NY: Elementary schools increase security after knife-carrying Muslim walks in

An update on this story. If you read the comments there, you will see one from a man claiming to be colleague of Abdulrahim Sulaiman, and saying that the incident was a harmless misunderstanding. That may be so, although not all the details of the explanation tally with the charges and the $5,000 bail here; in any case, school officials seem to be taking this incident very seriously indeed, if only as an illustration of what could happen.

"S.Orangetown schools target intruders," by Jane Lerner for LoHud.com, February 1:

PIERMONT -- New security measures are being put in place at all South Orangetown schools after a stranger carrying a knife walked into a district elementary school last week.

The doors to all schools will now be locked when classes are in session, according to a notice sent from Superintendent of Schools Ken Mitchell to all parents.

In addition , anyone coming to the school will have to present photo identification and additional cameras will be installed.

"While we understand the tightened security and reduced access may be inconvenient, it is essential that we take every reasonable measure to ensure that our buildings are secured for the safety of our students and staff," Mitchell wrote. [...]

The most recent took place Jan. 20, when a 23-year-old Connecticut man entered the main lobby of Tappan Zee Elementary School in Piermont.

The man, Abdulrahim Sulaiman, 23, of Bridgeport, was apparently lost and asking for directions, district spokeswoman B.J. Greco said.

Sulaiman was stopped by school officials and escorted outside. He also asked school officials if he could park his car in the parking lot and take a nap, Greco said.

The man left the school grounds, but after officials called police he was spotted at a nearby convenience store and arrested.

Police said Sulaiman was carrying a knife similar to a switchblade at the time of his arrest.

Sulaiman was charged with third-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both misdemeanors.

He is free on $5,000 cash bail and due in court Wednesday.....

The man, Abdulrahim Sulaiman, 23...

Maybe ol' Abdulrahim had just finished a hot session reading the Holy Scripture Hadiths and just couldn't resisit the tempatation any longer.

After all, Willie Sutton said that the reason he robbed banks is because that's where the money is.

Sorry, but we need to do more than the mental exercise of remembering Beslan.

We need to understand they are planning this mayhem with the belief that they get to kill 2 million American children.

Knowing and remembering is not enough. You have to be willing and prepared to act fearlessly.

..................

I wonder what else is going on here, as well. People must, on occasion, enter schools to ask for directions. They are not, as a rule, arrested for it. The bit about wanting to sleep in the parking lot is also pretty strange as well.

Whatever happened, it is clear what the immediate upshot will be, however—more anxiety and inconvenience for Infidels, as even *elementary schools* go into lockdown.

From that article:

". . .He is free on $5,000 cash bail and due in court Wednesday....."

Wednesday . . .February 3, 2010, two days ago . . .and there is not one word about this hearing in the papers. Not one update on the outcome of Abdulrahim Sulaiman's hearing was found anywhere online.

From the article:

"The man, Abdulrahim Sulaiman, 23, of Bridgeport, was apparently lost and asking for directions, district spokeswoman B.J. Greco said."

Sulaiman was stopped by school officials and escorted outside. He also asked school officials if he could park his car in the parking lot and take a nap, Greco said.

A nap?

From an earlier LoHud.com report about this incident:

Trespasser carried knife into Tappan Zee Elementary, police say

"Abdulrahim Sulaiman, 23, of Bridgeport had already entered the main lobby of Tappan Zee Elementary School before 8 a.m. Wednesday, when he was spotted by school officials, police said."

Why would a 23 year old man from Bridgeport CT (a 64 minute drive away to Piermont NY) need a nap in a school parking lot before 8 a.m.?

And what's this about being lost?

"The man, Abdulrahim Sulaiman, 23, of Bridgeport, was apparently lost and asking for directions, district spokeswoman B.J. Greco said."

Interestingly, Abdulrahim Sulaiman was picked up by the police at a nearby convenience store. If you google the school and look at a map, you'll see this school is not the first place anyone would likely stop for directions.

Did district spokewoman B.J. Greco actually interview Abdulrahim Sulaiman personally? None of the three articles mention this spokesperson having contact with the suspect. Her statement is beyond absurd!

NY STATE Unified Court System has absolutely no listing for Abdulrahim Sulaiman.

Perhaps he was looking for a wife. Grade one, or two, preferably.

When this story was first posted I thought it was spooky as hell. Undaunted said "it stinks,"and he was right--it stank then & it still reeks to high heaven.

Reading the post from Haus in defense of Sulaiman leaves too many unanswered questions--questions that, if I were this guy's friend (let alone law enforcement) I would ask him myself.

This is about public safety and the public has a right to know. Will we get some answers? When and from whom?

Yea, George; wasn't it you who said the school was in an area not easy to get to, with access only by way of small bridges?

If so, the setting is perfect for a Beslan-type action.

If we can get past the dumb-ass idea that terrorists just do what they do so they can have their 15 minutes and instead realize that many of them commit their savagery because they're savages and just want the rest of us to die whether anyone's watching on TV or not, then we can see that a school on what amounts to an island is a prime target for those who want to do one up on Beslan.

And that's what they said they will do; make that Beslan barbarism look like a birthday party. Speaking of which, I'm finishing a post at my blog on another exceedingly vulnerable target; those happy places we take our kids for birthday celebrations.

Oh, and by the way: the additional security measures won't stop bad-guys from attacking the school. They'll plan for locked doors and bring the gear to defeat them.

Now doggone it that's just not fair. Aisha took her first man inside on her 9th birthday. That woulda put her in the 3rd or 4th grade.

Could've been exhausted from being up all night reading Hot Hadiths and getting all worked up. Or maybe he was looking to masturbate quickly before returning to his impersonal room at the boarding house.

The Month of February and the Cartoon Riots

February 5, 2006

Protesters in Beirut set the Danish embassy on fire in protest at the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

Tear gas was fired in an attempt to keep the thousands of people outside the building at bay. Jim Muir reports from Beirut.

Nothing to see here, People....Move along.

Prepare yourself, don't let the Muslims sucker punch you! Be fierce and read up on the total history of Islam, you will be shocked. If they attempt to tell you the Sword is not their aim then they are just lying as usual.

Definitely pathological liars.

Looking for 9 year olds to love in all the wrong places.

More like murder in his heart. Not like man to man, or even beating up women, but someone he thought he could beat. He would not be viewed as a terrorist, but as a misunderstander, or sick man.

They should have restrained him, then taken him and tossed him to the pigs. Let him keep his knife in the pigpen. Let him slash away in there. He would have thought they were Jews and Christians anyway, like they teach in Fitna's Islamic school.

Great man, attempting to kill children. (But they were not going to grow up as Muslims, I suppose, so they are fair game)

Lost? Made a wrong turn in Virginia a week before, I suppose, and ended up in upstate New York. I would not trust this "mo"ron, or the situation, regardless of what the evidence was or is. I am also sure we will now hear mobs of mozoids screaming about racial profiling and hate-based prosecution. I am still waiting for some of my politically correct friends and colleagues to wake up and smell the excrement.

In military circles, what this man did we call probing. Before trying to harm any child at this school, this muslim wanted to see what level of defences were set up here. Unfortuantely for this muslim, he's not a very good planner. Now he wont be able to kill any infidels here because of his poor operational planning. Area schools need to know of these events and act accordingly.
