I have headed back to the old East Coast for this morning's inaugural event of the Freedom Defense Initiative. At 10AM Eastern Pamela Geller and I will be presenting "Jihad: The Political Third Rail -- What They're Not Telling You," featuring Wafa Sultan, Steve Coughlin, Anders Gravers of SIOE, Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff of Pax Europa, Sudanese ex-slave Simon Deng, and Lt. Colonel Allen West.
What they're not telling you indeed: the need for a conference like ours was underscored by the revelation yesterday that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson tried to poison the food supply -- two months ago. Why was this not revealed until yesterday? Who was covering it up, and why?
In any case, if you are in the DC area, we hope you'll drop by. Note that security will be extremely tight, as it must be in this wonderful multicultural age, due to the possibility that some adherents of the Religion of Tolerance and Peace will take umbrage.

I used to know a police officer.
We got to talking about jihad and I asked about the possibility of some crimes - crimes like carjackings and home invasions that end with senseless, unprovoked killing - being the act of individual jihadists rather than the usual criminal element...
He noticeably felt uncomfortable about my question, and only vaguely responded that the public doesn't always get the full story.
What they're not telling us, indeed. THAT is more frightening than the crimes themselves.

And I have a sick feeling that the Nashville mosque hoax - you know, the recent one with the specifically EAST AFRICAN Christian crosses? - is going to be a cover-up.
I've been watching for any updates on the Tennessean - none. When something is said it's still the gullible Nashville "Infidels" howling about how terrible the "vandalism" is. Ahem - anyone with half a brain can ascertain that the Somali Muslims did it.
Somali Muslims. East Africa. East African Christian cross spray-painted on the mosque. HELLO!
I'm shocked at the immediate grovelling and submission by the Nashville "Infidels" to the immigrant Somali Muslims. Shocked.
I believe that LE already knows it's an inside job. And that there's a huge probability they're going to keep quiet about it.

Police officers are no different than the average person on the street who has to go home,reads the newspaper,goes on the internet,listens to the radio, and watches the TV. Believe me they above all have an acute awareness of the the problem that is Islamic Jihad.
Right after the 9-11 attack, officers in Los Angeles where watching government buildings,making up lists of synagogues in their areas and checking on them for immediate responses, Etc.
These actions alone heightened their concerns for knowledge as to how much Islamic jihad is a threat to America and many of them have taken the time to understand why the Ideology of Islamic jihad is a great concern to them.
They cannot afford to be politically correct in dealing with this growing threat and they know it, even if they might not choose to discuss it openly at times.

I admit I had to Google the story to see what an 'East African Christian Cross" looked like. Too many variations came up at Google, so I looked for your story.
I'm assuming this is it part of the same story:

If this is the case, that pictured cross (one large cross with 4 smaller crosses at each corner) is also known as a Jerusalem cross, which is also known as a Crusaders cross.
I used a similar style on my own blog (I won't link so as not to be accused of promoting it here at JihadWatch, for which I have too much respect!)

An outstanding event, with dynamic speakers, each with a compelling story. Stephen Coughlin was exceedingly informative, and his point that official American self-censorship regarding Islam and jihad has given the enemy a "decisive victory in the information battlespace" was truly chilling. Wafa Sultan quoted Thomas Paine in her exhoration to resist Islam "now -- right now!" Simon Deng, who spent three years in slavery to Muslims, appeared as "a voice for those who have no voice," remaining as they do under Islam's yoke in his native Sudan. Anders Gravers and Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff spoke eloquently about the grim situation in Europe. And Allen West, a candidate for Congress, referred to the Treaty of Hudibayah and Muhammad's letter to the Byzantine Emperor Heraclius, showing that he has read into the history of Islamic imperialism (truly a rarity among politicians). Listening to these brave leaders gave me hope and stiffened my own resolve. Many thanks to Robert and Pamela for getting them together.

I think a part of it might be the said fact that military life, and especially being in command of others or in a position of responsibility, involves the ability to cover one's posterior. The fact is, any misdeed that happens on a commander's watch can be, and often is, a career killer.
My guess would be that it is indeed more than that; but the CYA factor also plays a huge role in that, as my gut tells me it also played in the debacle earlier at Fort Hood.

I know that you are very busy with this conference for which I wish I could be there-but,I am there with you all inspirit! However , I am wondering if anyone is Video Taping this Conference so it could be available for those of us who other wise are not in attendance and available at a low cost say between $10 & $15??? That would be really great! Many good things being stated here; and at Pamela's site as well as Act For America. By the way has anyone read the book,"Three Cups of Tea", by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin, Published by Penquin, New York 2006? I would love to hear comments on this book.
