Obama's new OIC envoy defended top jihadist -- and someone has covered up the evidence

Sami al-Arian is the former Florida professor who turned out to be a leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and who waged an immensely successful propaganda campaign charging that his prosecution was a manifestation of "Islamophobia" -- until he pled guilty, that is. And Rashad Hussain was part of that campaign, although someone has tried to cover up that fact. "Obama's New OIC Envoy Defended Activist Who Aided Terrorist Group," by Patrick Goodenough for CNS News, February 15:

(CNSNews.com) - President Obama's newly appointed envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference was quoted in 2004 as saying an American who aided a Palestinian terrorist group was the victim of "politically motivated persecutions" who was being used "to squash dissent."

Rashad Hussain was quoted as telling a Muslim students' event in Chicago that if U.S. Muslims did not speak out against the injustices taking place in America, then everyone's rights would be in jeopardy.

The Washington Report on Middle East Affairs (WRMEA) cited Hussain as making the remarks in connection with Sami al-Arian, a university professor and activist sentenced in 2006 to more than four years in prison (including time already spent in custody) after he had pleaded guilty to conspiring to aid the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).

The U.S. government designated the PIJ as a foreign terrorist organization in 1997, and in 2003, then Attorney-General John Ashcroft described it as "one of the most violent terrorist organizations in the world."

Palestinian Islamic Jihad has killed more than 100 Israelis in suicide bombings and other attacks. Its victims include American citizens Alisa Flatow, a 20-year-old New Jersey college student killed in a 1995 suicide bombing in Gaza, and 16-year-old Shoshana Ben-Ishai, shot dead in a bus in Jerusalem in 2001.

In sentencing al-Arian, Judge James Moody of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida described him as a "leader of the PIJ" and a "master manipulator."

Al-Arian remains under home detention in Virginia pending contempt of court charges relating to his refusal to testify in an unrelated case involving an Islamic think tank. Sympathizers view him as a victim of post-9/11 law enforcement zeal and anti-Muslim prejudice. (The WRMEA article described him as "an innocent man targeted for free-speech activities, whose rights were stripped thanks in part to the PATRIOT Act.")

Among those sympathizers, evidently, was Rashad Hussain, who at the time of the cited remarks was a Yale Law School student and an editor, from 2003-2005, of the Yale Law Journal. He went on to serve as a Department of Justice trial attorney and in January 2009 was appointed White House deputy associate counsel.

On Saturday, Obama named the Texas-born, 31-year-old Indian-American as his envoy to the OIC, the 57-member bloc of Islamic states. The appointment is in line with the president's goal, expressed in his speech in Cairo last June, to reach out to the Islamic world.

Obama made the announcement in a video address at a U.S.-Islamic World Forum meeting in Qatar, which Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Hussain attended over the weekend.

"Rashad has played a key role in developing the partnerships I called for in Cairo," Obama told the gathering in the video message. "And as a hafiz of the Koran, he is a respected member of the American Muslim community, and I thank him for carrying forward this important work." (A hafiz is someone who has memorized the Islamic text.)

And someone is whitewashing the record:

Article edited

Around three years after the WRMEA article quoting Hussain first appeared, it was edited to remove all references to him.

A copy of the original 2004 article, retrieved via the Nexis news database, includes the following sentences:

Al-Arian's situation is one of many "politically motivated persecutions," claimed Rashad Hussain, a Yale law student. Such persecution, he stated, must be fought through hope, faith, and the Muslim vote (...) Along with many others, said Yale's Hussain, Dr. Sami Al-Arian has been "used politically to squash dissent." The Muslim community must speak out against the injustices taking place in America, he emphasized. Otherwise, everyone's rights will be in jeopardy.

But in the version of the same story currently available on the WRMEA Web site those sentences - and only those sentences - have disappeared. An Internet archive search indicates that the edits were made sometime after October 2007.

Contacted by email on Sunday, the writer of the original article expressed surprise but said she no longer worked at WRMEA and could not explain the edit. Queries sent to WRMEA editors brought no response. They were asked whether either Hussain, or anyone else, had asked for the archived story to be altered...

