The man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing is living with his family in a luxury villa in Libya six months after he was released from jail on compassionate grounds because he had less than three months to live.Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, who is suffering from terminal prostate cancer, no longer receives hospital treatment after ending the course of chemotherapy that he had been given after returning to his homeland last August.
Professor Karol Sikora, the London-based doctor who examined Megrahi and predicted he would be dead by last October, admitted this weekend that the fact the bomber is still alive might be "difficult" for the families of the 270 victims of the attack....
No kidding, really?

How often do Doctors misdiagnose advanced prostrate cancer? What are the odds that someone survives this type of cancer in such an advanced stage? And why wasn't there a second opinion? The Scottish people should demand a thorough investigation.

Several political careers in Scotland (e.g., at least Scottish Justice Minister Kenny MacAskill) should be ended over this.
But, I'm not holding my breath.
These politicians' careers seemed to keep on going even after Megrahi got his hero's welcome in LIbya.
But, hey! Megrahi only killed more civilians than just about any other (Muslim or even non-Muslim) terrorist except the 9/11 criminals and the 1998 Nairobi embassy bombers. (At least I can't think of any others.)
And among Islam's all time top bombers, I believe he's the only one to survive his deed.

Seriousely, what a travesty of justice! The lesson just learned from the Scottish "justice" system is that, indeed, mass murder pays.....if one has the right political and financial connections.

Many, way too many Scot's , supported his release. That is very troubling. Many articles, describing Megrahi as 'a loving father' were published. In fact, most to the Scottish media painted him as a scapegoat. Callers in radio shows were very sympathetic to Megrahi and claimed he is innocent.
I guess that's how the justice system works in Scotland. A rumor of a convicted killer as being innocent, provide legal base for his release. Given of course, he is a muslim.

al-Megrahi could live for years with prostate cancer if he is given the new 'wonder pill' Abiraterone. On trials this drug shrunk tumours in 80% of the men whose cancer had spread throughout their body.

There was a second opinion—and a third opinion, for that matter, Krazy Kafir. Unfortunately, one of the other two 'opinions' was from a *Libyan doctor*. In fact, the entire examination was paid for by the *Libyan government*.
This, from the NYT Review of Books:

"The three doctors—two British and one Libyan—who produced a *revised prognosis* in July were paid by the Libyan government. One of them, the British oncologist Professor Karol Sikora, medical director of CancerPartners UK, a private health care organization, admitted that the period of three months had been suggested by the Libyans. After examining Megrahi in prison and looking at the clinical details "in much greater depth" than previous doctors, Sikora concluded that Megrahi's tumor "was behaving in a very aggressive way, unlike [tumors afflicting] most people with prostate cancer" and that "the three-month deadline seemed about right." The Libyan doctor concurred. The third doctor would only say that Megrahi "had a short time to live." After it became clear that Megrahi could not be excluded from the prisoner transfer agreement, it seems the Scottish and British governments actively encouraged him and his legal team to seek a release on compassionate grounds." Now, Sikora appears to be a reputable oncologist, but the fact that the "revised prognosis" was paid for by the *Libyan government* makes this entirely suspect.
Now, its possible that the Libyans went shopping for British physicians who would agree with their diagnosis, or they might have offered some "compensation"—hard to tell.
In any case, it looks as though the Brits have been had.
Remember a few months ago, when al-Megrahi wandered off from the modest digs he was occupying under his putative "house arrest" in Libya? Now that he's surfaced, I'm sure Gadafy will be right on it...or not.
