In Human Events this morning I discuss a troubling new manifestation of PC multiculturalism in the Noor Almaleki honor killing case in Arizona:
Last October there was another in the growing number of Islamic honor killings in the United States when a Muslim in Peoria, Arizona, Faleh Almaleki, got into his Jeep Cherokee and ran down his twenty-year-old daughter Noor, as well as her boyfriend's mother, Amal Khalaf.Noor died not long thereafter, and Faleh Almaleki was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault and two counts of leaving the scene of a serious accident. But prosecutors announced this week that he will not face the death penalty - it wouldn't be multicultural.
Faleh Almaleki's lawyer, public defender Billy Little, requested that the death penalty not be sought in this case because County Attorney Andrew Thomas is a Christian and Almaleki is a Muslim: "An open process provides some level of assurance that there is no appearance that a Christian is seeking to execute a Muslim for racial, political, religious or cultural beliefs."
And indeed, the County Attorney's office ultimately decided not to seek the death penalty, although it denied that Little's request had anything to do with the decision: "The defendant is charged with first degree murder and, if convicted, will spend the rest of his life in prison," said County Attorney Office spokesman Mike Scerbo. "As is in all first degree murder cases, the decision on whether to seek the death penalty is made on a case by case basis. Cultural considerations played no part in the decision not to seek the death penalty."
This denial, however, did not ring true in light of the calculated nature of Almaleki's actions: "By his own admission," said county prosecutor Stephanie Low, "this was an intentional act, and the reason was that his daughter had brought shame on him and his family. This was an attempt at an honor killing."
If a cold-blooded, premeditated murder doesn't warrant the death penalty, what murder does? If the death penalty is to be applied or contemplated at all, one would be hard-pressed to find a case more appropriate than one in which a father murders his daughter freely, not in the heat of passion, and with full intentionality, because she does not share his values.
Honor killing is the murder of a wife, daughter or sister by a husband, father or brother in order to cleanse the family's honor after a sexual indiscretion. Noor Almaleki had enraged her father by becoming "too Westernized" and living with her boyfriend. Honor killing is broadly tolerated in many Islamic countries, and is encouraged by the fact that traditional Islamic law mandates no penalty for a parent who kills a child. Syria and Jordan, among other countries, punish honor murderers more lightly than other murderers, and in Jordan Islamic clerics led the fight against an attempt several years ago to stiffen penalties for honor killing.
This is a human rights issue that ought to merit the attention of anyone who cares for the lives lost to this barbaric practice. Yet American law enforcement officials are doing nothing to call Muslim communities in this country to teach against and work against this practice. And relativist multiculturalists like Billy Little seem to think that taking a strong stand against honor killing would be an illegitimate imposition of Christian values upon a Muslim.
There are larger implications of this decision as well. In my 2008 book Stealth Jihad, I laid out evidence that Islamic groups in the U.S. were working in the courts, businesses, and educational institutions to secure special privileges for Muslims, in accord with Sharia provisions that give them a place above non-Muslims in Islamic societies. And while they have succeeded in local efforts here and there to get special break times in workplaces for prayers, even the most dedicated Muslim Brotherhood entities in America have not yet begun pressuring for the kind of concession that Billy Little handed them.
But they will surely take the hint. For the first time, the idea that all are not equal before the law, but that some are more equal than others, has been given credence by an American court. Despite the County Attorney's Office denials, a precedent has been set that Islamic pressure groups are certain to exploit to the hilt.

Outsiders see the death penalty as something The USA has in common with the barbaric middle ages as codified in sharia currently practiced in many of members of the Organization of Barbaric Countries (OIC).
Given that the US has this death penalty is seems very perverse that cultural considerations mean it is not implemented on a Moslem as Moslems love death and death penalties as the love the example and laws of their prime pedophile, Mohammad.
Or do cultural considerations in the US mean the same as the do in Europe - namely women have no value and no rights in Islam and we will respect diversity by stripping women of value and rights ourselves?
Even worse, this gives wife murderes an incentive to convert to islam.
Muslims should be given the death penalty even where others would not be given, because their religion talks about death, stoning, beheading, caning etc for the smallest of crimes.