This has to be followed up. It's very important. And Rashad Hussein's role in the fabricating of that utterly misleading and dangerous Cairo speech should not be overlooked, nor the mistake that is made by those who are impressed with certain degrees (Harvard, Yale) and a plausible outward sheen, and are naive about Islam, and about all the ways that Islam can be cleverly misrepresented, not least by the suave likes of Rashad Hussein, who went to school with the people he is trying, and apparently does, to some extent, fool, and who are not nearly as well-prepared in this area, the area of Islam, and of taqiyya, and kitman, as they think they are because, well because they have all done so well and done all the right things since school. It's the Triumph of Fake Merit, the Greater Fraternity of the All-The-Right-Things C.V.

And Obama still does not understand, one suspects, what was so wildly wrong with that speech, because he seems to think that non-Muslims are not paying attention to what he says about Islam, in his vain attempt to "win Muslim hearts and minds" by, among other intolerable errors, still refusing to learn about the texts and tenets of Islam, relying instead on his "sense of things" based on being in then-secular Indonesia, in its most secular city, Jakarta, in a school to which both Muslim and Christian children were admitted (which means the Muslim parents were the most relaxed about non-Muslims), between the ages of 6 to 9, and his vague memories of his father, a nominal Muslim (at a time when black Africans often practiced an easygoing, syncretistic, and inauthentic form of the Total Belief-System) and, finally, what he learned, or thought he learned, about the Muslim world from that former PLO propagandist, the plausible, smiling, native-American-in-speech Rashid Khalidi.

The Bush Administration did not understand Islam, and the consequence was the squandering of men, money, materiel, and morale in the folly of Iraq. The Obama Administration refuses, in another way, to understand, or even to make the attempt to understand, Islam, and the consequence is the squandering of men, money, materiel, and morale in the folly of Aghanistan, and Pakistan, and here at home, where the Administration, in wooing Muslims, has so alarmed and antagonized even many who might otherwise support it on some other issues, but will not and cannot. The Obama Administration will be brought down if it cannot begin to grasp, and show it grasps, the nature of Islam. Some will find its downfall pleasing, others will be sorry at its blindness about Islam, its refusal to see things aright. If it saw things aright, it would not engage in the expensive and damaging ventures it is now engaged in, but would more cleverly and ruthlessly exploit fissures within the Camp of Islam, would stop trying to find a "solution" -- there is none -- to the Muslim Ararb Jihad, which has no end, against Israel (and can only be handled if pressure on Israel ceases, so that it can retain the territory it needs to survive, and for Deterrence to work for Israel (and Arab leaders can invoke Darura, or Necessity, for their failure to make open warfare_, just as Deterrence worked for the right side, the West, during the Cold War.

We now have to worry about several "English-speaking" Muslim jihadists that trained with the knicker-bomber in Yemen. And thanks to multiculturalism and open borders these would-be mujahideen can easily enter this country to carryout their jihad.

"trained with the knicker-bomber in Yemen" -- from the post just above

This gives new meaning to the phrase "Naughty Knickers."

Shades of "1984".

I think that we have to admit that George Orwell was the prophet of his time. When the truth is inconvenient, dictators simply re-write history. Down the "memory hole" go the facts and the grand deception of the jihad continues.

Who did this?

Did someone in this administration remove the "offending sentences"?

Where is Woodward and Bernstein?

ABC, NBC, CBS?

New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angelos Times?

Or has the journalism ethic gone down the "memory hole" as well?

The appointment of somebody naïve enough to believe that Sami Al-Arian was innocent is troubling. At best, Hussain will be easily duped by his new OIC hosts. Hussain will also defend suspicious OIC activities the same way he defended Al-Arian.

What marching orders will Obama give to Rashad Hussain? Does Rashad Hussain have, and support the concerns of the American People as he goes to entertain our position in the OIC's 56 Muslim Countries? Will he be an appeaser or will he represent Islamic values (barely one percent of the US is Muslim). Should we be concerned about his positions on sharia law? What will he reflect to the OIC when it comes to their determination to crush any criticism of Religion in th UN and anywhere else? Will he stand firm on the US Constitutions First Amendment? Will he speak out on womens rights in the world when the opportunity avails itself? What role does an envoy of America play in the OIC if any anyway?

tanstaafl, you beat me to it! Down the memory hole indeed, Winston.

