Oh, and all that genocidal rhetoric against Israel? Just kidding!
"Imam Khamenei says Iran will never seek atom bomb," from the Ahlul Bayt News Agency, February 19 (thanks to Block Ness):
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Friday that the country neither believes in atomic bombs nor is it seeking to develop such weapons. The Leader said the continuation of allegations by the West that the country is pursuing military objectives in its civilian nuclear program signals that the propaganda campaign against Iran has failed.
Iran has announced many times, he said, that its fundamentals and religious principles consider weapons of mass destruction as "illegal and haraam" -- meaning forbidden and prohibited according to Islamic rules....
Iran in no way believes in an atomic bomb, and it does not seek one, Imam Khamenei said....
Yes, but were his fingers crossed when he said it?
After a dozen years of nonsense, lies, and false assurances, from now this Iranian leader and now that, that nonsense, those lies, those false assurances, all increasing pari passu with the frenzied pace of work on the nuclear bomb project, and after 1300 years of a doctrine that originates in Shi'a Islam (though now the common property of Muslims of all sects), the practice, craft, art of Taqiyya (a working out of Muhammad's celebrated "War Is Deception"), that is religiously-sanctioned dissimulation undertaken to protect Islam and Believers, we are now to listen to the Supreme Leader, Khamenei, and expected to believe him.
What are we being taken for? Utter fools? Flynt Leverett?
Hugh: Yes we are being taken for utter fools but nothing wrong with that because it's what we are. Aren't we?
David, Thailand
"Iran has announced many times, he said, that its fundamentals and religious principles consider weapons of mass destruction as 'illegal and haraam' -- meaning forbidden and prohibited according to Islamic rules...."
I see, weapons of mass destruction are haraam, but threatening to wipe Israel off the map is not?
And Iran threatens to destroy to masses: Israel, but not with weapons of mass destruction? I guess they're gonna use a lot of little bombs to achieve their objective, but one big bomb is unthinkiable? Huh?
They really are unbelievable, both in what they spout off about and for chutzpa.
I think this only means they're going straight for the Hydrogen Bomb.
Atom, schm-atom!
The imams want the latest instrument of the Apocalpyse.
Not that minor Hiroshima stuff.
Until his next bowel movement kicks in.Principles? Surely you jest..yet again. Pshaw..
War is deceit.
Well, we can rest easy now after that reassurance from the peaceful Muslims.
Totally OT, but the Dutch government has just collapsed in the wee small hours.
What do you mean?
Your reasoning is faulty and extremely short-sighted. Maybe you weren't old enough to remember 911, but winning hearts and minds for democracy was NOT why we went into Afghanistan. After the attacks of 2001, we went there to kill or capture Osama bin Laden and the members of Al Qaeda who planned, directed and helped execute those attacks. We did not go there to build a new Afghan society.
Your "Jesus freak" remarks are very off topic, offensive, slanderous, and not to mention ...annoying. Read the "NOTE" above the comments section, and you will discover that your comment might get deleted.
As in "collapsed" or in "wee small hours"?
Balkenende handed in his resignation to the Dutch Queen.

Not so OT in light of comments above.
I'm more concerned about MUSLIM "Jesus-Freaks"...
"Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, surely (Jesus,) the son of Mary will soon descend amongst you and will judge mankind justly (as a Just Ruler); he will break the Cross and kill the pigs and there will be no Jizya (i.e. taxation taken from non Muslims) [PD: thus, they will have to choose between Islamization or death]. Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it, and a single prostration to Allah (in prayer) will be better than the whole world and whatever is in it." Abu Huraira added "If you wish, you can recite (this verse of the Holy Book): -- 'And there is none Of the people of the Scriptures (Jews and Christians) But must believe in him (i.e Jesus as an Apostle of Allah and a human being) Before his death. And on the Day of Judgment He will be a witness Against them." (4.159) (See Fateh Al Bari, Page 302 Vol 7)"–Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 55, Number 657
"Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, son of Mary (Jesus) will shortly descend amongst you people (Muslims) as a just ruler [PD: ruling according to Shari'a] and will break the Cross and kill the pig and abolish the Jizya (a tax taken from the non-Muslims, who are in the protection, of the Muslim government). Then there will be abundance of money and no-body will accept charitable gifts.""--Sahih Bukhari Volume 3 Book 34 Number 425
"Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet said: There is no prophet between me and him, that is, Jesus. He will descent (to the earth). When you see him, recognise him: a man of medium height, reddish fair, wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling down from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight the people for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross, kill swine, and abolish jizyah. Allah will perish all religions except Islam. He will destroy the Antichrist and will live on the earth for forty years and then he will die. The Muslims will pray over him."--Sunan Abu Dawud Book 37 Number 4310
...Than I am about the charitable born-again next door...

If nukes are haraam, then what's up with Pakistan?
Ya. Thought so. Taqiyya all the way.
Sepharadi, thanks for the ahadith citations. Which edition do you use? On Robert's recommendation, I recently purchased the Sahih al Bukhari, Dar Ussalam edition. It's very revealing; and, once one wades through the oceans of mind-numbingly boring ahadith, it's worth the purchase just to be able to use a primary source for refuting Islam.
Oh, Khamenei said it. It's got to be true. Doesn't he have the responsibility of the Buenos Aires victims on his hands? They denied and denied that blood bath even though a trail of blood and body parts led all the way up to Argentina's corrupt president Menem. There is no evil that the regime in Teheran is not capable of.
They look to be identical to my copies:
Sahih Bukhari - trans. Dr Muhammad Muhsin Khan
Islamic University, Medina Al-Munawwara
Kitab Bhavan, Delhi. 1984/87 In 9 vols.
Sunan Abu Dawud - trans Prof. Ahmad Hasan
Islamia University, Islamabad
Kitab Bhavan, Delhi. 1990/2000 In 3 vols.
MBR, thanks for the response. I hope to add another hadith collection to my al Bukhari as soon as finances allow. I have found the tafsir Ibn Kathir to be essential.
You are welcome. A local Muslim shop was closing down so I put in a cash bid for those plus Sahih Muslim and got the lot very reasonably.
Ibn Kathir I have to get.
Geert Wilders is smiling now that the Cabinet has fallen in the Netherlands.
Ahmadinejad stated that he would gladly sacrifice 2/3 of Iran if it meant the end of Israel. It means more than that. The ayatollah so smelly (Khomeieni) imprisoned and snuffed a bunch of zealots that were too crazy even for him. The survivors are the ones in charge. It's all about the 12th imam...the Zombie in the Well...
Armegeddon first, then paradise. Limitless sex for the right kind of Death. Virgins, all things forbidden on earth. Sure no fun for em' here.
How better to kick start Armegeddon than with a few nukes?
Iran in no way believes in an atomic bomb, and it does not seek one, Imam Khamenei said....
Under his breath he was heard to say, "We need 9."
"Fundamentalist Christianity is such a vile ideology."
Compared to what? I count myself as reasonably fundamental, but I don't espouse holy war, I don't think that non-Christians should be forced to convert or die, and world domination has no attraction to me or my cohorts.
So, James Randal - compared to what?
MBR "A local Muslim shop was closing down"...
What?!?! No Stimulus money from the Anointed One? Lol!
And also, "James Randal" is a mahoundian TROLL. Please don't feed the TROLLS!

Iran lies and our Press swears by it.
The Sheep are due to be sheared and their bleating will be insufferable.

i just went there and it's not blacked out on my browser.
Imam Khamene must be one of those rare "moderate" Muslims we've been searching for. Their taqiyya sounds more sincere. Truth is enemy number one of Islam, and all tyrannies.
There is a 100% chance they will go nuke. Only a fool would think otherwise, or a coward, I suppose. It is up to Israel to deal with them. Our PC's are taking care of us and placating this vile ever expanding Satan.