The article doesn't mention if the other victim was killed. If she was, Arizona recognizes multiple homicides as an aggravating factor supporting the imposition of the death penalty. Another aggravating factor that could apply here is the grave risk to others (the surviving victim) as a result of the defendant's conduct. As a prosecutor from another state (Pennsylvania) it would be interesting to review the reasons for the decision not to seek the death penalty in this case. Assuming at least one of the eleven aggravating factors under Arizona Law apply, what evidence of mitigation was used by the prosecution as support for not seeking the death penalty?
I can think of alternative sentences - A lifetime job in a prison farm minding the pigs.
Impeachment of any judge or prosecutor who advances this crap is in order.

This appears to be not only murder, but also terrorism. The act of killing here was likely intended as a message to the wider population of Muslim women, particularly those who are young and "Westernized" or perceived to be un-Islamic (including female ex-Muslims), to stay in line with traditional Islamic rules and customs--or else.

That is a very good question. In WWII we had people that would accept nothing less than a finished job and no excuses. So our government finished the job with the Axis Powers with unconditional surrender and no excuses. Today, our society readily accepts excuses and much less from our Federal Government while paying much more. Also we have a squishy globalist endeavor underway which gives our government all kinds of excuses and reasons not to finish anything. Unless our people demand better performance from our government all they will get is excuses. There's another aspect to this that I find deeply disturbing, as well.
In the case above—as with other recent cases in Britain where violent assailants were dealt with leniently—it seems that pains are not just taken in the case of Muslims, but *specifically in the cases of the most "Islamic" of Muslims*.
Faleh Almaleki's victims—his poor dead daughter and her boyfriend's injured mother—were both Muslim, as well. But, not being violent criminals, they don't appear to be the *right sort of Muslims*. This is similar to the case in Britain where Judge Cherie Blair let a violent Muslim assailant off with no charges. She didn't seem to consider the case of the man's equally Muslim victim, who's jaw he broke.
Just as so much of the time, officials in the West choose to work with Muslim groups with active links to terrorists, because, it seems, more "moderate" groups have less "cred".
In other words, often times the West not only panders to Muslims in general, but panders to the most viciously "Islamic" of those Muslims—*even when other Muslims suffer as a result*.
The madness of this should be self evident.

There's something I don't understand here:
Defense-counsel Billy Little talks about an "open process." (never mind that his reasoning for this is irrelevant to the case itself) Then the prosecutor comes out & says the death-penalty has, in fact, been ruled-out.
But of course, he (the DA)denies that Little's (religiously-based) request had anything to do with that decision. He says that "cultural considerations" played no part in that decision.
By the same concept of "open process" does the prosecutor not have an obligation to divulge then what DID play a part? Just explaining that the perp "will spend life in prison if convicted,"
doesn't answer the question, only begs it.
How can it get much worse than premeditated murder of one's own daughter? If the DA is going to pull his punches on a case like this, I think his district has a right to know why, they should be clamoring for it!

Life without parole, execution, what ever is necessary for "Honor killing". This phenomena is unique to Muslims and our laws must recognize this and prosecute them under our existing laws.

I don't know what all the laws are in AZ regarding the death penalty,it is possible that the DA wants to avoid civil unrest. I don't know what is on his mind about it.
What I do know is that England runs sharia courts side by side with their standard courts...The sharia courts deal with civil cases between muslims...i.e. divorce, child custody, lawsuits...for all I know they might handle some criminal cases now. This is a dangerous direction for England, and I pray, not a direction that our country is going. It will, I fear, cause a revolution because our courts, will go by some misguided comparison to the civil rights movement and they will ignore the failures of this experiment in England and France and the rest of Europe. I pray they survive.
What can you expect from a country that votes for politicians who smile nice while they are screwing their constituency up the ass? I guess the same that you would expect from a country that allows smiling mozoids to work in all level of governmental and educational institutions, as well as the medical and science fields. When this story was breaking, the MSM assured us that Malek Almaleki was motivated by his "Iraqi" values. Now in order to go soft on Islam it matters that these values were Islamic values after all, and in order to save his life, the MSM can almost say so out loud. This is some strange kind of progress in the MSM exercising free speech. As others here are getting at, we will likely see more, and more poignant cases of being able to say out loud that certain behaviors are indeed motivated by Islamic tenets, and that is why we must tolerate them. The Fort Hood mass-murder trial hasn't happened yet - maybe we will find out that a) yes, Malik Nadal Hasan was motivated by Islamic infidel hatred and world jihad, and b) those are religious manifestations and so they are protected by law.