The appointment of somebody naïve enough to believe that Sami Al-Arian was innocent is troubling." -- from a posting above

"Naive" is not the word. The Counsel and Deputy Counsel to the President may have been "naive" in appointing Rashad Hussain without grasping the nature of his sly apologetics, Obama may still be "naive" about Islam, as one would like to think, for the alternative explanation is that he remains wilfuly ignorant, determined to see, hear, speak no evil of Islam, and not only that, but to help, and even appoint, Muslim apologists in their campaign to mislead the American public.

But many members of that public have come to recognize, and no longer are willing to tolerate, the foolish remarks on Islam, those by Bush, and those by Obama both. They can read the texts, they can grasp the essential tenets, they can consult the testimony of Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Wafa Sultan, Ibn Warraq, and many other ex-Muslims who tell the truth just the way, a half-century ago, defectors from the KGB told the truth about what was going on in Soviet Russia.

And one reason members of the public are engaged in a vast enterprise of autodidacticism is that they have too often been subject to displays, by Muslim spokesmen, of sly taqiyya-and-tu-quoque, and they are confronted, each day, with that day's Jihad News from around the world -- southern Thailand, central Nigeria, southern Philippines, southern Sudan, Madrid, London, Milan, Amsterdam, Moscow, Beslan - a thousand different non-Muslim targets, but always the terrorists are Muslims who want to terrify, as the Qur'an instructs them, the Infidels and cause them to submit, or submit even more, and faster.

That daily fresh evidence of Muslim mistreatment of non-Muslims (Christians, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, tutti quanti) is too widespread, too incessant, for it any longer to be ignored. Those who keep wanting to concentrate only on this or that aspect of the world-wide Jihad, carefully unrecognized or unnamed -- say, the Arab war (Jihad) against Israel, presented as a conflict between "two peoples" (the local Arabs having been carefully renamed the "Palestinian people" for propaganda purposes, and so far the invention has paid off, but as people learn more about Islam, the very idea seems comical, and its true propagandistic origins become suddenly transparent). Or there is focus, manic focus, on Iraq, or on Afghanistan. But the problem is world-wide,and for the Infidel West, the most important theatre right now is Western Europe, where deployment of the Money Weapon, campaigns of Da'wa, and demographic conquest are undermining the advanced West from within, and the Muslim presence, and the power of those who would appease them, both have to be prevented from further increasing and, more than that, diminished for the sake of civilisastional coherence and survival.

Nor are members of the public any longer going to overlook the many news reports -- of which only a fraction are published in the West -- about Muslims mistreating non-Muslims in the countries where they can do so openly (Dar al-Islam), and even in non-Muslim lands, where Muslim immigrants or their children, who may possesss citizenship but are not loyal to the Infidel nation-state and cannot possibly be, to the extent that they are loyal to Islam, aggressively demand changes in the legal and political institutions (including the right of free speech), and social arrangements, that are the fruit of centuries of development in the advanced, non-Muslim West.

Bush was a fool of one kind on Islam. Obama has shown himself so far to be a fool of another kind. We deserve better.

The West's governments: still a zone of easy infiltration for jihadists, jihadist supporters, Muslim Brotherhood, etc.

I notice that in my posting above I spelled "Hussain" as "Hussein."

In my own defense, I'd like to note -- and many reading this will sympathize, I suspect -- that it's hard, with so many variant spellings of Muslim names -- such as Mohammed (Muhammad, Mohamed, Mohammed, Ahmad, Ahmed, Ahmet) and others too, such as Hussain (Hussein, Husain, Husein, Husayn) to keep straight the particular spelling of that particular “Muhammad” or “Hussain.”

I say tomato, and you say tomato. You spelled it Hussain, and I spelled it, in this case erroneously, Hussein.

Whatever we decide about that, dear Obama Administration, let's call this whole appointment off.

