Five U.S. jihadis jailed in Pakistan: "Since our arrest, the U.S.A., F.B.I., and Pakistani police have tortured us"

Alleging torture when no torture has taken place is a move straight out of the Al-Qaeda playbook. When Al-Qaeda operatives are jailed, they are told to claim that they have been tortured. From the Al-Qaeda playbook:

1. At the beginning of the trial, once more the brothers must insist on proving that torture was inflicted on them by State Security [investigators ]before the judge.

2. Complain [to the court] of mistreatment while in prison.

3. Make arrangements for the brother 's defense with the attorney, whether he was retained by the brother 's family or court-appointed.

4. The brother has to do his best to know the names of the state security officers, who participated in his torture and mention their names to the judge.[These names may be obtained from brothers who had to deal with those officers in previous cases.]...

6. During the trial, the court has to be notified of any mistreatment of the brothers inside the prison.

This game has been played the world over, but nowhere has it achieved more success than in the demonization of American personnel at Guantanamo Bay. Even the President of the United States has lent the prestige of his office to this baseless smear.

"Pakistan: Note From 5 American Muslims in Custody Claims Torture," by Waqar Gilani for the Associated Press, February 3:

Five American Muslims in custody in Sargodha threw a handwritten note to reporters from a police vehicle while on their way to a court hearing on Tuesday, stating: "Since our arrest, the U.S.A., F.B.I., and Pakistani police have tortured us," according to their representative, Khalid Khawaja. A Pakistani relative of one of the men also claimed that the police had threatened to give them electric shocks. A spokesman for the American Embassy in Islamabad, Richard W. Snelsire, said that the United States "categorically rejects those allegations."...

Regimes like Pakistan's are likely to be, at most, only slightly embarrassed by such allegations.

So who is the audience for this sort of thing? Mostly two very disparate groups, I believe. The first are fellow Jihadists and their supporters, who will be incensed at the thought that a fellow Mujihideen is being tortured by "Infidels and apostates".

But the other audience are those journalists, and civil rights organizations, and "peace activists" and such in the West. At minimum they can hope to embarrass the United States among people around the world—including Americans—who will be all too quick to believe that the US government is engaged in torture.

But there is also a more concrete ploy here than merely embarrassing and discrediting the US. If enough credulous people take these claims seriously, there might well be a movement to bring these "Americans" back to the US for trial, or even to have all charges against them dropped because of their supposed harsh treatment and torture while in custody in Pakistan.

I'll make the same suggestion as I did a while back. Have the allegations thoroughly investigated by an independent group and once it's ascertained that there has been no torture have that fact documented, THEN have them tortured.

Simple solution.

Shucks, can't I torture them too? I feel left out.

Big deal so you were tortured.. these people had all their rights stepped on?? boo hoo...as far as I'm concerned you gave up all your rights when you made the decision to become a terrorist..here's a quarter..call sombody that gives a s##t..

A terrorist is not part of any army..so therefore the geneva convention does not apply. Torture should be an acceptable practice if it is in the best interest of global security. I'm sure the jihadis would torture someone just the same if aprehended by them. so give it a rest..

hmmmmm, bunch o whiners.

Things were just going swimmingly when they were going to torture civilians/infidels with THEIR kind of jihad. Now the proverbial shoe is on the other foot and the poor babies don't like it.

My heart bleeds. /end sarc

And this is supposed to concern me HOW?

Some baseless note thrown to a someone in a crowd does not constitute proof by any strech of the imagination.

And if it did. SO WHAT. 5 little Jihad Johnies got less than what they have coming.

If it is SOP in the AQ playbook always to claim torture has been used, then the only reasonable counterstrategy is to use extreme measures in all cases. If someone could just convince Obama ;-)

People tortured in Muslim jails are rarely able to talk...

Just the point made by inspector Calahan:

Quote:
[after a battered crook has accused Harry of beating him]
Chief: Have you been following that man?
Harry Callahan: Yeah, Ive been following him on my own time. And anybody can tell I didnt do that to him.
Chief: How?
Harry Callahan: Cause he looks too damn good, thats how!
(Movie: Dirty Harry (1971)

- And they are not able to write on toilet paper because their fingers are broken and they have to shit in their pants.

"Since our arrest, the U.S.A., F.B.I., and Pakistani police have tortured us".

Straight out of the al Qaeda manual.

Boo f****** hoo. You should have been gunned down on the spot, pronto.

I don't care what happens to these stupid little jihadists; they can rot in a Pakistani dungeon for all I care. The more uncomfortable they are, the better. It's typical that they are whining to elicit sympathy now, when just a short while ago they were intrepid holy warriors, ready to die for allah. Their mission should be fulfilled---they should die for allah.

Hmm- how can the FBI, the USA, and the pakistani police have all tortured them- I wouldn't rule out torture by the Pakistani authorities( or likely connivance by the US- pace "Rendition" with Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon) but if there's one thing the FBI DOESN'T do( even with Al Qaeda terrorists) is torture them!

Terry

Were these Clowns expecting a pat on the back after getting caught? All those heavenly hopes did not go up in smoke.

These "citizens" went to Pakistan to fight their government and kill their fellow Americans. This is the definition treason, period.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

It's time an example was made but, unfortunately, we are currently stuck with a "Blame America First" administration. If only we could channel Ronald Reagan back into the White House!

Islamo-fascists such as these have made air travel a torture so I lack any sympathy if they are tortured as well.

The same happened when the UK accepted a little Guantanamo s**t a few months ago. He claimed he had been tortured and the bleeding liberal hearts gave him right of above (even thought he is not British), housing, benefits et al. They lie, Muslims are master liars.

Sorry, should read 'right of abode'...
