Polish disc jockey attempts tribute to Islamic culture, gets barrage of death threats in return

"Fundamentalists reacted to the piece, placed on an internet music store website, because it included backing music of an Islamic prayer." Muhammad harbored an intense hostility to music (among other things); hence, this gesture was taken as an insult, and threats of violence predictably ensued.

"Polish Disc Jockey Threatened By Islamic Fundamentalists," from The Outlook, January 17 (thanks to John Doe):

Warsaw, Poland 17 January 2010 - Islamic fundamentalists posted death threats against a Polish disk jockey soon after he published a song that he says was supposed to be a tribute to the Muslim culture.
It started on Christmas Eve.
Jakub Rene Kosik, a 27-year-old DJ from Poland excused himself from the dinner table and checked his Facebook. Word of his newest composition, Mekka, was out. And it was ill-received.
"You messed with Islam," the first message read. "We'll never forgive what you did to our religion," read another. "You played with us, now we'll play with you." "We're everywhere. Forget your international career." By morning he had more than 300 such messages.
Fundamentalists reacted to the piece, placed on an internet music store website, because it included backing music of an Islamic prayer.
"I smiled stupidly and told my girlfriend "I think they want to kill me for this composition". In the first instant, she didn't react. Afterwards she was hysteric," Kosik said.
"I had mixed feelings. My first thought was, "great, publicity". Later I started thinking if I didn't in fact really hurt these people. But my composition was supposed to be a tribute to their culture.
"I'm atheist. But I was raised with respect to different religions and philosophical opinions."
The threats and negative comments, including one from an 8-year-old French boy - "Jakub Rene Kosik - die dog" - resulted in sleepless nights for the artist. He replied to the threats, each one individually, apologized and explained it was never his intention to offend anyone's religious sentiment. But it wasn't until he removed the piece from the sites that the taunts subsided.
Kosik denied accusations of a publicity stunts and said he doesn't feel any more popular and hasn't been invited to any more parties than usual.
"I am bitter that I was treated that way by fundamentalists. And I pity them that they aren't able to see things more liberally," Kosik said....

Ask me if I have any sympathy for this Polish knucklehead.

Grzegorz Bogdanowicz of the Warsaw Faith Community Muslim Religion Union ... said the reaction to the composition was the result of the negative treatment of Muslims in Western European nations where they feel like second-class citizens.

I knew the west was to blame. Islam, after all, is a religion of peace.

No wonder the West is going down. I'm beginning to think Archie Bunker's Polish jokes are true.

Being sane is Un=Islamic..

You'd think this guy would figure out that the hundreds of 'fundamentalists' aren't the exception but the base, the fundament that is Islam. The invisible non fundamentalist muslims wouldn't dare support him because they are just as much a target of the fundamental or authentic muslims, and death is for them as for all 'INFIDELS"

And that all the other relgions do not offer threats of death for such as the dimbulb polish
atheist did you'd think might awaken some sense of what the differences are between Islam and all other faiths. But the atheists of the world aren't any different than the other groups when it comes to denial about what this means.

"I'm atheist. But I was raised with respect to different religions and philosophical opinions." - the Polish dhimwit

That is so idiotic. You don't just "respect" everything wholesale. You examine the religion or the "philosophical opinion" or the political ideology. Then you decide whether it's WORTHY of respect. I believe that's called Western critical inquiry.

Otherwise, lets just all "respect" Nazism, simply because it's "different."

This guy is such a moron. It's difficult for me to comprehend how anyone can be so stupid.

"to be a tribute to the Muslim culture"

I guess he now knows a lot more about the, "muslim culture".

Dumbest.Statement.Of.The.Year.

And it's only January!

Excuse me, Mr. Kosik, that's why they are called FUNDAMENTALISTS. Whatta moran.

Unfortunately, I just heard John McCullough on WJR 760 AM Detroit, fob off a caller who said "Islam is the problem because it teaches hatred of everyone not Muslim." McCullough, normally sane and conservative, said he was "appalled that people don't really research the whole question."

It's part of our American nature not to believe that people, especially religious ones, want to kill us just because we don't believe what they believe.

At this moment I am trying to reach WJR to ask McCullough to at least read the Koran and then get back to his audience.

Now you know Mr DJ.It doesn't pay to be so naive when it comes to Islam. There is no compromising with intolerence.

The liberal DJ got challenged, oh my, and apologies didn't work - the horror.

pull the "Mekka" crap, and remix a classic - Polish Winged Hussars. "accounts mention the awe-inspiring sound of wind roaring through thousands of pairs of wings as the Polish cavalry charged into battle"
Lollapalooza 1683 Vienna, the sound that stopped islam.

Well I'm here in the capital of Poland itself, where just this weekend a friend was showing his collection of text message ringtones - including one featuring "Allahu Akbar" sung from a minaret, followed by screams and machine-gun fire.

One of the few places left where you can still play such ringtones, and say what you think without your "ignorance" being pointed-out, or a typically-measured reaction triggered from upset Mohammedans. Or so I thought. Interesting if the threats came from Poland itself, or from the new extensions of the Ummah to the West?

Why did this Polish lad feel compelled to pay tribute to islam, especially since he's an atheist? Why not Christianity, which is under seige all over the world and is, after all, a significant part of his heritage even if he doesn't practice it. I certainly hope the anti-Western, self-hating fever is not spreading to eastern Europe, one of the last bastions of politically incorrect sanity.

Susanp: because it's the latest thing - you can't get much more "other"y than Islam, once you are bored with Hinduism and Buddhism and all those other exotic religions the West has had crazes on in turn for a while. But Islam must surely be the last: maybe it's time for Christianity and the Monarchy and all those unfashionable institutions to enjoy a comeback.

What a pathetic little moron.