If we don't upset them we will be O.K. And so the problem escalates. The NAZIs will not attack England if we just give them what they want!
Yes we can trust them, as they have proven they don't lie.
A coward dies a thousand deaths, but a brave man only once.
I will enjoy watching them get their education.
Well, mine is, AI.
Perhaps Jim Foolster did it to me. I don't know.
Everything else for me on JW is fine.
The Iranian Resistance had fallen on Feb. 11, just as I predicted here 4 days earlier, on Sunday, Feb. 7.
So much for "waiting for the Green Revolution to develop". The cowardly United States of America and even more cowardly Europe had waited, and waited, and waited, doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. For SEVEN MONTHS. The same West who intervened so openly, insolently and shamelessly in the elections in Georgia, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan, engineering "color revolutions" there. Just to annoy Russia. But no help at all to the spontaneous, grass-roots revolution in Iran during those 7 months. During those 7 months, the Green Revolution was not "developing". It was being murdered. The conest was too uneven. The Islamo-Nazi Iranian Reich relentlessly trained millions of cultists in combat and murder for 31 years. A college student, a housewife, a shopkeeper and a poor worker who wanted freedom were no match for them in the street. It is astonishing that the revolt lasted THIS LONG.
I could not care less about the fate of Nafsanjani, Karroubi and Moussavi who emerged as the nominal "leaders" of the protests, seeking personal power. They are no better than Ahmadinejad. I care even less about Mohammed Khatami, who is even worse still, for this so-called "moderate" ex-president played his "good cop" con on the cowardly Western elites with total success, even as uranium enrichment centrifuges spinned 24/7. The worse he ends up the better.
But the ranks of this broad-based revolt are very diverse. There are folks there who wanted to go all the way and to do away with the Islamo-Nazi Reich. Those are the Resistance the West should have aided. But it did not.
There's nothing but death agony for the Resistance now. And this agony will be long. It will be horrible. In keeping with the totalitarian practices, the regime is now on a "follow-up" and "eradicate" rampage, going after the folks into their homes and places of work, at night and by day. Thousands will die brutal deaths on blood-flooded concrete floors of torture basements of Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Shiraz and Abadan. Those who survive torture will be put on show trials and marched to the gallows.
It is over. The Islamo-Nazi Reich had crushed the Resistance and emerged from the showdown emboldened and more dangerous than ever.
Just as I predicted here on Sunday, February 7.

Kepha in reply to James Randal
Most of us "Jesus Freaks" are kind of literal-minded about Paul's remark that the weapons of our warfare are spiritual rather than carnal (paraphrase of II Cor. 10:3). Since, when Paul wrote, the Christians didn't have control of armies and governments, the "tearing down of strongholds" is persuasion, not force. Add to that, preaching is the way the Gospel spreads, not conquest.
William Tyndale, whose English translation of the New Testament and most of the Old is part of the foundation of the later King James Version, also wrote a tract entitled _On the Obedience of a Christian_. In it, he attacked Papal indulgences for Crusaders as unscriptural. And, if you wonder why Tyndale didn't finish the Old Testament, it was simply because he got burnt at the stake at the instigation of Sir Thomas More.
Further, one of the things that appealed to me about my brother "Jesus Freak" George Bush the Younger back in 2000 was, after the messes in the Balkans and Somalia, he said he was against further nation building exercises. If he went back on that promise, it was due to the force of circumstances hitting ALL Americans squarely in the face after 9/11/01.
And, I will go on record now that I do not like the idea of war with Iran. Let them stew in their own juices for the next thirty years or so, and let us just keep our proverbial [nuclear?] powder dry. It worked with Mao, who was probably even crazier than Ahmedinejad, and whose country was a far larger and more serious strategic threat.
Kepha in reply to "Sephardi" and other Hadith researchers--Thanks. Bear with me while I think aloud along my own "Jesus Freak" lines about reasons for a little restraint in how we treat Iran.