Meanwhile, by way of recompense, listen to Fred here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJz7bIl0kRw

Now watch Fred and Ginger here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dskTypuEXoM&feature=related

Now take a pop quiz. Think of the song, sung by Fred, and the roller-skating scene with Fred and Gioner. List a dozen things about both that violate what Islam inculcates, or what the attitudes and atmospherics of Islam demand. Tell us, or tell yourself, all the ways in which that song, and that scene, and that movie, could never for one minute have been produced in a land where Muslims rule. And do the same, the next time you listen to music, or visit an art museum, or read about the latest developments in neuroscience, or the study of the origins of life, or elementary particle physics. Keep a list of “My Non-Muslim Day” and see what things you do routinely, or do not do yourself but see others do and think nothing of it, that would not be allowed under Islam. That should prove instructive. It’s an exercise that those who did not perform due diligence when they hired Rashad Hussain, or did not understand what, as a Believer, he was all about and the ways in which he has chosen to pretend to reconcile what he knows – he’s a hafiz, for god’s sake, he’ s memorized the whole Qur’an – is in the end impossible to reconcile.

Why all the fuss about young Rashad here? All the indicators were there when Barack first presented himself: Launched his political career in the living room of two convicted terrorists, sat in a sleazy church for 20 yrs listening to the seditious preachings about black liberation theology, saw the same preacher help Lousi Farrakhan glad-hand Moammer Gadaffi in Tripoli and raised nary a peep.

*** 89:5 ***

Once installed by the media as Prez, first we had a self-proclaimed Commie who endorsed the notion that evil white men staged the 9/11 attacks sent up as our Green Czar, then an Education Czar who preached man-boy love to high school boys, a Homeland Security Director primarily worried about returning veterans, and similar ilk. And we had Barack himseslf profusesly apologizing to all Moslems everywhere for America, for what we did to Islam and how we've lost our moral compass, right before he helped the UAW publicly steal billions in cash from the investors and creditors with stakes in GM and Chrysler. All good innovative progressive stuff.

*** 92:8 ***

Frankly, looking at that backdrop, appointing a Moslem who denounced as a persecutiona a federal case against a Jihad war terror financier seems pretty mundane to me. This oughta be routine for us now. The boys over at the OIC will love him.

Sorry about that, the work web browser is acting funny.

Muslim now make up more than 4% of usa population moveing closer to 5% of the population. There now more than 12 million muslim in america today. We now have than Islamist sunday school to avoid any future teenager being trick into become christian.

Setting the record straight, there are no more than 3 million Muslims in America, 2 million of whom are members of the Nation of Islam. That means that, even if we were to count those unorthodox Muslims (see their acceptance of music at meetings, for example), who offer a black-power-or-empowerment-take-your-pick variant, as Muslims, that would still be 1% of the population. And that was before we all began to pay attention to Islam, not attention in the sense that we are impressed and wish to convert, but that we have learned enough to become permanently alarmed, about the ideology of Islam, and the way its adherents think, and their methods, examples of which can be recorded, and then studied, analysed, exposed to public view, by way of immunizing more and more of the public. In the meantime, Muslims in this country, exposed to the mental and other freedoms that the non-Muslim West offers, may -- or the most intelligent may, find their way to jettisoning Islam, as Ayaan Hirsi Ali did in the Netherlands, or Ibn Warraq in Great Britain, or many others, who had always secretly harbored their doubts, but until they got to the free West were afraid of expressing them.

If there were am OCC(Organization of Christians conference), does anyone think Obama would appoint an envoy to it? Most likely he would claim that such an appointment would bve a violation of the principle of the separation of church and state. Besides it might be offensive to the Muslim peoples of the world.
The American people should be outraged by this appointment, but then, when a people can't identify their oun country on a world map, how can you expect them to understand what an obomination this appointment is?

Muslim population in the U.S. is not accurately known. However, there are several estimates by various orgainizations ranging from 1 to 7 million. Since the higher numbers usually come from Muslim groups, there is legitimate reason to doubt their objectivity.

The only reference I could find to "12 million" comes from a Pakistani newspaper, which could hardly be expected to have done a scientifically valid study of the subject. Plus this estimate was done in 1998 when there could not have been anywhere near that many.

As for your statement: "We now have than Islamist sunday school to avoid any future teenager being trick into become christian."

