UK bans Islamic supremacist group

"The order will come into effect on Thursday and make it a criminal offence to be a member, punishable by up to 10 years in prison." Certainly a step in the right direction, but there is a long way to go. The members can simply set up another pro-Sharia group and continue as before. More on this story. "Wootton Bassett protest group Islam4UK to be banned," from the Daily Mail, January 12 (thanks to all who sent this in):

Islam4UK, the Islamist group which provoked outrage with its plan to march through Wootton Bassett will be banned under counter-terrorism laws, Home Secretary Alan Johnson has announced.

The order will come into effect on Thursday and make it a criminal offence to be a member, punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

Mr Johnson said the group had tried to escape proscription simply by changing its name.

He said the order would apply to the group's other names, including Al Muhajiroun.

"I have today laid an order which will proscribe Al Muhajiroun, Islam4UK, and a number of the other names the organisation goes by," he said.

"It is already proscribed under two other names - Al Ghurabaa and The Saved Sect.

"Proscription is a tough but necessary power to tackle terrorism and is not a course we take lightly.

"We are clear that an organisation should not be able to circumvent proscription by simply changing its name."...

But what will prevent them from doing it again? It is not against British law to agitate for Sharia in Britain. So another name change is in order!

What a great idea for a Muslim game show! Name That Terrorist Group!

First prize: a week in Somalia.
Second prize: two weeks in Somalia

The commenter in this piece suggests that we need to go after the 'personnel' and the 'ideology' involved, not the name of the outfit:

"Whack-a-Mole with 'Islam4UK'"

http://www.hurryupharry.org/2010/01/12/whack-a-mole-with-islam4uk/

The group could very easily disintegrate & create a whole new orgainisation altogether, but w/same ppl. Best if the law does use proscription as well as keeping a close eye on the individuals.

This is a Whack-a-Mole exercise. Instead of banning a particular organization, which can be formed and dissolved at will, why not try banning the individuals behind the organization? Anything less is an exercise in futility.

Jihad is a many-headed hydra. Anyone can form a new group—that is why it so absurd to see officials scramble when they hear some act of terrorism claimed by some group they have never heard of—the Glorious Swords of Islamic Vengeance, perhaps, or The Sons of the Martyrs of Karbala, or Al Qaeda in the Iberian Peninsula, or some other b*llsh*t outfit.

It's the Jihad, stupid–all the rest is semantics.

That being said, this step by Britain is most welcome, and a refreshing sign of sanity. Now all they have to do is go after the forces *behind* Islam4UK—Anjem Choudury and his ilk.

If they go after Choudury, the group's 2nd-in-command will either take over or appoint a new leader.

I agree with the posters regarding the fact that a new name will come up. But...this will inconvenience choudry and his ilk, which seems to be the best we can do these days. Personally, I'd like to see him charged with treason. That's not gonna happen unless the BNP wins the election, and I don't think they will.

Without government intervention (hollow laugh) there is no problem getting BNP members fired from the lowest kind of job or if they are businessmen picketing their premises. They are denied the use of venues for meetings and can even be beaten up without any police action taken against their asailents.

Investigative reporters seem to infiltrate them on a regular basis and their membership list is on the net with the clear purpose inviting further sanctions from all and sundry.

I find it strange this doesn't happen to Anjem Choudhury and his people.

This is just smoke and mirrors by the gummint trying to give the impression it's doing something about the Islamic threat. If they were really serious about shutting down Islamic supremacist organizations, the authorities would be closing virtually every mosque in the country; it's Islam itself that's the supremacist organization.

I'd just like to mention a related news story from the UK that broke earlier today. Bob Spencer might post a newspaper article about this on the main site but I can't contain myself and I've got to get it off my chest. Let me explain:

Today a bunch of Muslim protestors were put on trial for disrupting the march past of 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment as they paraded through Luton on their return from duty in Iraq last year. The Muslims, part of a group affiliated with Islam4UK waved banners saying 'Anglian soldiers - butchers of Basra' and yelled 'baby killers!' 'rapists!' 'murderers!' and other such vile crap at the homecoming troops, and police had to be brought in to keep order when crowds of Britons, who had turned out to applaud and honour the troops, angrily confronted them. Seven protestors, Munin Abdul, 28, Jalal Ahmed, 21, Jabair Ahmed, 19, Yousaf Bashir, 29, Shajjadar Choudhury, 31, Ziaur Rahman, 32, and white Muslim Ibrahim Anderson, 32, were arrested for public order offences. Sadly, that is the end of the good news.

Astonishingly, despite harsh words from District Judge Carolyn Mellanby, all seven walked free today on conditional discharges with only small fines to pay. Outside the courtroom they were smiling, triumphant. 'This case shows the need for Sharia law,' they told the TV cameras, 'British law is not credible.'
The Muslims, all of whom are living on state benefits said, 'The taxpayer paid for this court case. The taxpayer will pay for the fines too, out of benefits.'