I am greatly intrigued by the way Islam makes Jesus the key figure in the final judgment, as well as its calling him al-Masih (cognate to M'shiach). This strikes me as very much akin to modern political radicals' appeal to a modernized "Jesus" even as they attack Christians, churches, and the biblical witness itself. Even those who have no use for what's written about him find Jesus a very convenient person to have on their side.
Yet, I wonder, after a couple more decades of the current Islamic ferment, might we not find today's Muslims and their children open to the Jesus of the Old and New Testaments, with the garbled witness to Jesus' exalted office given by the Qu'ran and Hadith as a kind of "wedge"?
While we cower in fear here and now, could it be that "He that sitteth in the heavens" (Ps. 2:4)is, via the Hadith and falsehoods about Jesus pressed by both Muslims and Leftists, laughing at those who would break asunder and cast aside the bands of God and his anointed?
James Randal, I'm really, really sorry that I can't confirm your view of things and preach an armed crusade like the Pope Urban or Bernard of Clairvaux that you apparently expect me to be. But I've lived long enough to know that God has a few tricks up his sleeves (forgive me the anthropomorphism) of which we know little down in this Vale of Baca.
"...a primary source for refuting Islam".
Save your money, Jim.
There is no "refuting" Islam.
Because, essentially, Islam's inhumane aim refutes it.
Not its texts.
Islam seeks a global, totalitarian, theocratic gulag.
Nothing else about it matters but that core horror.
Not the contents of The Koran, the hadiths, sunna, et al.
Dueling with exegetical ghosts is spending valuable energy better put to simply opposing Islam's evil aim.
If Islam's intent is bad, how could anything else about it be any good?
Or need rational "refuting".
The refutation of the entirety of Mohammadism is contained in its Monstrous Goal: a planetary Death Camp.
That Islam gilds its Sword coming down on humanity's neck does not make that Sword any better.
And arguing with Muslims about the gilt misses the point of the Sword.
And there is another, equally vitiating fact about all reasonable "refuting":
You cannot convince a true believer not to believe.
It's a fatal Catch-23:
Belief is an immunity against rationality.
And if their belief is your death, then the fight is not over the textual minutae, but the broad stroke aimed at your neck.
But Islam loves this insular, ineffctual arguing, since it spends our power as they retain their.
Because they have contempt for all of our disputations of their Death Cult.
Ruslan/Enraged:
There is nothing so powerful as an idea whose time has come--even if it is a really lousy idea. This is the key to the Islamic revolutions that have overcome Iran and other countries. The Islamic world has tried just about everything else, so it's falling back on its inherited Islamic ideology. it was just the same with the Russian intelligentsia between 1890 and 1917 and the Chinese back between 1919-1949. They were bound and determined to put Marxism into practice, and nothing would stop them.
While I am no fan of the appeasing Leftists who now run my country (the USA), I still think that we Americans should have learned a lesson or two back in 1979. It's why I'm not particularly interested in saving fools from their own folly in Iran or anywhere else at this point, but letting them stew in their own juices for a while. BTW, I'm with you on Mousavi and Khatami. They're a bunch of thugs, too.

Darcy, do you REALLY think that I am so powerful as to effect how you are able to interact with this site from your home computer?
Is there some purpose to continue your insults and drama against me?
I went to bed last night with the intention to let bygones be bygones. I still have that intention.
I, like most people. am content to be fair and kind to those who are fair and kind to me.
We are at war and Jim's a good shot...
Yep. as Christian fundamentalism is so bad, it is time James (or should it be Mohammed) Randal was booted out of the West and sent back to the Muslim 'paradise' of his choice, like Iran or Pakistan, just like the rest of his fellow sponging parasites who seek our destruction.