I think we should worry more about teenagers being tricked into becoming Muslim. The detrimental effect of those types of conversions FAR outstrip any "downside" of someone becoming Christian as is demonstrated by ample reports of what these new Muslims are taught and what horrible crimes they come to believe are what the religion tells them they must do.

Moslems in this country are NOT trusted BY A VAST MAJORITY OF AMERICANS. WE do not fear you moslems, we KNOW what violence and hate you advocate.

Just as the Coptics of Egypt and the Christians of Iraq KNOW YOU, a majority of Americans know what you moslems stand for!

BY YOUR WORKS WE KNOW YOU!!

We think any person who is a moslem as sadly IGNORANT because they follow a PEDOPHILE, MURDEROUS, LIAR, RAPIST, and INSANE MAN who called himself a prophet... a self professed prophet... the height of the MOCKERY of GOD!!

And NO, you do NOT know Jesus the Christ and you moslems do not honor the Christ because YOU do know HIM, as the SON OF GOD.

So do not lie about believing in JESUS the Christ!

When you recite the Nicene Creed and mean it, you will Honor and believe in the Christ and not a moment before.

We will pray that your poor deluded mind is healed and you see the TRUE CHRIST. Not that "mock christ" you moslems talk about.

Oh by the way, I have read the true HOLY BOOK, the Bible and you guys LOSE!

A moslem named Hussain or a Hussein, by any spelling is still deluded by the false prophet.

You are wonderful. I always LOVE the information you impart and feel blessed to be able to read it.

Hugh, THANK YOU for all your work!!

Our beloved President Hussein (PBUH) has a bottomless pit of these America-haters. "Mr. Nice Guy" has some rough playmates; Bill Ayers, The "Rev." Jeremiah Wright, Van Jones, ACORN, and on & on. No surprise this guy, then.

But...just what is the "Organization of the islamic Conference?" Do they issue fartwas? (typo there--but thinking about it, they probably "issue" LOTS of those)
Seriously, what do they do? And what are we (USA) doing there? And what is an "islamic-US World Forum meeting?" Is that part of our "outreach" to the muslim world? Our tax-dollars at work!

Looks like just another example of wrong thinking from our Community Organizer-in-Chief. With all these muslims in one place we should be thinking about how we could "reach out" to them with a nicely-placed cruise missile--now THAT would be our tax-dollars at work!

Contrast between Mohammed and the Lord Jesus Christ

Mohammed was the prophet of war; Christ is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6-7).

Mohammed's disciples killed for the faith; Christ's disciples were killed for their faith (Acts 12:2; 2 Tim. 4:7).

Mohammed promoted persecution against the "infidels"; Christ forgave and converted the chief persecutor (1 Tim. 1:13-15).

Mohammed was the taker of life; Christ is the giver of life (John 10:27-28).

Mohammed and his fellow warriors murdered thousands; Christ murdered none but saved many (compare John 12:48).

Mohammed's method was COMPULSION; Christ's aim was voluntary CONVERSION (Acts 3:19).

Mohammed practiced FORCE; Christ preached FAITH (John 6:29,35).

Mohammed was a WARRIOR; Christ is a DELIVERER (Col. 1:13; 1 Thess.1:10).

Mohammed conquered his enemies with the sword; Christ conquered his enemies with another kind of sword, the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God (Heb. 4:12; Acts 2:37).

Mohammed said to the masses, "Convert or die!"; Christ said, "Believe and live!" (John 6:47; 11:25-26).

Mohammed was swift to shed blood (Rom. 3:15-17); Christ shed His own blood for the salvation of many (Eph. 1:7).

Mohammed preached "Death to the infidels!"; Christ prayed "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34).

Mohammed declared a holy war (Jihad) against infidels; Christ achieved a holy victory on Calvary's cross (Col. 2:14-15) and His followers share in that victory (John 16:33).

Mohammed constrained people by conquest; Christ constrained people by love (2 Cor. 5:14).

Modern terrorists derive their inspiration from Mohammed and carry out their despicable atrocities in the name of his god Allah; Christians derive their inspiration from the One who said, "Blessed are the peacemakers" (Matthew 5:9).

