This again: yet another sleazy Islamic supremacist claims he was "misunderstood." You would think that after awhile they'd be too embarrassed to bring out this tired, lame excuse yet again, but they seem to be immune from embarrassment.
And compounding the problem here is that his explanation hardly makes matters better. He is counting on his audience not knowing anything about Khaybar. Among jihadis the slogan is familiar: "Khaybar, Khaybar, ya Yahoud, jaish Muhammad sa yaoud" -- that is, "Khaybar, Khaybar, O Jews, the army of Muhammad will return."
Khaybar. As I explain in my book The Truth About Muhammad, Muhammad led a Muslim force against the Khaybar oasis, which was inhabited by Jews -- many of whom he had previously exiled from Medina. When he did so, he was not responding to any provocation. One of the Muslims later remembered: "When the apostle raided a people he waited until the morning. If he heard a call to prayer he held back; if he did not hear it he attacked. We came to Khaybar by night, and the apostle passed the night there; and when morning came he did not hear the call to prayer, so he rode and we rode with him....We met the workers of Khaybar coming out in the morning with their spades and baskets. When they saw the apostle and the army they cried, 'Muhammad with his force,' and turned tail and fled. The apostle said, 'Allah Akbar! Khaybar is destroyed. When we arrive in a people's square it is a bad morning for those who have been warned.'"
The Muslim advance was inexorable. "The apostle," according to Muhammad's earliest biographer, Ibn Ishaq, "seized the property piece by piece and conquered the forts one by one as he came to them." Another biographer of Muhammad, Ibn Sa'd, reports that the battle was fierce: the "polytheists...killed a large number of [Muhammad's] Companions and he also put to death a very large number of them....He killed ninety-three men of the Jews..." Muhammad and his men offered the fajr prayer, the Islamic dawn prayer, before it was light, and then entered Khaybar itself. The Muslims immediately set out to locate the inhabitants' wealth. A Jewish leader of Khaybar, Kinana bin al-Rabi, was brought before Muhammad; Kinana was supposed to have been entrusted with the treasure of on of the Jewish tribes of Arabia, the Banu Nadir. Kinana denied knowing where this treasure was, but Muhammad pressed him: "Do you know that if we find you have it I shall kill you?" Kinana said yes, that he did know that.
Some of the treasure was found. To find the rest, Muhammad gave orders concerning Kinana: "Torture him until you extract what he has." One of the Muslims built a fire on Kinana's chest, but Kinana would not give up his secret. When he was at the point of death, one of the Muslims beheaded him. Kinana's wife was taken as a war prize; Muhammad claimed her for himself and hastily arranged a wedding ceremony that night. He halted the Muslims' caravan out of Khaybar later that night in order to consummate the marriage.
Muhammad agreed to let the people of Khaybar to go into exile, allowing them to keep as much of their property as they could carry. The Prophet of Islam, however, commanded them to leave behind all their gold and silver. He had intended to expel all of them, but some, who were farmers, begged him to allow them to let them stay if they gave him half their yield annually. Muhammad agreed: "I will allow you to continue here, so long as we would desire." He warned them: "If we wish to expel you we will expel you." They no longer had any rights that did not depend upon the good will and sufferance of Muhammad and the Muslims. And indeed, when the Muslims discovered some treasure that some of the Khaybar Jews had hidden, he ordered the women of the tribe enslaved and seized the perpetrators' land. A hadith notes that "the Prophet had their warriors killed, their offspring and woman taken as captives."
Thus when modern-day jihadists invoke Khaybar, as this hate mailer did indirectly by echoing the familiar chant about Muhammad's Army, they are doing much more than just recalling the glory days of Islam and its prophet. They are recalling an aggressive, surprise raid by Muhammad which resulted in the final eradication of the once considerable Jewish presence in Arabia. To the jihadists, Khaybar means the destruction of the Jews and the seizure of their property by the Muslims.
That's what Noor Rashid is now claiming that he did say. This is supposed to reassure us.
An update on this story. "Student says 'slaughter the Jews' remark was misunderstood," by Donald Macintyre in The Independent, February 12:
A student who spoke out in Arabic during protests against a speech by an Israeli minister at the Oxford Union has denied he called out the words: "Slaughter the Jews".A statement issued by the office of Israel's deputy foreign minister, Danny Ayalon, on Wednesday said that a student protester had uttered the words in question as Mr Ayalon faced protests over his appearance at the Union on Monday night.
