CAIRO - A man hurled a suitcase containing a makeshift bomb at Cairo's main downtown synagogue in the early hours Sunday morning, but there were no injuries or damage, police said.According to the police report, a man entered a hotel located on the fourth floor of a building across from the synagogue at around 3 a.m. and as he was checking in, abruptly threw his suitcase out the window.
The case contained four containers of gasoline each attached to a glass bottle of sulfuric acid meant to shatter on impact and ignite the makeshift bomb, said police, who speculated the man may have panicked.
The bag, which also contained clothes, cotton strips, matches and a lighter, fell onto the sidewalk in front of the hotel and briefly caught fire before being extinguished. There were no injuries and no damage to the historic synagogue....
Poor guy. I'm sure he feels humiliated by that mean old synagogue.
It reminds me of the old joke from the Six Day War: What do you do when an Arab throws a grenade at you? You pull the pin out and toss it back.
These guys need to start doing quality assurance tests on all their bombs and suicide belts prior to deploying them. That way, if they fail to detonate, they can remedy the problem and retest...as many times as needed until they verify the thing works.

In an earlier posting, some one mentioned that Mohamet's tomb was not empty. That is probably true but not because Mohamet is there. It is a common belief that he is still in his tomb, but some years ago I read a book published in the early 1800s which quoted from a letter which his wife left upon her death, stating that he could not have ascended to Heaven as his followers claim because she had poisoned him for fulling around with a new woman and that she had personally had buried him under the floor of the kitchen part of the tent where they lived at the time. I have since thought about what
the leaders must had done to cover that letter up from the faithful, since it is common knowledge that he was supposed to have ascended into heaven from the Rock which is in the church located on the Mount. Any one know anything about this and what it means to a force faith group. Also, it should be pointed out that Islam was so unbelievable at first that his people drove him out of Media and he went into another placed to convince people of the faith and turned them into warriors to come back and kill everyone. Sound lie a religion or a cult?