Some modern day disciples of Mohammed responded to the terrorist attacks by cheering in the streets; modern day disciples of Christ are deeply grieved at past atrocities carried out by those who were "Christians" in name only (the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, etc.).

Many Muslims are peaceful and peace-loving because they do not strictly follow the teachings of their founder; many Christians are peaceful and peace-loving because they do strictly follow the teachings of their Founder (Rom. 12:17-21).

Mohammed called upon his servants to fight; Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world; if My kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight . . .but now is My kingdom not from here" (John 18:36)

Mohammed ordered death to the Jews (see A.Guillaume, The Life of Muhammad, Oxford University Press [1975], p. 369); Christ ordered that the gospel be preached "to the Jew first" (Rom. 1:16).

The Koran says, "Fight in the cause of Allah" (Qu'ran 2.244); the Bible says, "we wrestle not against flesh and blood" and "the weapons of our warfare are not carnal" (Eph. 6:12; 2 Cor. 10:4).

The Koran says, "Fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them" (Qu'ran 9.5); Christ said, "Preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).

The Koran says, "I will inspire terror into the hearts of unbelievers" (Qu'ran 8.12); God inspires His terror (fear, reverential awe) into the hearts of believers (Isaiah 8:13).

The Koran (Qu'ran) is a terrorist manual which condones fighting, conflict, terror, slaughter, and genocide against those who do not accept Islam; the Bible is a missionary manual to spread the gospel of peace to all the world (Rom. 10:15).

Mohammed's Mission was to conquer the world for Allah; Christ's mission was to conquer sin's penalty and power by substitutionary atonement (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Pet. 3:18).

Mohammed considered Christ a good prophet; Christ pronounced Mohammed to be a false prophet (John 10:10; Matt. 24:11).

Mohammed claimed that there was but one God, Allah; Christ claimed that He Himself was God (John 10:30-31; John 8:58-59; John 5:18; John 14:9).

Mohammed's Tomb: OCCUPIED!
Christ's tomb: EMPTY!

American Delight, that's putting the *best possible interpretation* on this situation. If Rashad Hussain is simply naïve, there is a chance that he will either eventually wise up at some point, or will at lest stick at some of the more obviously ugly stuff proffered by the OIC.

There is also the much darker—and sadly, I think much more likely—chance that Hussain understands that Al-Arian was involved with funding Jihad terrorism, and wanted to defend him anyway.

Most disturbing—and troubling as to the sorts of things he is likely to back at the OIC—and falsely back, moreover, *in the name of the United States*.

I think the people of the West are coming to the conclusion that islam is a murderous death cult.

With every single arrest of an islamic terrorist around the world, the SMART people of the West conclude that moslems ARE ONLY DOING WHAT THEIR "RELIGION " requires and are certainly NOT interested in seeing islam in control of their future.

THE TRUTH IS COMING TO THE FOREFRONT!!

Islam is shooting itself in the foot with EVERY single wicked-false prophet commanded act of violence from the koran.

In the West, It IS fast becoming: "I DESPISE ISLAM and I do not want ANY of its violent believers anyplace near me" not "islamaphobia".

I did just that, Hugh, in a posting in 2006. This was not long after some teen-age boys had been gunned down in Somalia for the un-Islamic "crime" of watching the World Cup.

I spent a very ordinary day, doing pleasant, commonplace things—almost all of which would be banned under Islam and Shari'ah:

If the FBI is summoned to investigate this apparent cover up, perhaps they should bring in Special Agent Gamal Abdel-Hafiz. Last I heard, after he refused to wear a wire when meeting with Prof. Sami al-Arian and blew an imoprtant terrorism case, he was rewarded with a promotion to a cushy job at the FBI office in Arabia, Riyadh I think.

*** Bukhari Vol 6 Bk 60 Nbr 662 ***

As a Moslem, Special Agent Abdel-Hafiz will know how to handle the suspicions about Rashad in a fair and quiet way. So let him run the investigation.

**** Bukhari Vol 2 Bk 24 Nbr 555 ***

And besides, Fox News is the only alert news organization, and it was co-opted when that rich Saudi prince with the funny head-dress bought a chunk of News Corp. So young Rashad should be able to slide. Barack is building on the foundation of systematic self-desstruction that Dubya laid down 9 yrs ago.

