Al-Qaeda offers to aid Nigerian Muslims in their persecution of Christians

Solidarity within the umma, united against Infidels. "North Africa Qaeda offers to help Nigerian Muslims," from Reuters, February 1 (thanks to all who sent this in):

An al Qaeda group in North Africa has offered to give Nigerian Muslims training and weapons to fight Christians in the West African country, where more than 460 people were killed in sectarian clashes last month.

Vice President Goodluck Jonathan sent in the military to halt the violence after four days of clashes between Christian and Muslim mobs armed with guns, knives and machetes in the area round the city of Jos in central Nigeria. "We are ready to train your people in weapons, and give you whatever support we can in men, arms and munitions to enable you to defend our people in Nigeria," the statement by al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) said.

It was signed in the name of Abu Mus'ab Abdel-Wadoud, who was described as the "emir", or leader, of the group, and appeared on Islamic websites that often carry statements from groups using the al Qaeda name around the world. "You are not alone in this test. The hearts of Mujahideen are in pain over your troubles and desire to help you as much as possible, in the Islamic Maghreb, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Chechnya," it said....

During the Biafra War (1967-69), Muslim Arabs gave aid to the Nigerian Muslims who crushed the Igbo and other Christian tribes of the south. The Western world did nothing; the United States and Great Britain were so determined to do nothing to offend the so-called central government of Nigeria (in the hands of Muslims), that they did not recognize, much less aid, the Biafran government led by Colonel Ojukwu. Ojukwu himself understand exactly why the Christians were fighting; in his Ahiara Declaration of 1969 he spoke of the "Jihad" being waged by the Northern Muslims.

Many do not now know, many others have forgotten, about the Biafra War. There were two books, one by Frederick Forsyth, and the other by Renata Adler, that reported accurately on the conflict, though neither author recognized the central significance of Islam (that was understandable and forgivable then, as it would not be today). Many Nigerians in the West are Christians, predominantly Ibo. Many of them, if they are old enough, remember the Biafra War, and remember how Egyptian pilots, flying Migs, strafed helpless Ibo villages again and again, killing tens of thousands. There was no military aid from the West, save from Israel. And the only African country that forthrightly recognized Biafra from the beginning was Ghana.

What would happen today, if the kind of massacres that took place against the Christians in 1966 and 1967, which led to the declaration of Biafran independence, took place again? Would the West again abandon the Christians and allow the Muslim Arabs to help their fellow Muslims in northern Nigeria?

What do you think?

I think it is renewing itself...

"What would happen today, if the kind of massacres that took place against the Christians in 1966 and 1967, ... took place again? Would the West again abandon the Christians and allow the Muslim Arabs to help their fellow Muslims in northern Nigeria?"

The answer is that the same thing has been taking place again -- in the Sudan for the last several years -- and the West has done virtually nothing again.

"We are ready to train your people in weapons, and give you whatever support we can in men, arms and munitions to enable you to defend our people in Nigeria," the statement by al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) said.
......................

"*Defend* our people". No matter that Muslims *started* the conflict with church burnings. Whenever some Taqiyya artist or Muslim apologist natters on about how only *defensive* Jihad is allowed, remember that "defensive Jihad" can be very offensive, indeed.

Where are those Pan-Africans that used to shout,"Hands off Africa?"
I have doubts about the claims of "Christians" being involved this conflict. Are they Christians,or just non-Muslims?

Hugh: I was a High Schooler when the Biafran War was going on. Now I have Ibo students in the high school where I teach, and have heard rumblings that Round II may be in the offing.

Unbeliever1: Back when the Biafran War exploded into our consciences, there had been a lot of reporting on violence perpetrated against Ibo merchants and other "diaspora" types outside southeastern Nigeria, most of it perpetrated in such northern Nigerian cities as Kano. The Ibo separated largely to gain the protection of their own state. Being mostly Anglicans, Roman Catholics, and various stripes of Pentecostals rather than Mennonites, I wouldn't be surprised if today's Ibo have some understanding of the "just war" doctrine.

When the Biafran War started, I was a very small girl (four years old in 1967).

But we heard about it on the radio (no TV in our household, so I missed the visual horror shots) and I can distinctly remember lying in my little bed, before I went to sleep, earnestly saying prayers for "the starving children of Biafra".

And now at last, some 40+ years later, I have found out exactly what it was all about, and why those children were starving, and being shot at; and I find myself having to stand up and warn people about the Jihad.

Alright Christians! This is a warning, a head's up for you. You need to get yourself ready for this battle, for this war. NO, don't just stand their and pray. Pick up a weapon and fight back, in the name of Jesus Christ. You have the right to defend yourselves against the enemy, those damn radical Islamic Muslims. SO DO SO! Get your weapons, skillets, pitch forks, base ball bats, 2 by 4's, I don't care what it is but defend yourself against that enemy who sole purpose in life if to kill you and your family simply because you are a Christian. Go for it. Trust me, God will give you the strength and the courage to defend what is right.
