The liberal establishment is trying to forstall a very serious conflict, even a civil war, by shutting up those who use fighting words. It's as if, in 1938, Western countries, fearing the dangers of rising fascism, decided to censure ovely critical or alarmist opinions as a way to avoid the inevitable clash.
Good luck - it won't work. It will just make the boiler explode with greater fury later on under all that pent-up PC pressure. And will make the battle harder later on.