Although having fought the case as a freedom of speech issue, one of the Muslims held up a banner during the impromptu press conference saying: 'Islam Will Dominate The World - Freedom Can Go To Hell', without so much as a blush at the obvious hypocrisy inferred.

Hang on to your hats, there's worse to come. The seven defendants refused to rise when the Judge entered the courtroom. Despite this being automatic contempt of court, the Judge gave way and 'compromised' by allowing them to enter court after her. Also, they were granted an extra 20 minutes lunch break so they could attend a local mosque and one of the rooms in the courthouse was made available to them so they could absent themselves from proceedings to pray.

Amazing. Shameful. Despair.

This apparent banning of the sharia-supremacist group is probably just posturing by the Labour government, in light of the upcoming spring elections. Let's keep in mind that it was Labour that implemented the initial, partial form of sharia in the U.K. Labour brought in sharia. Remember that at election time.

Good news: We have evidence of intelligent life in Britain.

Bad news: It's not VERY intelligent life.

Yet.

Why not cut off their state benefits as a reminder who's in charge? It would be the next logical step wouldn't it?

I quite agree.

Many years ago I attended an FE college next to the city Assize Courts where we regularly saw the Judges come and go in state. One day some of the rougher students cat-called a Judge from an upper window, things like "Where did you get that haircut?" etc. (For non-UK posters British Judges still wear 18th century wigs.)

The Principal received a visit from Court officials after which he called a full assembly. He was told the students had committed contempt of Court and could be jailed without trial for as long as the Judge considered necessary to "purge the contempt".

District Judge Carolyn Mellanby did not need to compromise, they should have been locked up until they were prepared to comply. But that would only have caused trouble so yet again the muslims got a concession.

As to the Luton prosecution it is interesting that it came up when it would serve to divert attention from stories like Wooton Basset. It will also give the impression the "government" is doing something. They could have been dragged into court the following week if they were that keen.

I think what we are seeing is the control of public opinion by "Prosecution management". Timing such prosecutions as a safety valve to dilute public anger from somewhere else at an opportune time.

Swedish Wiking

But that would infringe their "uman rights"!!! As well as every muslims right to screw the kuffur without limit.

FredMk_1...

They give a f..k about our human rights, they have their own according to the Cairo declaration but with an islamic twist. They say that they live by this but often refer to OUR declaration of human rights just to build up a smoke screen.

These people are dangerous, make no mistake about it. Cut their state benefits and let us see what happens.

I posted on another similar thread about how I feel this lip service banning wouldn't serve any purpose. They even decided to interview Choudary on the TV and Radio. Idiots - he played the badly done to victim and they lapped it up. I read the comments above with interest - you made very good points.
To Kinana of Khaybar - absolutely true - Labour, together with liberal elements signed the UK up to European human rights laws, which Muslims are using very effectively against us. This willful blindness about groups like Islam4UK's motives extends as high up the pecking order as to Government Ministers. I know - I spoke to one last week. He just kept saying "You can't ban people for saying things you don't like". Like talking to a member of the Stepford Wives Programme.

Hard Rain - it's really frightening just how ineffective British Law is - it kills me to admit but those idiots were right. The guy from the government I spoke to said "There are ways to campaign to get laws changed, you know". I said "Yeah, right - and while we're campaigning how do we stop Islamoterrorists blowing us up?" He couldn't answer that one.

I also asked him if I'd have marched through the streets of London saying Muslims to the gas - would I have got away with it? No answer to that, either.

What I've decided to do is not let anybody stop me from speaking truth to power, and from what I've read on this thread others feel the same. Surely we can't ALL be ignored?

The leader of Islam4UK, Anjem Choudary, receives £25,000 per annumm in state benefits and claims he can take it with a clear conscience because it is Allah's money. Most of the Islam4UK activists live off state benefits. Islam4UK was doing more to make Britains Islamophobic and aware of what Islam is all about. Banning them is doing Islam a favour. However not to worry Anjem and his merry band of Islamic loonies will pop up under another name and will continue to make indigenous U.K citizens aware of what a menace Islam is.

Why can they not just ban Islam all together and be done with it?

Ban Islam worldwide and bring peace.

I need to wake up because that will never happen.

Doctor: You have been diagnosed with terminal inoperable cancer, too late. You have about 5 to 10 years left of life.

Freedom: Are you serious? What kind?

Doctor: Islamic and I am afraid I am.

Freedom: I thought that I would be around forever.

Doctor: So did common sense.

Freedom: When did common sense die?

Doctor: Common sense died after the birth of political correctness. Your next.

"Blessed are the idiots, for even they can be forgiven."

I am the truthsayer and I approve of this message.

Well, jerk my jihad!!!! The Brits have hit an emotional bottom I guess; they sure have a high tolerance, though, for the mozoid B. S. They had better be prepared for the morons' backlash, as I'm sure its coming.
