Arabic-language paper: Robert Spencer, Fox News team up to promote Protestant revival in America

Sometimes the Islamic world's conspiracy paranoia is really entertaining.

This one comes in the context of denying and obfuscating the persecution of Copts in Egypt -- read all about it at the excellent Translating Jihad site.

Fascinating debate, what is the religion of peace? Islam or Christianity? Jay Smith takes on the muslims on Hyde Park, Speaker’s Corner in London, every Sunday.

Thanks for giving me a good laugh, Robert.

I've heard some windies in my time.

It'd be even funnier if those wing nuts didn't take these paranoid conspiracies seriosely and act on them.

Thanks for the story and the link Robert. At least they spelled your name right. BTW, do you know how your name is spelled in Arabic? It might be intersting to Google it.

Yup, the usual Arab report - a conspiracy is behind everything. Except behind the actions of Arabs - the only ones above any conspiracy.

The only surprising thing is that they didn't conclude that Robert Spencer is a Zionist Jew on the payroll of Mossad, and a part of the council of the elders of Zion.

So is Rupert Murdoch's partner at Fox, Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, also a Zionist lackey now??

I'm not sure if these characters will show up, but Robert's name in Arabic is usually spelled روبرت سبنسر. You might see some variation though, since Arabic has no short vowels. Yeah, I thought it was a pretty funny story, except for the truly sad situation of Copts in Egypt, which this story only serves to dismiss and obfuscate.

You've been "accused" of being Jewish; now you are being "accused" of being Protestant. What's next? Cargo cultist?

Unfortunately... when you ask Muslims about something, they do not give answers but they become irritated saying that you attack them. It is a personal experience.

In fact it is not a matter of dialogue between religious beliefs. It is a matter of sanity's trying to approach a 'sanctified' lack of coherence. So the problem is not easy. Here we are before a wave of violence against simple sane thinking.

It seems that we are in the very verge of a tremendous purification which will change the whole history... Let hope that it will be in the less violent way. Despite all those so ill omens.

Re: The Islamic world's "conspiracy paranoia"

Everyone is always against them because they're the "superior peoples," doncha know? As Mo brainwashed his minions.

It's gotta be tough wearing that superiority mantle all the time. A heavy burden. That's why they have to mass-murder people and over-populate the planet - to show how superior they are. Poor Muslims, the eternal victims. Whaaaaah! Oh Boo-Hoo!

Go Robert! Give us that old-time religion!

Another thought: I've read that the Saudis have purchased a major share in the Fox network. So they're supporting a Protestant revival?

Hey, Robert are you and FOX planning this as an OL' TIME TENT revival or what???

If it is a tent revival...WOOOOHOOO!! Love those things and what about holding a "dinner on the ground" too!!

I can bring the PULLED PORK BAR B QUE and some pimento cheese sandwichs.

Robert, I thought you were a Catholic?

I guess the jihad can't tell the difference.....we're all just kuffars to them.

So, Darth Batman is a Baptist, now, is he...hmmm. Will you become the hub of all things pertaining to chicktracts?

Anti-jihadist, did you know we Elders of Zion actually manipulate the universe from a secret chamber beneath the Ka'abah in Mecca. It's the perrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect cover. :)

Anyway, I always knew Robert was a fellow Elder. :)

Things are changing, though. Last year I gave up control of the banking system in Utah so I could spend more time manipulating the pornography cartel. :)

Keep up the good fight!

One of the truly odd things here is that the Muslim persecution of Copts in Egypt is being presented as a "Zionist" falsehood. Why?

Only because, in this context, it seems to be an embarrassment to Muslims. If the persecution were presented as a positive thing—along the lines of 'heroic Muslims prevent underhanded cross-worshippers from building an illegal church, several christians killed'—there would be no problem at all.

AM, thanks. Wow. Entering Robert's name in Arabic وبرت سبنسر into the Google search box produced a ton of hits to Arabic sites. You are a popular man over there, Robert.

It reminds me of a story I once heard:

Russia, 1922--somewhere in the newly minted Gulag:

Andrei Petrovich Volnikov, a former White officer and rabid anti-Semite, somehow befriends Shmuel Davidovich Minsky, an erstwhile Jewish history student condemned for being a combination Zionist and speculator (shared misery makes strange companions).

"Tell me, Shmuel, since you are a learned man and a Zhid--oops, a Jew--is it true that there is a Jewish conspiracy to put the world under Jewish rule?'

"Indeed there is, Andrei Petrovich," Shmuel replies gravely. "There is a very ancient international Jewish cabal that hatched a plot to put the world under a Jewish king. It was hatched while the Temple was still standing, and under its very walls."

"Aha!" Says Andrei. "I knew it was the Freemasons! They always talk about their antiquity..."

"C'mon, Andrei Petrovich," Shmuel interrupts. "The Freemasons are pikers compared to the conspiracy I have in mind. And, by the way, if we ever get out of here, I promise I won't tell your priest that you've dabbled in masonic lore."

Andrei Petrovich turns red as a beet when one of his secret unorthodoxies is discovered. But he changes the subject.

"Then perhaps this conspiracy is the Reds themselves. Look at Trotsky, Zinoviev..." Andrei thinks aloud.

"No, it is not. The Bolsheviks are a new-minted party, and as Trotsky's own father said, 'Trotsky makes a revolution, and Bronshtein gets it in the neck.' I'm talking about an ANCIENT Jewish conspiracy, Andrei," says Shmuel. "Why, this conspiracy to put the world under a Jewish king is described in the New Testament itself!"

Andrei, who fancied himself knowledgeable about the New Testament is shocked. "Where does the New Testament mention it?"

"Acts Chapter 2," comes Shmuel's reply. "This conspiracy is Christianity itself."

Fox News also played a chief role in promoting the Iraq invasion of 2003, and often hosts guests on its programs who write books which attack Islam, considering them "experts" on Islam, such as Daniel Pipes, Steve Emerson, and Robert Spencer, as it attempts to promote a wave of Protestant revival in the United States.

That comes as news to me, as I was always under the impression that Daniel Pipes is Jewish and that Robert Spencer is devout Catholic, with neither Jews or Catholics being particularly interested in spreading Protestant fundamentalism. As for Emerson, I have no idea what his religious affiliations are, but I haven't seen him agitating for any sort of religious movement.