Whoever remembered Rashad Hussain's statement from the 2004 WRMEA article and then thought to dredge it up from the news archives of Nexis is to be congratulated for a brilliant, and probably exhausting, piece of investigative work. I doubt if WMREA would agree to tamper with its data base to delete or alter the article in question, but they may keep records of requests to do so. It would be interesting to know if any such request were made, and if so, by whom.

Slightly OT - For readers who might be interested, there is a web archiving organization called The Internet Archive http://www.archive.org . It runs what is called the Wayback Machine that systematically crawls the entire World Wide Web, periodically and systematically capturing and archiving every single web page on the entire Internet. It's a massive undertaking, but has been in operation practically as long as the WWW has existed. Its archives are readily accessible by anyone, and are useful for retrieving entire web sites that used to exist but no longer do. I checked Wayback to see if WRMEA might have material relating to the 2004, but apparently their first web site was set up in March 2005.

"...relating to the 2004 story..."

AMEN!! AMEN!! Alleluia we are FREE!!

"I doubt if WMREA would agree to tamper with its data base to delete or alter the article in question... "

Quite right, Eastview, its probity is beyond question. The website masthead proclaims it has been "Telling the Truth for 28 Years."

How could anyone doubt that, given that it has featured articles by or about such scholars as Karen Armstrong, Robert Fisk, Edward Said and John Esposito.

Thank you for pointing this out. I misspoke here. The story was about WRMEA, but the database containing the story in question is maintained by Nexis. It would be Nexis, not WRMEA, that would be responsible for maintaining the integrity of its files, and it is Nexis who I doubt would agree to tamper with its data base. Also, it should be mentioned that Nexis and The Internet Archive are not the same. The story above seems to blur the distinction.

For sure, SOMEBODY has tampered with the record. With many hard copies of the 2004 issue no doubt collecting dust in libraries, there must have been the hope that nobody would check them and would be too lazy or trusting to check cached and archived digital databases.

A further worry is that if LexisNexis is either hackable or open to "editing" it raises major questions for our modern society. These and similar databases are relied on all the time for crucial decisions in such key areas as law, business, science and technology.

Agreed. There definitely does seem to be something fishy about this. And to your list of areas above add the financial sector, indeed, the entire set of federal, state, and local records.

Slightly OT but tangentially related - Some years ago my employer unilaterally announced that as a cost saving measure hard copy statements of payroll deposits would no longer be mailed out, but would instead be available over the Internet. A number of us alta caccas rebelled on the grounds that when the inevitable day comes that the system crashes or the electronic records containing employment and retirement information go "poof" we want to have at least these deposit slips to prove that we even worked here. The kids designing these systems, never knowing anything else and not having lived long enough to appreciate how obsolescence of storage media can render data from even a few years ago inaccessible (remember the 8" or 5-1/4" or 3-1/2" floppies?), were completely astounded at the thought that this could even happen. About a year later a small story appeared in the local paper that our employer had outsourced to a company in Oregon the job of performing independent online daily backups to augment the daily backups to magnetic tape that could be lost in case of fire or flood. So, although we were fortunate not to have had any such disaster, the point was made, that there are some problems that are so important that redundancy should not be an option, that there are some occasions when it's wise to wear both suspenders and a belt. I think some of the security problems with databases likely derive from a lack of thinking in worst-case scenarios during their design, not a natural inclination for designers rushing to get products out the door, and where this might not have been stressed in CS classes.

"I think much more likely—chance that Hussain understands that Al-Arian was involved with funding Jihad terrorism, and wanted to defend him anyway."

I hope that isn't the case, but as more information comes out, you may very well be proved right (as is so often the case!). But I was trying to hold back since Al-Arian had not been convicted yet at the time Hussain made those comments.

Although, in the early 1990s the Tampa Tribune and a TV documentary described Al-Arian as a PIJ leader (according to this St. Pete Times article at http://www.sptimes.com/2006/04/23/Hillsborough/In_his_plea_deal__wha.shtml)...