Ruslan is absolutely correct. The anti-regime protests in Iran have all but been smashed to smithereens. They have lost, lets make no bones about it, and the regime is stronger than ever. Their thugs have done their evil work and thousands of Iranians are faced with the choice of getting out or death, that is - if they haven't heard the 3am knock on the door yet. And he is right about the alternatives to Khamenei and Ahmadinejad being just as bad as that gruesome pair. Whoever is in charge of the present regime will still set the Basij thugs and Revolutionary Guards hatchetmen on any dissenters with the same brutal force. The brutal laws will still remain in place, as will the threats against Israel and its nuclear programme aimed at wiping that country off the face of the earth. The wicked regime that rules Iran with a rod of iron needs removing and Islam and Sharia law writing out of the constitution. Carter has so much to answer for thanks to his weakness in 1979 which allowed the present regime to take over, and on top of that he emboldened that regime by trying to negotiate with it when US Embassy staff were kidnapped and held for 444 days, and Reagan doesn't get off scot free either. Iran and its leaders should have been severely punished for the US Embassy and Beirut Bombings back in 1983, whilst that regime was still in its infancy, still at war with Iraq, and far more vulnerable. The mad ayatollahs who escaped being killed in the war that should have resulted should have faced a firing squad. Firing a few shells into Beirut was far too timid a response. The Iranian regime should certainly have been taken down by brute force in 1983/84, and doing so back then would have saved so much trouble later. But, alas, we haven't had any bulldog spirited Islam-savvy leaders in the West for six or more decades now, and there's none on the horizon either.
"I went to bed last night with the intention to let bygones be bygones. I still have that intention."
I think his intention was to have the last word. Too bad he didn't wake up letting bygones be bygones.
Champ, stop your harassment here. I'm fed up with the bullshit from some of you.
We know Muslims can't be won over with democracy whilst they remain Muslim - that is why their death cult must be targeted with the whole truth. It must never be a crime to denounce Islam as it is - barbaric, cruel, tyrannical, misogyniostic, civilization-destroying etc. If those descriptive words were good a la Islam for the likes of Winston Churchill, John Quincy Adams, John Wesley, Theodore Roosevelt and William Gladstone, then they're damned well good enough for us. Democracy will only come to Muslim nations, as will true equality when they cease to be Muslim, and not until. Iran was Zoroastrian, so a revival of Zoroastrianism and Christianity should have been forced upon them following a war that should have come way back in 1984 in the wake of the US Embassy bombings carried out by Iranian proxies. After all, the Conquistadors destroyed the symbols of Aztec cruelty in 1521, the cutting out of the still-beating hearts of sacrificial victims, and we saw no revival of it after that year.
James Randal and Jim Foster,
Your anti-Christian comments are ridiculous and offensive to many in a forum like this. You must have a deep seated superior sense of entitlement to engage in religious bigotry which is one of the many problems with Islam. Probably you hate all religions because Islam is such a problem; or maybe you are Muslim. Who knows? At a minimum, your insulting comments show your lack of knowledge of religion.
BTW, last I heard, secularism is losing across Europe to Islam. I presume that you would want the same for the USA. Which, BTW, is what Muslims want. Hmmm.
Hey, anti-Christian bigot!!!
You happen to be right about Bush's approach to Muslims. I believe that we should turn Iran et al into a parking lot with one of our Tridents. So, unfortunately, we agree on something. What you are talking about is the weak and strong people of the world. The US is led by weak people. So is Europe. Islam is not. Does that make you happy, you anti-Christian bigot. I suppose you also hate Jews.
Exactly right, Spot on ...
Those two are very rude and hateful towards Christians, especially one calling himself, James Randall ...Wow! And Jim told me to "go to hell" the other day, so he is hateful, as well.
And if Jim is in fact a Jew, as he alleges, then he ought to consider the fact that the majority of Christians across the world -- including myself -- are strong supporters of Israel! So if I were him, then I would think twice before making any more enemies with Christians, since Israel's "friends" are fast becoming fewer and fewer. Sadly.
Go Israel!
Hi Champ,
As a bigot, Mr. Randall tries to make his point that Bush was weak, Bush was a Christian, therefore Christians are weak. My point is that Europe is much weaker, Europe is not Christian, therefore not only is Mr. Randall a bigot but he is flat wrong with his rude anti-Christian statements. He is just a wrongheaded bigoted bully.
