ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is reaching out to "all levels" of the Afghan Taliban in a bid to encourage reconciliation with its war-torn neighbour, Pakistan's foreign ministry said on Saturday."We are trying to reach out to them at all levels and all of us would like that our efforts should bring some results but at this point in time it is very difficult to say," ministry spokesman Abdul Basit said of Pakistan's efforts.
The Afghan government is preparing a reintegration plan with the Taliban that targets lower to mid-level Taliban fighters but has not focused on more senior leaders of the insurgency.
Basit said it was important that there be reconciliation at all levels and that Pakistan was helping in this regard. He declined to give any details.
"Whether or not our efforts will yield results, we will see," he told Reuters in an interview.
"We don't want to discuss the specifics. There are efforts being made and we are trying to win over those Taliban or forces who are 'reconcilables'. Let's see," he added.
Asked specifically whether Pakistan was targeting top-level leaders, he said: "We are trying at all levels but where we succeed is another matter."...
Didn't Pakistan try this a couple of times before? And the Taliban responded by by terrorizing more regions in the Swat Valley?
IIRC, there was even a video of an innocent couple being gunned down shortly after the Taliban moved in.

All levels of the Afghan Taliban and all Taliban will see this offer as surrender...'Reaching out surrender', is Rasool Obama-ism...Rasool has 'reached out' to all levels of Islam and Mahoundians, and just look at the rewards we reap for his efforts...creeping Sharia...I wonder how much of that jizya money to Pakistan requires an 'outreach to the Taliban' program? Rasool couldn't find even one 'moderate' Taliban to negotiate with, so now he want's Pakistan to do it...
'All levels' is an invitation to Mullah Omar to stop jihading and enjoy the unlimited benevolence awaiting him from Rasool Obama...Somehow, I think Omar is more interested in Allah's causes, and will share in the loot, but wont stop the jihad...

Of course, maybe I'm being cynical, but you can't reach out to Taliban leaders who have been hit by Hellfire missiles from drones. (Why don't they call them Paradise missiles?) Anyway, the Pakistani government might take the following line: Hey, why not hold off taking out Taliban leaders for a while because we're in negotiation with them and we need to show 'good faith', don't we? Just put the drones on hold. Give us a chance.

Recently Israel and Egypt announced stunning measures to deal with neighborly Gaza. Weapons smuggling has Egypt putting in an underground metal wall 18 meters deep x 11 km. Israel is installing "Iron Dome" a sci-fi rocket defense system. This to deal with helpless persecuted muslims.

A pious Mahoundian will never 'negotiate' on equal terms with kufr...The US is an invading crusader in Mahoundian lands, and must be fought, and driven off or killed...Kufr is najis because it refuses to accept Allah...It must be converted, forced into dhimmitude, or killed...These are orders from Allah, and every pious Mahoundian, including the Taliban, are aware of them...
It is unlikely that the Taliban will negotiate, unless the US want's to surrender...
I thought that Pakistan already had a long-established programme of "reaching out to 'all levels' of the Afghan Taliban". In the past, there have been numerous reports that Pakistan's Inter-Sevices Intelligence (ISI) agency was actively supporting the Taliban in their activities and this may well still be continuing.
In which case, any such programme could simply become 'jizya' to fund the Taliban.
Perhaps Pakistan could arrange a meeting of "key Taliban players" to discuss the programme, upon which the US miltary could drop some bombs via its excellent Predator drones? This could be much more effective.

The Big Question hanging in the air is Who's side are they on? Is it inevitable that we declare war on Pakistan? I am already of the opinion that we should have a huge troop build-up on the Af-Pak border and threaten them with this. We should also put about 100 artillery pieces on the border and continuously shell the "Federally Administered Tribal Areas" after declaring them Taliban occupied areas. Then call the Pakis up on the phone every day and tell them the shelling will stop when they give us U.B.L. and al-Zawahiri.