But the Oxford Student newspaper yesterday quoted second year St Edmund Hall student Noor Rashid as saying he was in fact using the words of a classical Arabic chant commemorating a seventh-century battle between Arabs and Jews at Khayber, in the Arabian Peninsula.
The statement from Mr Ayalon's office maintained that a student had called out "Itbah Al Yahud" which translates as a call to slaughter Jews.
But Mr Rashid said that he had in fact said: "Khaybar ya Yahod." A Jewish Chronicle report yesterday said this referred to a seventh century attack by the Prophet Mohammed on the Jewish community in Khaybar in which the Jews were defeated and made to pay half their income to the Muslim victors.
Mr Rashid told Oxford Student: "My version went: 'Khaybar, O Jews, we will win'. This is in classical, Qur'anic Arabic and I doubt that apart from picking up on the word 'Jew', that even the Arabic speakers in the room would have understood the phrase.
"As you can see, I made no reference to killing Jews." he said, adding that 'Jew' and 'Israel' were interchangeable terms. Mr Rashid said the remark carried "absolutely no derogatory or secondary meanings."
Mr Rashid told the paper he may have been misunderstood: "There was a great deal of confusion and several people were shouting at the same time so I do acknowledge that people may have misheard me and assume that I uttered something else - namely to 'slaughter the Jews' which is something that I do not believe.
"I express the deepest regret if my remarks were misunderstood or misheard to mean anything that even comes close to encouraging the slaughter of innocents. I will be writing letters to all my Jewish friends to express my sincere apologies, and also to clarify my remarks."...
More Muslim "Misunderstandings" -
Quran 9:5 "Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war."
9:112 "The Believers fight in Allah's cause; they slay and are slain, kill and are killed."
8:39 "So fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief [non-Muslims]) and all submit to the religion of Allah alone (in the whole world)."
8:65 "O Prophet, urge the faithful to fight. If there are twenty among you with determination they will vanquish two hundred; if there are a hundred then they will slaughter a thousand unbelievers, for the infidels are a people devoid of understanding."
9:38 "Believers, what is the matter with you, that when you are asked to go forth and fight in Allah's Cause you cling to the earth? Do you prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? Unless you go forth, He will afflict and punish you with a painful doom, and put others in your place."
47:4 "When you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle (fighting Jihad in Allah's Cause), smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter, either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam."
Yep, "slaughter the Jews" is just another "misunderstanding.
Riiiight. Because there was a lot of other shouting going on it is quite obvious that what the "student" yelled could have been misunderstood. And since he said it in Arabic, and according to him no one else could have understood, they just miraculously heard him say something he claims to not have said. Or more likely, he yelled exactly what the Isrealis heard and he is just using the standard muslim tactic of obfuscating and outright lying about what was said. And the dhimmis at Oxford will just lap it up, because it is the fault of the West and the Jews that muslims are so full of hate and violence, nothing to do with the islam and its teachings.
The muhammadan was trying for Jihad but he'll settle for a Hudna.
Silly Wabbit! Being a muhammadan means NEVER having to say you're sorry!

-- from the article above, quoting Noor Rashid, a student (how? why? of what? to what end?), the man who uttered what was the equivalent of a death threat
There is not a Muslim in that audience or around the world who would not have understood the reference to Khaybar at once, and who would know exactly what that meant.
Just go to MEMRITV, or look atr any Muslim website, or listen at the speeches of any Muslim clerics on television or, for that matter, the tissue of allusions to the main facts of Muhammad's life that are the stuff of everyday easy allusion, in conversations public and private all over the Muslim, and especially Muslim Arab lands. And it's true of all their political figures -- just look, for example, at how easily, say, Yassir Arafat could mention to an audience of Muslims in Johannesburg, "Al Hudaibiyya" which was a way of signalling -- don't worry, we have no intention of honoring those promises we made, we'll carry on the war, renew the war, just as soon as we feel able, just like Muhammad with the Meccans, deceiving them with the agreement made with them at Hudaibiyya.