Please please dear American cousins, write, ring, contact your local representatives of your vibrant democracy and demand an investigation into this weasel and his appointment.
WHen can we all just say out loud "islam is an ugly, primitive and violent ideology and we don't want it in our countres?'

"Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past." - George Orwell

That was the perfect quote, and is a theme of the current administration.

This is the kind of stuff that should be out in the popular press and media, yet you hear nothing.

Apparently, in addition to the current case, various records and accounts of many of the unconfirmed czars were wiped clean.

The media cooperates in the whitewash, leaving all their professed journalistic ethics at the door when it suits them. It is just a continuing descent, started by the interjection of the opinion into hard news, by use general comments of observers and use of unnamed sources that are just the comments of the writer or his acquaintances.

Finally, for all their protestation of the Patriot Act and intelligence gathering from foreign calls to parties of interest, the Obama administration will be more destructive to civil rights than any prior administration. With wanton manipulation of information on the internet, and the current opinion secured that states there is no presumption of privacy on a cell phone. The administration will manipulate the record so that no one will know the truth..what is next creation of phony pictures/images. Monitoring of domestic cell calls? Maybe phony criminal records to create arrests to eliminate opposition. Stuff straight out of Enemy of the State from a supposed constitutional attorney.

There may come a day when details like this about Rashad Hussein, and others, disappear completely.

The Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Report actually ran this story first, on February 14, one day earlier than this report from today. Here is our post:

http://globalmbreport.com/?p=2173

As you can see, there is much more to it than simply the Al-Arian comments.

Somebody above commented on our investigative work which they thought must have been "exhausting." The sad thing is that it wasn't that hard.....all we did was run his name through NEXIS to see what had already been reported. Then we remembered that the Washington Report was indexed by Google and just wondered why we didn't find
this story with a Google search. That is how the missing two sentences came to light.

Either the U.S. media is too lazy do simple background work like that, don't understand the meaning of what they do see, or.....?

That is actually why we created the Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Report....because the media wasn't covering the subject with a few exceptions of course.

"

Rashad Hussain was quoted as telling a Muslim students' event in Chicago that if U.S. Muslims did not speak out against the injustices taking place in America, then everyone's rights would be in jeopardy.
......................

Repulsive—especially considering the actions of Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Even if you leave aside the horrific attacks on Israeli citizens—not an e4asy matter—here's the state of 'rights' they envision for their fellow Muslims:

"Islamic Jihad is alleged to have used teens as suicide bombers. On March 29, 2004, 16-year-old Tamer Khuweir in Rifidia, an Arab suburb of Nablus was apprehended by Israeli security forces as he prepared to carry out a suicide attack. His older brother claimed he was brainwashed to do it by an Islamic Jihad cleric and demanded the Palestinian Authority investigate the incident and arrest those responsible for it."

Much more ugliness here:

Great work, globalmbreport! Yours is actually the first site I saw this report on (via a hyperlink from Counterterrorism blog).

GMBDR - nice work! I've bookmarked your site for regular checks in the future.

You mentioned "Then we remembered that the Washington Report was indexed by Google and just wondered why we didn't find this story with a Google search. That is how the missing two sentences came to light."

Could you explain what you mean by "indexed by Google?" Do you mean the normal indexing that Google does, or is there among Google's numerous add-ons one that specializes in news stories? For example, Google scholar specializes in indexing academic publications.

Thx!

Thanks for your comments, American Delight. Unfortunately, here's more that has come to light on Rashad Hussain:

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2010/02/new-obama-envoy-to-oic-has-long-history-of-dalliances-with-muslim-brotherhood.html#comments

I'd rather be wrong on this stuff—honestly. One of the many things I hate about Jihad is that exposure to it has made me generally a less trusting person. By nature, I'm basically an optimist.

I still we can win out against Jihad and Shari'ah—but only if we keep our eyes open.

The info you have shared here on JW should be made into a booklet or something. This needs to be out there for all to read.

That's really all we need to know about who is the enemy and who is the Lord...and the tremendous differences between the two.

Christianity and Islam have absolutely NOTHING in common. Pretty much polar opposites.

Thanks so much for your posting, CS. Wish this could be as readily available as a newspaper.
