that beheading his wife was perfectly justified and legal according to Islamic precepts and precedences provided by Muhammad. Just think of all the huzzah's and attaboy-you-tell'em-Mo's he'll receive from Muslims worldwide! Oh, and maybe Geert Wilders could consider including such a fine, observant Muslim on his list of witnesses, as well.
How is Bridges TV doing? Still building bridges, Interfaith Healing, possibly having solemn-sappy missing-the-point exchanges of views among the "three amigos" of Seattle? Perhaps cooking classes for Iftar dinners? Sweet-faced hijabbed girls, observing Ramadan? What?
We should be clear that the judge ruled this way, not because they're standing up to Islam, but because the defendant is male. The judge would almost certainly have allowed a battered spouse defense if the sexes were reversed.
There are battered husbands, but I don't think Mr. Hassan will be credible, if he tries to present himself as one. He's a Muhammedan. He could have talaqed her thrice, and poof--no more evil wife.

There's that word again--"humiliated". Muhammedans are always victimized, and almost always "humiliated" on top of everything else. Then again, they are really fragile and unable to bear our Western vulgarities.
What--did she refuse to cover herself to his satisfaction? Did she slack off on her household duties after doing nothing at all during her day except help run a TV station? Did she ask him to take out the trash? Did she ask him to pick up a box of Kotex, on his way home from visiting his other wives and children?
What pushed him over the edge? It will be interesting to find out.
True Justice would be giving him the Death Penalty and then beheading him with a sword. His attorney couldn't claim that it is cruel and unusual punishment because it it is not only acceptable under sharia law but also the defendant considered it an acceptable punishment for a lesser offense.