This Noor Rashid, in mentioning Khaybar, is alluding to the mass murder pf Jews by Muslims, looting of their poroperty, and the seizure of their women who were then forced, like a girl whose father, brother, and husband had been killed, who became the concubine of that Perfect Man, al-insan al-kamil, Muhammad himself. And Noor Rashid has followed his bloodcurdling death threat with a transparent attempt to lie, and also, in lying, to rely on the ignorance, and the stupidity, of his Infidel audience. '
Shall those Infidels confirm him in his utter contempt for them? Shall Oxford do the right thing, and expel this Stormtrooper from their midst, and make sure that the other Muslim students begin to understand that we in the West are not their playthings, and they will have to behave in a less primitive manner, in our countries, if not in their own? And if they happen to have acquired citizenship in our countries, that means they must conform to our legal and political institutions, and permanently. Citizenship can be granted, and citizenship can be taken away, when it becomes a thing, or perhaps for some people always was, a meaningless thing, merely a way of staying in a particular geographic location and working against everything the indigenous population, and the ancestors of that population, managed to create, and that could not for one minute have been created, under Islam.
Muslims such as Tariq Ramadan like to think they are in Europe, and there "to stay." He, Tariq Ramadan, insists that "it's all over" -- meaning, we are here, our numbers are growing, you don't dare, you can't possibly do anything to change or stop that. Of course the non-Muslim natives of Europe can do many things, if they come to their senses in time, and prove the colubrine Tariq Ramadan wrong.
And of course, if it is not afraid -- is it afraid? -- to offend those rich Arabs, the ones who so selectively donate (as in buying for Tariq Ramadan a "professorship" at the University of Cambridge), for fear that they will not contribute? But they don't contribute, in any real sense, to the academic standards or moral standards, of Great Britain any way. Western hirelings of the Arabs and Muslims should not have their numbers swelled by Oxford lecturers and professors and administrators, unwilling to do the right thing.
Let's see what, if anything, happens to Noor Rashid. If nothing happens, if his attempt to shout down a speaker, and call for blood, then followed by an obvious lie, goes unpunished, that will be telling.
A few years ago terrorists in Gaza started marking "Khaybar" on some of their Kassams and Katyushas. The meaning of that gesture was clear to anyone who knew of the earlier Khaybar. As the Jews of Khaybar were defeated and killed, that is their intent toward the Jews of today's Israel.
Noor Rashid needs some brushing up on his taqiyya. I mean second-rate taqiyya just won't do. It's got to be first rate or one's Muslimness is slipping.
Since "winning" for muslims rarely if ever involves a soccer match, chess game or foot race, but involves hot war, then even if he said winning he meant killing. The beast is alive and now inside everywhere we attempt to have a quiet and free civic life. It's encroachment upon the lives of Jew's and Christian's is very direct. This indeed is a very different war , a new war in which we as citizens have to carry the day , stay alert, resist and inform.
"encouraging the slaughter of innocents"
There's the Taqiyya, right there - that's "innocents" in the Anjem Choudary sense of the word.
Most will fall for it though and accept it as a straight apology.
I'll keep saying it till I'm blue in the face "BRING VIDEO CAMERAS TO THESE EVENTS!"
Capturing these evil people saying these things is gold. They go viral and help convince more people of the dangers of Islamism.
I even encourage people to covertly video tape. If I was in the UK, I'd join the so called Anti-Fascist leftist groups at the EDL rallies in order to capture anti-Semitic video and sound bites ...
Be clever as serpents!
Sooo.. has "misunderstood" now replaced the old stand-by: "taken out of context" ??
Nope, you can fell back on the old tried-and-true "you're are taking that verse out of context" when some kuffar presses you on a particular aya from the Qur'an. As a last resort, a taquiyya artist can also claim that the Qur'an is different in Arabic.
Interesting that Rashid implicitly asserted that the language of the Quran is incomprehensible to modern Arabic speakers. I thought that all good Muslims, particularly the Arabic speakers, studied their sacred "uncreated" text assiduously in the original. And they don't understand it?
....war is deception.......
....deception (of infidels) is war.......
"I will be writing letters to all my Jewish friends to express my sincere apologies, and also to clarify my remarks."... This guy really underestimates the intelligence of people who know what's up--WE KNOW YOU'RE LYING-YOU GOT BUSTED..stupid Mohammedan...
What is needed is a useful dictionary for the non-Muslims, so they can understand what a Muslim says and what it actually means. Who better to do it than Oxford University (who produce the well-known OED). For Muslims, words do not have their conventional meanings.
Misunderstood = Said something hateful (but accurately) from the Qur'an and the Kufr noticed it. Now need to deny it for convenience.
"Misunderstood" has now reached the point of being ridiculed.
Out of context = See above.
Innocent people = Words only applicable to Muslims. Everyone else is not innocent.
Offended = Muslims not getting their own way.
Taqqiya = Treat all statements by Muslims with suspicion. If the end result is advantageous to Muslim or Islam they are probably just convenient lies.
On the other hand, it's a good thing Noor Rashid referred to the Khaybar episode because it provides an opening, for all who note this case, to discuss, in detail, what actually happened at the Khaybar Oasis, and how it fits in to the Muslim view of how to treat Infidels. The unintended consequences here are not to be sneezed at.
For one example, see Robert Spencer's very commentary above. Noor Rashid provides the opportunity and Robert merely took a leaf from that Jay-Gould Mauve-Decade variety scamp who explained to some committee that ""I'se seen my opportunities and I took 'em." Noor Rashid opened the door, wider than he must have foreseen, and much wider than he must have hoped.
This sort of thing will keep getting more and more common until people respond appropriately.
There's only one thing that such characters understand. Physical violence. That's it.
They deal in violence, believe in violence and understand only violence.
The appropriate response to this motherless bastard is what the Indians call a roasting. That is when you get arrested and somehow, mysteriously, between the point of arrest and the jailhouse you are beaten to the point of being red and discolored all over. Then you get a chance to go before a judge for conventional legal punishment.
As I hear it, jail time is just jail time -- not so scary -- it is the roasting that really gets a criminal's attention.
Most of these alleged "students" are undoubtedly mental weaklings and utter cowards. The certainty of a serious beating would probably prevent 90% of this stuff.
====================
There is something else at work here.
All these creatures come from outrageously oppressive environments.
It is exactly as though when they come out into the low pressure atmosphere of a semi-free country, all the violence and oppression that have been forced into them over the years comes bursting out. (Aimed of course at the people around them, or some other traditional conventional target/scapegoat).
The only thing that is likely to restore their self containment is to restore the external pressure of conformity and violence.
So whether they succeed in establishing sharia, with all of it's oppressiveness, or whether the west finally gets over its effeminate restraint and starts bearing down on them, either way they will ultimately succeed in making the environment conform to their needs.
Curious no?
Rest assured, some set of standards other than the anything goes atmosphere that pertains today will be brought to bear eventually.
Let's hope it's something friendly toward us.
"Khaybar, Khaybar, ya Yahoud, jaish Muhammad sa yaoud"
"The Muslims will murder you and your children and rape your women, Those they allow to live will be slaves until they decide to kill them as well and take what they want... You will live in terror."
No HATE CRIME here... Keep your head down, Shut up and move along...
One hopes that among those Noor Rashid so piously and contritely describes as "all my Jewish friends" will actually read a bit about Muhammad's premeditated attack on the Khaybar Oasis, and find out what went on there, and what happened to the Jewish girl he took as part of his booty, the one whose male relatives he had just finished killing.
For the further instruction of those but lately come to this site, and especially of those who may google their way in here for the first time in the wake of this revealing episode at Oxford:
Comments on Islam by D. S. Margoliouth (1905):
“*The taking of Khaibar marks the stage at which Islam became a menace to the whole world.* {my emphasis added - dda}
"True, Mohammad had now for six years lived by robbery and brigandage: but in plundering Meccans he could plead that he had been driven from his home and possessions: and with the Jewish tribes of Medina he had in each case some outrage, real or pretended, to avenge.
"But the people of Khaibar, all that distance from Medinah, had certainly done him and his followers no wrong: for their leaving unavenged the murder of one of their number by his emissary was no act of aggression.
" Ali, when told to lead the forces against them, had to enquire for what he was fighting: and was told that he must compel them to adopt the formulae of Islam.
"*Khaibar was attacked because there was booty to be acquired there, and the plea for attacking it was that its inhabitants were not Moslems.* {my emphasis - dda}
"That plea could cover attacks on the whole world outside of Medinah and its neighborhood: and on leaving Khaibar the Prophet seemed to see the world already in his grasp….
"Now the fact that a community was idolatrous, or Jewish, or anything but Mohammadan,
"warranted murderous attack upon it: the passion for fresh conquests dominated the Prophet.”
